I highly recommend Steakley Plumbing…read more The people I've dealt with here are always professional and reliable. They actually do what they say, when they say. I've used Steakley twice and each time the problem was efficiently resolved. The most recent issue involved our tankless water heater. It was leaking and stopped working. The technician, Jeremy, identified the issue, got the unit working, ordered the necessary part, and installed the part once it arrived. I couldn't have asked for better service or for a better result. Jeremy's actions ensured we had hot water throughout the repair process. It's hard to put a value on that, but I know how much my family appreciates it. I encourage you to call Steakley when you have plumbing needs.

I was quoted for a sewer line repair, which after breaking ground we realized I had a septic tank and not a sewer. He then filled back up the hole and was on his way. Both Andy & Randy were friendly, but it was such a poor value and over priced. I was charged $1,100 for someone to dig up a hole and then fill back in the hole. This process took 4.5 hours of work of just digging, as he didn't have the proper equipment. They used a saw to cut into the asphalt and I was charged for a saw rental, as well as an added service fee. The saw was dull and not working, which I was told at the time by the plumber. You would assume they would have the proper equipment to do the job. I then had to hire another company come out to investigate further. They dug a much bigger hole with the proper equipment and it took 30 minutes (compared to the same thing taking 4.5 hours with a hand shovel). Do not hire this company, it is a complete rip off with poor communication. Andy did discount my bill and took off an hour of work, but I am still left with a $900 bill of just having a hole dug and then filled back in poorly. Attached is a photo of my $1000 and 4.5 hour of digging hole that was 2' deep by 2'x 3'

Brad, with American Plumbing Co was the first to respond in person; he was there about 45 minutes after I called. He got to deliver both the news of it can't be fixed and it's not cheap. He then quickly encouraged me to shop around while he put together a couple of options and estimates. I did shop around; the costs were depressing, but Brad called me back about an hour later with 3 of the best options and estimates I had received. He was also able to come out the very next afternoon and install our new water heater. Spending that kind of money unexpectedly for a water heater wasn't my idea of fun, but Brad made the experience a better and easier one.

His was the second highest bid of three requested, but decided he seemed most understanding and professional to correct an apparent drainage clog. This occurred in a basement bathroom, serving two guest bedrooms there, suddenly unappealing due to a smelly situation started by the messy back-flow this spring. Although it took awhile to have him come and complete the contract (bid at an estimated $4,750), I offered him slightly more than a 20% deposit in May, which he declined as too little. Mistakenly, considering his confided personal problem at home, I upped the deposit to $4,000. All of this occurred early in June; however, despite the high pre-payment, we were consistently delayed due to Covid backup of jobs. Finally just prior to our holiday July 4th family reunion, he and a couple assistants arrived, dug a couple holes supposedly to examine the existing drainage pipe (we thought deteriorated), but he ruled OK. Weeks later, he returned, this time carrying a camera/computer (he'd borrowed), showing the Mrs. and me a disc displaying some sort of streaming water to assure us "our" old drainage pipes were properly flowing. All of this was part and parcel of a delayed response and apparently his decision to conclude our contract. When Mrs. Trott queried him further (before departing for another job), he mumbled something about buying acreage near Jackson, TN, and moving over there. Yet nothing about refunding any of our unnecessary hugh deposit paid. Of course, we've since experienced additional backup flows and despite our limited retirement income (I'm retired military), we must now engage a more helpful plumbing professional. We certainly don't recommend this company, surely dis-Advantaged for senior citizens, at least. - Mr. Wm. Trott, Nashville.
