I visited Chauncy's Kitchen early afternoon last Saturday for a monthly meetup with a girlfriend. We try to check out different places each month and this one was among the absolute all-time best! The reviews helped me not miss the location because it is tucked in the corner next to a gas station. Chaucy's is quaint and welcoming. Upon entering, Chef Chauncy welcomed us to sit at the bar which is more like the chef's table. I began with the Lychee martini, which truly is one of the best I've ever had. It was so well made that my friend who wasn't going to drink decided to order one. Next up was the "Crunchy Baked Cajun Okra" appetizer. The okra was expertly seasoned and breaded to perfection. The vegan dipping sauce that accompanied the okra took it to another level. At this point, I knew we'd struck gold with Chauncy's ! I thought to myself, look at what God did for meeee today!! Yes- that good. Everything is made fresh to order and there is no freezer in the establishment, so some menu items run out or are not available. My first choice, Collard Green Stew, was unavailable, so I opted to try the "FUFU Tacos." This is Chef Chauncy's original creation. I've tried traditional fufu on several occasions, in Africa and here at home, but did not care for it. HOWEVER, these fufu tacos just got better with each bite. What Chef Chauncy did with fufu in this dish is nothing short of transformational. Each one was filled to the max and I was nearly in a food coma at that point. Chef Chaucy allowed me to sample the Jollof Rice and it was also superior to any other jollof I've tried! My friend had Grilled Salmon because Snapper wasn't available. Her eyes seemed to be rolling in the back of her head as she ate what she could of her dish, so I'd venture to say that the salmon was spectacular as well. I simply didn't have room in my body to consume anything else, so I did not get to try any of the desserts. Chauncy's Kitchen is a place to be experienced, not just another place to grab a bite. We had no need to rush our experience, so Chef Chauncy was able to share stories with us and even a few cooking gems while he prepared each course. Chef Chauncy is very humble and it is evident that he actively shows his care and concern for the community in which he is sharing his culinary gifts. Well, well done Chef Chauncy! I am rooting for your well-deserved success and urge all readers to experience Chauncy's for yourself. Of note, parking is limited (shared gas station lot) but this food and drink is so good that I'd park somewhere in the area and uber if I had to!! Not at all kidding. read more

I love the concept of Chauncey's and enjoyed getting to meet Chauncey and hear about his food. His passion is evident. The restaurant is small but quaint. Located next to a gas station in the corner so it's easy to miss. At 7pm on a Friday we were the only people in the restaurant. Firstly, everything was very fresh and made to order which means it may take 15-20min. We started with the signature wings with lemon pepper flavor. The wings were great, although small. For entrees we got the Fufu tacos and initially ordered Liberian Jollof Rice with shrimp but had to sub jasmine rice due to being out of jollof. That was pretty disappointing they were out of Jollof given its a menu staple. We ended up having to pay the same price but it seems like simple Jasmine cilantro rice should have been less than our original order of Jollof. The fufu tacos really are unique, it's hard to explain but I liked them. A little heavier than tortilla. Finally, we were offered a free taste of the garlic cassava Parmesan fries. Tried this spot with a group. Between the 8 of us, not one person was disappointed! Across the table we ordered: - Fried okra - a HIT!!! So yummy! - Yucca fries - Jollof burrito - Shrimp pasta - Cassava leaf stew with jollof rice - Plantain (ginger and glaze added .. a little sweet) I ordered the veggie jollof rice, fufu tacos - also YUMMY - and fufu chips I enjoy West African food and this Liberian cuisine was no different. I won't comment on the jollof rice in comparison to other versions I've had but the fufu chips and tacos were UNMATCHED. Yes, the spot is located next to a gas station but so what?!?? We were all able to park and had no issues with the venue. The ONLY reason there are 4 stars is because we were a large party (8) WITH reservations. There has to be better prep for delivering on such an extensive menu, especially for large parties. Otherwise, DEFINITELY worth a try! This spot is located connected to a gas station plaza. There is limited parking. Came in, it wasn't anyone there but staff. The new server did her best with answering questions prior to ordering. I got the chicken tacos and jollof rice along with fried corn and lemonade. It took over an hour to get the food so by the time we ate, I was tired. The food was good overall. There were some requests that were not met or how the food was prepared was air to the chef. An example is my companion asked for a regular bun and was told okay but it was a fufu or plantain bun. IT was an okay experience. I spent about 100 there so it will probably not be some place I spend that kind of money on again. The Space is small and intimate with a beautiful aesthetic perfect for a date night or girls night out. Every item we ate was absolutely delicious. The depths of flavor were a delight to our taste buds. Seeing everything made fresh and from scratch elevated each dish. I couldn't pick a favorite as every dish was a star. The lamb chops were so tender and flavorful. The Palm Butter wings were cooked to perfection and saucy. The FuFu Tacos are Chef Chauncy's specialty and I had the shrimp ones and let me tell you I had no idea what was inside the shell but every bite made me want to take another. If you want something warm and filling then the FuFu Dumpling Soup Will be perfect for the fall and winter. read more

It was our first time here, and it was an amazing experience! Chauncy introduced himself to us personally and told us about the menu. The waiter (I don't remember his name) was also very personable. Between the beautiful artwork & decor, impeccable service, and Liberian music playing, we felt at peace. We had the cassava fries, garlic Parmesan wings, and fufu tacos. Food was amazing, I had the fried okra, Yuka fries, palm butter chicken wings, and the snapper with cilantro rice. Every dish was flavorful and the service was 5 star. I have to take a moment to highlight one of the best dining experiences I've had in the Atlanta-Metro in a long time. Chauncy's Kitchen is an Afro- Infusion eatery nestled discreetly in Stone Mountain on South Indian Creek & Redan Rd. I didn't know what to expect when we pulled up, but we were NOT disappointed. Chef Chauncy greeted us immediately and warmly. He shared details about his establishment and his culinary craftsmen ship. This is a vegan friendly restaurant. He imports and makes his own seasonings, and he does not use salt when cooking! Instead, he uses salt water. This food was absolutely delicious with the very affordable price point and the portions were huge! Detailed below are the dishes in order as pictured. There is no email and the phone number on this profile is just a Google Voicemail they never respond to. Only take your chances through UberEats because the company will refund you. Being African I was curious about the fufu taco, but definitely was going to try other dishes. I ordered the chicken and beef fufu taco. Lamb chop and salmon dish as well as yuca fries. The fufu taco was delicious! It is innovative things like this that make culinary ART. The lamb chops and salmon were cooked to perfection in this amazing sauce! Couldn't finish the yuca fries as I tasted a bit of everything and got comatose full lol but now I see why he is a celebrity chef. Trust me...just try it. I guarantee you will come back for more. Already thinking on what to order next time. Keep in mind, as this may not be clear, that this location does not have seating. My go to order is the grilled Whole Snapper over Jollof rice or cilantro rice, you can't go wrong with either . The chef's signature dish is his famous fufu tacos which are amazing as well. Too be honest it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu! Prices are a little high but paying for quality ingredients and a chef who cares don't have a price in my books.
