I visited Greenville for the Masters World Championships in the Scottish Highland Games this past Memorial Day Weekend. On Sunday night after the Games were over I went to this restaurant for a late dinner. I ate in the bar. I had decaf coffee, their "triple threat" bar starter plate and the gigantic cookie/ice cream dessert. As I was eating, I noticed that the chicken breasts in the "triple threat" plate seemed a little bit too wet, but I ate them anyway. They were certainly hot enough to have killed any live bacteria, so I felt OK about it. The next morning I got up at 3:30 AM to drive to Charlotte to catch a flight home. Upshot...I spent the entire day miserable from food poisoning. Oh, it was a wonderful day, sick in the car and in the back of airplanes, and throwing up in the Denver airport bathroom. Thanks a lot, Cheddars Casual Cafe. I will probably never be back in Greenville, but if I am, you can be damn sure that I will never set foot in this place again. Oh yes, one more thing. Next time you wipe down the tables in the bar, use a little bit of soap to get the grease off of the table. It bothers customers when their arms stick to the table top. read more

OK so Gerald has good food they loaded baked potato is a jokeOur waiter and I wish I could remember his name was a really got good guy

Poor service from the gay bar tender. Got half of our order, been sitting here looking at our empty drinks for 20 minutes. Seems to be too worried about texting than getting our drinks and silverware. Not the best cheddars in the world for sure. read more

I ordered the chicken and shrimp, and my food was very good. Our service was ok, it was a little slow. What prevented me from giving 4 stars was the fact that my husband never received part of his meal. He ordered the monte cristo wrap with raspberry sauce. The waitress brought it out and said that the sauce would be out in a minute. After sitting there for almost 5 minutes without eating while everyone else did, she said it would be a while because the kitchen is really backed up. After sitting there a while longer , I ended up giving my husband half of my meal. After another several minutes she came back and said she would check on the sauce again. After several more minutes she came back and said sorry we're out. At this point, my husband's meal was no longer desirable. There was no compensation offered, no discount on the meal, and nothing else was offered. My husband would not have ordered that had he known there was no sauce. Overall, I think that they could have done a better job. read more

This food is down-right GOOD! Southern, mama's home cookin' with an upscale atmosphere. This place is gorgeous, yet we were pleasantly surprised by the lower-than-average prices. The wait was long, but well worth it. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Very tasty and a warm and comfy atmosphere. read more

If you're looking for a "chain meal" then this is the place to go. I mainly come here with co workers when we're trying to stay close to our office. It's good but not great. The service is usually pretty good. Tables, floor, and bathrooms are usually clean. The Maui margarita is really good. It's very sweet, but also comes with an extra shot of tequila on the side. If you don't mind sweet and are looking to drink something alcoholic, you have to try this. I recommend the salmon. It comes out pretty good each time. The burgers are also pretty good here as well. Be ware of peak hours. You will have a long wait. read more

First time here don't think we will be back. We were told 15 minute wait it turned into 50 when questioned they said they were short staffed. We were waited on promptly however it took another 15 minutes and having to ask to get out two mixed drinks only to have my margarita spilled on the table poor waitress was young I thought she was going to cry. Food was good and very quick. Poor management the women's bathroom the garbage was overflowing and handicap stall quite gross. read more

I gave this restaurant a second chance, and I'm glad I did. I ate here with my sister and we had a great experience. We both had salmon and it was delicious. The croissants were warm fluffy and sweet. This visit was better than my previous visit. I hope everyone has the same experience that I had after giving the restaurant a second chance. read more

If there was a way to rate this with no stars, I would. Arrived, waited about 25 minutes (It's sunday, no big deal). We get seated and the first thing I noticed on the table was the receipt from the previous customers. I read it, left no tip (That should have been an indicator). We waited about another 10 minutes before our waiter finally decides to make an appearance. Takes our order for main course and appetizer. 30 minutes go by and we finally get our appetizer (Spinach dip) -- the nachos stuck on the dip and so soggy because of how long they were probably sitting in the kitchen and the dip was cold at this point. We didn't even touch it -- at this point we have been there almost an hour and a half and all of the sudden our waiter walks by with her purse in hand (I'm thinking, she must be leaving). No, she sits at an another table and another waiter takes over. (Still trying to justify the situation in my head, I'm thinking, maybe she's had no breaks all day so the new waiter is taking over for her). After almost 2 hours, we get drink refills and what do you know, someone is bringing a plate of food to our waiter's table -- yes, the same waiter who took our order is now getting a plate of food for her and her entire table (4-5 people perhaps). At that point I decided to walk out and leave. I made it to the front of the house and called a manager. Explained the situation and tried to pay for the drinks and the dip but he said it was okay and that he would be looking into it. He showed empathy but at this point, it's going to be a while before I even attempt to visit this place again. That was one of the worse customer service experiences I've ever gone through -- sat there for two hours and didn't even eat there. read more

