I was at the convention center for a multi day meeting. Four of us decided to get dinner during the meeting break and chose Cheddar's based on the menu options and close proximity. We initially had trouble identifying the restaurant, the signage wasn't the best. The menu had a lot of tasty looking choices. I ordered meat loaf, mashed potatoes, gravy and broccoli. The meat loaf was dry, appearing to be overcooked. There was a small mini bowl of mashed potatoes with a bit of gravy, not enough for the meat loaf which might have helped with the dryness. The broccoli came out several minutes later. The service was fine and attentive. I don't live in the area so it's unlikely I'll return. read more

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen is a solid, reliable spot when you want variety and comfort food. There's something for everyone on the menu, which makes it an easy choice for groups. The mashed potatoes are really good -- creamy and flavorful -- but the salmon is the real standout for me. I love the salmon. It's consistently cooked well and has great flavor. The restaurant itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere. It was very busy, so service was a bit slow, but our waitress was kind and friendly. My husband's steak was juicy and well-cooked, but my lemon pepper chicken lacked both lemon and pepper--it was very bland, as was the rice. However, the corn was delicious, and the Caesar salad was a good portion. The highlight of the meal? The warm, flaky croissants with honey butter--they were amazing! Cheddar's has changed its name but the food hasn't improved since I last visited there when it was just Cheddar's. The lemon pepper chicken looked it had been pounded nearly flat. It was cooked too dry and had very little flavor to it. If you are looking for Trivia Night, it's a good place to go. If you are looking for good food, I search for something else. read more

I was passing through the town and decided to give this establishment a shot. The reviews on google gave this place 4/5 stars, yet Yelp with a great disparity gave this establishment a 2.9/5 stars. So, I came to see if for myself. I ordered the cheese fries that were topped with thick and delicious bacon bites. It was probably the best dish out of my order. Here is where my complaints begin... the service was an absolute 3/10 score. Never once did my server come back and check my table nor refill drinks until I hollered for her to come to my table to get the tab. 1. When I had ordered the chicken fried steak they didn't tell me that they didn't have the country gravy sauce until AFTER they had prepared the meal and brought it to my table. When I told the server that I didn't want the incomplete meal she proceeded to get the manager to come talk to me. The manager "Omar" and I had a honest yet pleasant conversation where I had informed him that several balls were dropped during my dine-in. I told him without the country gravy with my chicken fried steak would taste the same and is not a realistic expectation for anybody who wants that order. I told him had I been made aware earlier while the server was taking my order I would have picked a different entree. He agreed with me. 2. The server attempted to up-charge my bill by adding menu items that I had no idea come with extra costs such as the loaded potato does not come with bacon without an extra surcharge of $1 or that the salads as a side comes with a surcharge of an additional $1. Had the server mentioned that certain sides come with a surcharge I would have made some changes to my order. 3. The other entree that came incomplete was the pork chop entree. It typically comes with a bourbon glaze, but when I got the dish the pork chop was way over cooked and it didn't come with any of the bourbon sauce/glaze. And when I brought it to the server's attention she simply shrugged and walked away - not even asking to see if I would like some after the fact. I feel a lot of the bad experience at this establishment could have been mitigated by better training of the server. Had the server been more attentive, more proactive and more understanding would have saved everybody the headache. And had she own up to her mistakes and attempted to make things right would have made a better experience. Overall, the temporary manager "Omar" saved the day and made it right by listening to my concerns and being receptive. He modified my tab and explained what he did to me, while asking that I give the establishment another chance in the near future. Omar, if you read this review I just want to say how appreciative I am of meeting and speaking with you over my first time experience at Cheddars. I hope there are more folks like you at that establishment. Your exemplary customer service will bring me back to the establishment the next time I am passing through eastern NC. read more

This was our first time trying Cheddar's and it did not disappoint. Food was hot, service was fantastic, and the restaurant was clean.

Take out orders is terrible. After I got home, the kids meal was missing and NO croissants, but I didn't notice I didn't get croissants until I went back to the restaurant parking lot and sat waiting on the kids meal. I addressed it with the person who brought out the kids meal. She went back but and a manager came out with the croissants. Only an unfelt apology is all he could muster. The food was not their best. The rice was salty, the deconstructed burger that I did not order that way was dry and flavorless. It looked nothing like the picture of the bacon cheeseburger on the picture. Let's just say I was very disappointed in the food and the service. And it's not the first time it's happened. But it will be the last time. Live and learn. read more

