It was about 7.50 after paying in cash. I waited for a couple minutes, and it my name was called to pick up my order. I ate outside in a small bench. The hotdog was loaded with the toppings like relish, pickles, and peppers. I added mustard and ketchup too. The hotdog was plump, and the toppings were alright. It isn't as good as Portillos, but still decent for the price. It was filling for lunch too. The atmosphere is the same, but the party room in the back is now available in you have an extra air conditioned space to eat. It wasn't that crowded outside, but there were quite a few inside. I guess more people wanted the cooler area as it was a bit hot and humid outside. Parking can sometimes be hard to get in the front, so there is a back area too. There is a small stage for concerts now, but I haven't seen any yet. The mechanical horse still works, but the dino one was out of order, and the dolphin one looks to be gone. Staff is pretty quick and friendly. I am glad I ate here again on Sunday as the food was good and filling. No complaints for 7.50 on a footlong Nathan Chicago dog. We told the woman behind the counter we were newbies and she said welcome and told us to just study the board. We both decided on the Long New Yorker with a side of fries. It was cut in half, (think foot-long) it was a little hard to eat, but it was so deliciously filled with yummy ingredients. It had Kraut, spicy mustard and a sweet onion sauce like they have in NY. It was so good, but when I am in the area again, I'll just opt for the short version. :) Stop in and give this gem since 1960 a chance, who knows, you might even run into Elvis while you are there. ;)

They were out of several items which we had intended to order. The staff seemed disinterested in taking care of business. A big table in the back corner was upended, broken and roped off. There were dirty, wet tables everywhere and the bench seats were covered in sand. I got a chocolate cone and my Fab One got a Banana Split. Not what we originally wanted but it's hard to mess those up. We ate at a table outside. I noticed the big American flag proudly flying in the breeze. Only problem is, Flag Etiquette requires a flag to be taken down at sunset, unless it is illuminated. There are no up lights so the flag is flying in darkness. A minor point to some, but to us Veterans this means a lot. Since that first visit, we've gone back 4 times. Each time has been progressively better. Our last visit, this week, the place was fairly clean. That broken table has finally been repaired. We got the items we wanted and the staff was pretty friendly and proficient. But, they still need to take that flag down at sunset or put in some up lights.

A meal combo? Probably just heartburn. The Bacon Egg Cheese Biscuit was about the size of a slider. But it sure didn't slide down. The biscuit was like eating a wad of newspaper. Dry. Dry. Dry. And you get ONE hash brown! Wow! Really! Talk about downsizing. The 'meal' took about 2 minutes to consume. Most of that was choking down that dry biscuit. Yuck.