I usually love the ribs here. They are mouthwatering, juicy, and spiced just right. Then something happened. The last few times I have gotten them they have been dry. The last time I had to send them back, and I never send anything back. I asked one of our regular waiters if they were putting the ribs in the microwave. He said, "No", but that they were using a new process. Please, Cheddar's, go back to your old process so I can come back to your restaurant! read more

This was the worst meal and service that I have ever had. Plates and glasses had food on them and they give us a A1 bottle that was so gross we all stopped eating. We had cheese bites and they had some kind of strange sauce on them. Chicken pot pies was mostly onions. I have never had onions in the pot pie before. Steak was over cooked. Ceasar salad had cheddar cheese in it. It was the slowest service we ever had. Manager was a big joke. Never going back. Wish a could give zero stars. read more

Server was prompt and refilled drinks promptly. We were sat near the kitchen entrance which meant a lot of traffic and quite noisy. The food was good and true to being made from scratch. read more

We had the worst experience there!!! The atmosphere was pleasant, but the service was horrible!!! Took forever for the server to come by, they were not busy, took forever to bring us a couple of beers. We weren't in a huge hurry to eat, so we were patient. Ordered food and waited forever for it while watching our server sitting around. When the food finally came it was stone cold! Had to wave the server over and he just took the plates away... we finished our beers and he came back by with a very insincere apology, looked at our empty beer glasses and walked away. We just got up and walked out. No one said anything, no one seemed to even wonder why we were walking out. Needless to say, we'd never go again.. read more

My wife loves this place. Ive only eaten there once so Im giving them an ok, but the Shepherd's pie was the worst I have ever had.

Not all that great but when they first opened it was ok I can say I won't be back here unless I just have no where else to eat at...but it's ok I guess read more

Hostess rude, servers rude, food was mediocre for the price. Sufficed to say I have no plans on returning. I think they need to clean house and start over. read more

Came in for lunch yesterday and had a great experience. Our server, Melodee, was very involved and made sure to check up on us periodically. I ordered a burger and fries which were both great! I had been here years ago and had a great visit as well. My only complaint is the mayonnaise which came on the side. It clearly wasn't Duke's and I could barely stomach it without mixing in some ketchup. Other than that, A+! read more

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - American Near Me - Greenville, South Carolina

Pretty underwhelmed. Came here for a birthday dinner when we found Fatz had closed. We sat immediately, and a waitress started to get drinks orders, but left without getting the order for our youngest. Waited a good ten minutes to get a food order taken, and a further 30+ for food to come. Even drinks took a long to come, and we were told they had run out of clean glasses, so had to use styrofoam. Food was merely warm when it came out, and was not anything spectacular. read more

The food was okay. I sat at the bar with a friend of mine and the bartender Jen was a total rude woman. She kept ignoring us just to make drinks for the waiters. After 5 minutes of sitting there we were actually acknowledged. I had a burger which was cooked wrong, yet still good. I asked for an extra croissant because I dropped mine, but was charged for it. The manager came to just check in and she saved our experience. She was blond and was just a nice person. I probably won't be back soon. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to do a traditional dinner date before heading out to see a movie. It was a last minute decision to go to Cheddar's, but it was by far the best decision. It was not too busy, so we were seated as soon as we walked through the door. As soon as we settled, our waitress approached the table and got our drinks. My boyfriend is the type to take advantage of free refills when out in public, as we do not keep soda in our home, so he was very thrilled that our waitress brought him a refill as soon as she saw that his glass was half empty. Not only that, but the food was excellent and served in a timely manner. We knew that it was fresh, as it was still hot when it arrived at our table. I'd like to take a moment and commend our server on her excellence. Her name was Courtney, and although it was her first day serving, she was by far the best waitress we have ever had. She was very attentive, always checking on us to make sure that we were satisfied. Not only that, but she was also very kind and sweet. Without a doubt, we would both be willing to return as the atmosphere is very casual and relaxing, but also has an intimate and romantic feel. it is a very fit setting for both families and couples alike. read more

Just an FYI to everyone reading Cheddar's request to reach out. I responded with my contact information...they have yet to respond! Even MORE bad service! I think they just want other yelp-ers to think they are doing something. Can you give zero stars? 3/30/17 Update-Still have yet to hear from any customer service. Their online service is just as bad and slow as their in person service is. read more

