We had Simply Gutters install buried drainage from our downspouts to help prevent water seeping…read moreinto our basement. They were nearly twice the price of another quote we received. We decided to go with Simply Gutters partially because we've had bad experiences with the lowest bidder, but also because there was some very minor damage caused when coming out to give a quote and it was owned up to and fixed quickly. When they came to do the job, there were clear communication issues. The workers were not following the plan that had been discussed even the same morning. We had to babysit them every step of the way and get them to redo many things that were not what we wanted. After the job was done, there was no inspection by a project manager, it was just done. We found that the drains were not flowing freely. They ended up coming and using a pressure washer to clear the pipes. There had been an offhand comment about not knowing that the PVC connectors were installed the correct direction. This led me to dig and find that they were installed backwards. Simply Gutters agreed to come out and replace them. The worker who came out seemed to really struggle with the job, and took a lot of shortcuts. He tried to not glue anything and lied to my face when I told him it wasn't glued. He broke a part and tried to reinstall the same part that was installed wrong. He again lied to me by saying that he didn't know he was supposed to fix that one. This continued for some time and he ended up causing new problems during this repair. I documented all of the many problems that we had with the work that was done and provided it to the owner of the company as feedback, expressing my frustration, and saying I was tempted to dig things up and fix it myself. I got no response, so I followed up over a week later. The response included "I can't change it now". I took this as him not wanting to make it right. I began fixing things myself, only to find many more problems. In most areas, the pipes were angled significantly uphill. There were buried connections that were not even together, leading to leaks. At the end of all of it, I estimate I put in 40 hours of work, $300 in materials, and dug about 90 feet of trench.Through this process, I continued communication with the owner, requesting a refund. On 12/9/2025 he said that he would send a check to cover MY labor, and said he was putting it in the mail on 12/19/2025. As of 1/10/2026, I have not received any form of refund. Also, in the email on 12/19/2025, the owner included the statement "Thank you for another update that's explaining the same thing that the last 15 emails said." This was received after I spent the whole day (of my vacation, no less), digging and fixing their mess in below freezing temperatures. The snark was really not appreciated. This was the last time I received any response A Better Business Bureau complaint was filed on 1/18/2026. It was closed on 2/14/2026 due to no response from the business. Their website falsely advertises that they are BBB accredited. This is a company that is completely incompetent at doing this kind of work, even though they charge a price that implies that they are experts. I used Lewis Crafton five years ago to replace my septic pump and he did a fantastic job for a fair price. When I saw some issues with one of my lines recently, I had to call another company because Crafton was busy. The other company came out and shut the line off and I didn't see him again, for the next year. I wanted to close out the permit so I called the company who started the job, and he would not commit to a day, or even a week. So, I called Lewis Crafton again and he was over the next day, assessed the issue with the county inspector, and the day after the job was completed. It was a fairly major repair with two lines having to be replaced. They worked non-stop and caused minimal damage to my yard with their heavy equipment. I hope I never need septic work again, but if I do, I will only call Lewis Crafton.

So I have had a year with plumbers and plumbing issues, it seems like…read more Nothing major, but what were two minor issues resulted in asking for follow-up from another plumber who did a little work; while that plumber was friendly and made extra stops free of charge to follow up on his work, the issues were never really fully resolved. Another issue came up (minor, but necessary) so we looked around for a different plumber in our area. Found "Above the Rest" via Google and called, booked an appointment. They did a full inspection and diagnosed our issues, eased our worries on some other issues, and we called them back to install a sink which they did shortly after in less than an hour. They also took care of our other issues. Friendly, fast, efficient, and fairly priced. Would recommend to others.

He and his partner were on time, respectful of our property. Most importantly they did a great job on every surface and at a fair price. They got a lot of work done in a single day, including an area they missed but cleaned later. They did a pretty good job of putting everything back in the right place and were very attentive when we did our walk around inspection. I would highly recommend Kagan for the quality of work, responsiveness and pricing. I will definitely consider him for sealing my concrete or for concrete projects. He is hardworking and deserves your consideration for your work as he grows his business.

I am so disappointed in the service we received. I feel like everything about the job went wrong…read morefrom the moment I signed the contract (that I had to insist on, and thankfully I did considering the following). I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's honestly been a nightmare. We hired Kagan to do a large concrete slab and a retaining wall in our backyard and not only were they late or no-shows almost every single day, once they got their first installment of payment, but it is actually done completely wrong (wall isn't straight, a large dip in the slab causing water to pool by our foundation, and also no joints in the slab which we've since found out is necessary and will cause cracking if not fixed). then when we expressed discontent, they made promises to refund a portion of the cost and then changed their mind and that they'd rather try to fix it. at this point we didn't really trust them but they told us exactly how they'd fix it, and then all they did was smear some more concrete (and leaves!) on it (i've included pictures). they said they were licensed and insured, and I now know to check that and not trust someone at their word. once we escalated the conversation after they said they "fixed it" and expressed that this is enough of a problem for us to have to go through legal channels, he basically said sue me. so, after spending time getting quotes from other companies on what it's going to take to fix it, we are now in the process of speaking to an attorney to sue for what it's going to take. we have every communication back and forth saved and based on that information and the pictures, our attorney says we have a good case. I'm honestly bummed that it's come to this, and I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I am so supremely disappointed in the lack of integrity this company shows and am not willing or able to pay for their very expensive mistake that will only cause more damage to my home as time goes on. They should certainly not be doing large concrete jobs, and even if they did learn to do it right eventually, I could never recommend someone with so little integrity. I will update this comment if/when there is a resolution and if they made it right.