Hostess picked up the wrapped utensils off the floor and put them in the drawer with the other utensils. (What if a customer wipes their face after eating with that napkin) Hostess helped clean up a table and the unused utensils were taken back to the check-in Podium to serve to other customers. Very long wait to be seated most likely due to staffing because there were tons of empty tables everywhere within the restaurant. That is the ONLY negative thing I can say, after being seated, the waitress was great and the food was delicious! The free croissants were flaky warm and wonderful. The spinach dip was awesome. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo, it's sweet and savory! The food came out fast and everything was cooked perfectly. The kitchen was on point that day and deserves 5 stars, as well as our waitress, I left her extra on the tip! Definitely 5 star service.... So many good things to say, where do I start?? We were immediately sat down when we got here and the hostess was very nice! Immediately after being sat down at our table a waiter was immediately there introducing herself and taking drink orders, of which she was very patient because we had no idea what we even wanted to drink! Lmbo! After getting drinks and coming to our table a 3rd time because we had no idea what we wanted to eat, of our waiter was extremely patient with a bubbly, cheerful demeanor! After ordering our food, the manager ( Kaci) came to our table to inquire about the experience and to make sure we were being taken care of. I can appreciate when a manager personally comes around to tables. His attitude was so warm, his attention to detail was everything, and his professionalism was astounding. Sooo the food came out and I ordered a 16 Oz T-bone and babbyyy it was giving very much lick your fingers and LICK the plate! I'm extremely picky about my steaks and they nailed it. Really delicious lunch here! We've heard great things about Cheddar's and they did not disappoint! The decor is really interesting - very cool paddle fan. Our server was a wonderful girl who attends ECU, we talked about school and she was just so friendly and cheerful. The butter croissants are phenomenal! Then, we chose steak and the monte cristo for our entrees. Both very good. The standout was the Painkiller - look at that drink! Wowza. It about knocked me off my feet. Chaz was exceptional. In over 20 years of eating at Cheddar's across the country, I would have to put Chaz and the support team at our Chrddar's at the top. This customer centric approach can only come from the top management down! What did Chaz do very well? He welcomed us and made us feel at home as did the checkin lady, who also thanked us on the way out. Chaz gave us special attention and wrote down our special needs, he checked on us often and asked if we needed drink refills. The food came out a little fast after our salads and appetizer but they offered to put my chicken pot pie in the warmer which was a nice treat. We drove from Raleigh to come here because we love cheddars. I thought it was gonna be a wait because of the amount of people walking in but we got seated right away. They brought out our complimentary honey croissant rolls which were good. I ordered the Buffalo wrapper which came with 4 and a strawberry swirl margarita. The drink was good as usual the wrapper was ok. We shared a cookie dessert which was ok as well. Our server Dalton was really good and attentive . Can't wait to visit again. read more

This service is terrible why do y'all even have jobs! You all very lazy the girl said the bar was open and then went to go sit down with a guest and did not greet me with a menu or anything. (I don't care if you're about to get cut from your morning shift STILL DO YOUR JOB) So I got up went to a table the service was even more terrible he didn't put my order in for 10 minutes after I told him what I was ordering. My glass of wine took just as long as my appetizer ( which was about 15 mins) when I finally got the wine the glass was dirty... so overall this place is terrible and this is coming from a Darden employee so I hope y'all get your employees in line because this was a horrible experience. ROACH ALERT Went here tonight to eat, and while we were sitting at our table we saw a roach crawling on the wall and another couple had one in there both, he was able to kill it I believe. 1. Took to long to be greeted at the hostess counter. 2. Asked for food to be wiped out the seat and tried to hand us cleaning materials. 3. We stopped here today for our first visit. Waitress was great food yummy, especially the 1/2 rack of ribs that melted in your mouth with a delicious BBQ sauce. My wife's steak was cooked perfect but since it was our 1st visit we didn't know the seasonings in the coating bothered my wife's throut as she has had spinal surgery in her neck that really made her throat sensitive to spices. The people at this restaurant are extremely rude and incompetent. I went for take out the other night and sat at the bar for 25 minutes waiting for my food that I had ordered 20 minutes before arriving. There were only 2 others in the bar area when I arrived. I sat there fir 15 minutes before the bartender wot purple hair even spoke to me. I had planned on having a drink but was COMPLETELY ignored. They were not busy at all. This place never disappoints. I love the New Orleans pasta it's my go to, always cooked perfectly, the right amount of seasoning, and the right amount of meat. The red fish w/ crab sauce was amazing! Our first time trying it, and it was flaky not too fishy. The crab sauce looked watery but was really good. Gosh I love cheddars! I went in at around 2 this Thursday and it wasn't busy. We were seated quickly and our server was Shelby. She was attentive and prompt. I had the lunch combo, crispy chicken tender soup and a half order of the blackened shrimp alfredo. I had a side of mac and cheese but I wouldn't recommend it. It had been a long time since we ate at Cheddar's even though I have always enjoyed it. The restaurant is beautiful and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The wait was always so long (usually on a Sunday) and the sanitation score was not good so I checked and the score had improved so husband and I decided to go by and see if it was too crowded. We were greeted nicely by the host and he took as directly to a booth. We were waited on immediately by our wonderful waiter and the food that was brought out was fantastic. We had spinach dip, ribs, salad, sirloin, loaded baked potatoes, and broccoli casserole. I recommend them all! Delicious! I saw a roach on the floor on the way out. My food wasn't good. My salmon was served without rice, because they ran out. My broccoli was mushy and brown. My niece's plate was served with green beans on the plate and the juice ran over the rest of her food. We sent it back and she was given the same food. read more