I had eaten here once before and wasn't a fan but after they've updated their menu it seems to have been way better this time around. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and it was SOOO good. I also had plenty leftover to take home with me afterwards. The waiter was great and we waited no more than 10 minutes on a Sunday night to be seated. read more

I went there after church with my girlfriend. After a 30 min wait to be seated we ordered an appetizer with two entrees. The Potato skins were good.. we waited close to another 30 minutes before our food arrived. When our food arrived the waiter advised me that the kitchen was out of gravy for my country fried steak. He asked if I wanted anything else and advised me that if I did it would be another 20-30 min before it arrived. I said no that I would eat the sides but that I wasn't happy. I was never visited by a manager, I was charged full price for the meal that I didn't eat. I later left feedback on their website in hopes to be contacted in regards to the bad experience and that was 3 weeks ago. I will not eat there again. read more

I was a frequent visitor for the first 6 months they were open. The service was never good, but the prices are good and the food is ok. That all changed tonight. The service was worse than usual and the food was disgusting. We were a party of 7 and not 1 of our selections was even warm. Our apps were bought out 1 at a time over a 15 minute period as well as the entrees. I will NEVER return. read more

Waited 15 minutes to be seated then another 20 minutes to realize no waiter assigned to table. After asking a server to check on this he disappeared and said the table had not been assigned to anyone. We left without eating. The reviews people gave about this place are correct. Poor management. read more

This place is average. I ordered the grilled salmon and my husband the steak and shrimp. I'm giving 4 stars because my husband really enjoyed his meal. I thought my salmon was over-cooked therefore dry. Their honey butter croissants are really delicious but probably terrible for our arteries. That said, you must try them :) Another thing that was nice and surprising was there was no wait at 5pm on a Saturday but when we left around 630pm the line started forming. Not sure if they take reservations but do if you plan to eat during peak dinner time. read more

Great ambiance! Superior service from all the ladies! Idiot male server needs to improve - asked if he could get my server to stop by our table and he was oblivious and stated there were too many folks on staff to know which one was ours! Get real. Are you that dumb? read more

The chicken finger basket is a total winner but it is quite noisy at peek hrs.

Food is average. Often not warm. Menu selection is huge.....but probably should focus on doing a few things well instead of having a hundred items to microwave. But its inexpensive so we keep coming back. Tonight the service in the bar was poor. So, I have made my last visit to Cheddars. read more

We were there on Tuesday afternoon. All the meals were good accept for one. We asked for the chicken and rice to be taken back because they were over cooked. The waitress said the manager was supposed to come out and give us another chicken platter. She never showed up and by the time the waitress brought the chicken plate back we were all done with our meals. We asked to get the finally cooked chicken platter be put in a togo tray and also be taken off the bill for the inconvenience. We were told by the waitress that the manager that we still have not seen yet said we would have to pay for the plate anyways. We decided not to pay for it and I hope this inconvenience does not happen to anyone else. I would have to say I will eat at bone fish grill before I ever eat here again. read more

Lunch at Cheddar's on Valentine's Day and surprise we did not have to wait. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. I would recommend it although it is not very spicy. I will say that on this particular visit, our waitress was struggling. Beside our table, she had a group of about 10 next to us. She could not make them happy, and as a result we got neglected. She apologized to us and confided that it was her 2nd day on the job. I will say that this Greenville Cheddar's is almost impossible to get to because the location is on Woodruff Road which is at an almost constant state of gridlock. if you are going, leave early. read more

This is the second time (out of two) that the service has been terrible. Today my friend and I went there for lunch. Even though we ordered the exact same thing they brought me the wrong order: fried fish instead of grilled. The waiter said, "Are you SURE?" when I said I didn't ask for fried fish. Since I had said i wanted the same thing, why wouldn't mine be grilled, like his? No apology. By the time my food finally came, my friend had been done eating for a while, and it was nearly an hour since I'd arrived. When the waiter asked if we wanted a dessert I said it would be nice if they'd comp a dessert since my order was wrong, and he said he couldn't do that. Well, alrighty. I guess I won't be back, then. read more

My husband and I went today for lunch. The food was food and the server was nice but very forgetful. It took her three times to get us tea and ranch dressing. Also my parents went there the same day but at different time then we did. My parents had it worse. They got steak and chicken combo, and the steak wasn't quite done so my mom sent it back to cook it a little longer. Then a server came back and said it will be a few minutes. Their server came to their table and said The KITCHEN CREW HAD ATE HER STEAK. Their server said they were cooking her another steak but it never arrive so my parents left. read more

Good eats. Very reasonable. DeWayne was our server and was very accommodating. Big buttery crescents well worth getting. Yummy!!
