Quick response and Jance did a great job replacing a faucet at a fair price. I will use again and recommend their services.

Got quotes for repair and replacing my HVAC system from multiple companies. Maynard was the best…read morequote by far and they installed the new system quickly and neatly I really appreciate their help and so glad to have a new system that I hopefully sail not have to repair any time soon. Only negative was I was quoted a smart thermostat and did not receive one. Would have been nice but not necessary. They were also supposed to come and inspect the install and appointments were made and rescheduled a couple of times. They didn't show last week and didn't reschedule this time, so I guess I need to give them a call.

I was having problems with my thermostat not accurately regulating the temperature in my home. I…read morecontacted another provider the week prior who checked my HVAC but was not able to determine the specific reason why the inaccurate temperature readings were occurring. This provider did state, however, it definitely WAS NOT my compressor nor my panel board since these two systems were thoroughly checked and tested. I contacted American Veteran's United (AVU) (formerly Maynard) who came to assess the same problem and said I just needed a new thermostat. The "new" thermostat worked for 2 1/2 days, then went back to inaccurate temperature readings. I contacted AVU again and the same technician came, evaluated the system again, and stated I now needed a new compressor package costing $1499.00. My HVAC was purchased on 11/2024 and should NOT need a new compressor; but the technician stated AVU (formerly Maynard) has no control over the parts received, but if I purchased the new compressor, it "will probably" resolve the problem. I reconsidered the estimate and sought another opinion. My HVAC was reassessed by the previous provider who found (and I personally observed) the AVU technician DID NOT: 1) Connect the "C" wire to the thermostat; 2) Program the "new" thermostat in its entirety (which required using the online programming guide); 3) Reconnect all the outside panels and tubing [with four (4) screws missing & one screw broken off]; 4) Connect the "heat" line from the panel board (which had been pulled out and prevented receiving heat); and 5) Check the fuses to see if they were burned out. The compressor DID NOT require replacing at all! Based solely upon my personal experiences with AVU/Maynard, it appears their HVAC "assessments" have a tendency to be inaccurate and DEFINITELY require a 2nd opinion. Their equipment is marginal at best; and if I had proceeded with AVU's recommendations, I would have spent in excess of $1499.00; when it was fixed for less than $400.00. I believe people of advanced age (especially single women) are a population that AVU targets for "recommended" exorbitant charges. The older population needs to proceed with caution with this provider.

I reached out to over a dozen plumbers to see if I could get an estimate. Almost all of them were…read moreunable to come out without a service fee, but Frank offered to send someone out to quote it without a charge. That was the first thing that won me over. I don't understand when service professionals can't give you a best case/worst case without seeing the issue or at least do a complimentary quote to win the business. I know that it costs the business money to send someone out to quote it, but that to me is a business expense or should be at least applied to the job if move forward. My concern is that I wouldn't be able to afford the fix and wanted to know what to expect and be assured it was competitive. I hate the idea of paying a $60-90 call fee to get a quote and then potentially not move forward with the service. Seems like a risk if the quote came back as something I just could not afford on site or if it was not competitive. I understand that there are a lot of variables so it's necessary to scope the situation out, but it just doesn't seem like a good way to win business or build rapport. The good news and the point to my short rant here is that Frank at GNC did not charge me to send someone out to look at the issue. GNC was easy to communicate through via email, another bonus for me. I submitted email forms to many and most had a call center call me and leave me messages - not a great way for me to communicate during the day, I much prefer email, so that was a plus too. The plumber showed up on time and were very professional and friendly. They took a look and provided me an estimate. The estimate was higher than another plumber who had been out before to fix the same issue last year, but I felt a sense of trust with Chris who was sent. He was great, explained everything that was going on, and with a smile. I decided to move forward with the job same day, I didn't need to shop around, the experience and trust level was there. When he opened the wall, he identified areas where the last plumber (the more affordable one I mentioned) could have done better to mitigate risk of the hose bib from freezing again. There were a few things that could have been better attended to and Chris did just that. He took every opportunity to do the best work he could do to help keep the bib warm next winter. I was very nervous going into this because I have had poor experiences in the past. I will recommend GNC to anyone of my friends in need of a qualified and caring plumber.
