I attended Easter brunch yesterday and it was overall disappointing. First of all, it was so cold in there that quite a few of the patrons were wearing their coats, and another few were sitting outside in front of the fireplace. None of the food was hot. I had turkey, and they didn't even have any gravy! The vegetables were undercooked and under seasoned. The ham was so salty. I couldn't even eat it. Went here for a wedding earlier this summer. The outdoor area in the back is perfect for a Baraat. The groom and his wedding party made their grand entrance on a yacht, dancing their way off the boat, onto the dock and towards the building. Meanwhile, the bride watched from her suite which also overlooked the water. The wedding hall itself has floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for natural sunlight and perfect for pictures. The dining area is rather small but tables outside are perfect for smaller groups, weather permitting. read more

Hello all, I went here for New Year's Eve 23. I post a lot for quality of food. But this case not soo much. The food was cafeteria at best. However the Staff and Entertainment was amazing. Or table waiter or bus. Was Sooo nice had our table clean asked us if we needed anything the whole night. My close family member don't move around so well, so it was so nice to have a staff member there like that. I believe his name was Jon. The place was clean and the bathrooms were real clean and had ample room. Now for the entertainment. These guys made our night. They gave out fun lights that we were able to raise up to the music as well as had a fun upbeat variety of music. They also came around several times to Make sure the music was not over powering our table since we got stuck close to the makeshift area there stuff was on. When they seen my family Member not able to move around well they made it a point to visit us try to get some of us out there with them and give my spouse a light stick to shake around while we danced and they sat. I truly felt like someone came out and looked after us. Great job Chateau. We will be back next year ready for some more fun hopefully with double the amount of people from this year. Please don't be angry but the food was only look Warm on some of the trays. Got to use a better heat source. The entertainment made up for it. read more

Got the opportunity to attend a friend's wedding at Chateau La Mer. The bride and groom were absolutely stunning with the ballroom area decorated nicely according to the color scheme and vibe. I really liked how there was an elevated area in the front center of the ballroom for a throne to be placed for the bride and groom. The staff were all very friendly but were not wearing masks. If you're driving, they have valet parking so you can drop your car off upon arrival. The venue was very nice and had multiple rooms to plan your perfect day/event. They also had an outdoor area above water which was beautiful and perfect for pictures. Besides some technically difficulties with the mics and the separated areas being a bit smaller than expected, overall Chateau La Mer was great! read more

Good Morning fellow Yelpers and a Happy New Year to all. The review I am about to write is honest. 2023 started off badly for 300 plus people that attended New Year's Eve 2022 at Chateau La Mer. I had a feeling all week it would not live up to all the hype. The problems began when a couple from our party could not attend. It doesn't matter who. I contacted the Manager Taylor for a refund ! In her NASTY words NO REFUNDS. We only give refunds if we cancel. Then she said SELL the tickets. It took a week but I did it. Now fast forward to the New Year's Eve Party. The Cocktail Hour was horrible. ALL CHEAP CRAP. I ate 3 pieces steamed chicken and veggies. The room was over crowded. Next my friends and I go over to our table. We were told 10 at a table . There was 14 people all sitting cramped together. It's called over selling! Then we all go to dance with 300 plus people on a small dance floor. THE MUSIC WAS HORRIBLE. It was probably a staff person DOWNLOADING HORRIBLE MUSIC ! Way too loud. Now we order our main dish. Filet Mignon 4 measly Shrimp in the side. I tell the waiter 4 TIMES please no Shrimp on my husband's plate. The food came out 11:30 PM! We were the LAST TABLE served and my husband gets SHRIMP. I sent it back! Suffice to say as we started eating DESSERT comes out. The waiter threw the dessert down and left. Fifteen minutes later my husband gets his shrimp free steak. It is now 11:50 PM ! THE STEAK WAS NOT FILET MIGNON. It was crap. By the way the waiter poured my friend on the left's champagne and over filled the glass so her steak was ruined. I move out of the way and spill champagne on my friend on the right's lap. We dried off her steak and packed it up with mine to bring home to puppy. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. I came home miserable and hungry! At least I saw my friends. My hope is that when people read this they decided to never go to another function here EVER. I visited Chateau La Mer for a recent wedding. The venue looked amazing. The food was great along with the service. I ordered the salmon for dinner, but also requested for some potatoes on the side. The waitress came right away with a side plate which made my night. The only downfall was that I was looking for some kind of sugar free desserts. The head lady in charge of the venue stated that they don't provide sugar free deserts at all, so I wasn't able to try any of the desserts that were provided at the wedding. I attended the New Year's Eve celebration for 2024. This was a major disappointment & probably the worst I've experienced. Chateau La Mer should be ashamed! The place was very overcrowded, disorganized and the food was close to cafeteria quality. They had a cocktail room set up with the food, which accommodated not only people at tables in that room, but also all the people in the main ball room. Two lines converging on one another. Lots of empty chafing dishes. People were becoming very rude and angry over the lack of food available. The dance floor in the main ball room was wet from people drinking while dancing. Near the bar in the main ball room, the floor was wet and, as I predicted, a middle-aged man slipped and fell. The ladies room was filthy! The toilet stalls were littered with toilet paper and water all over the place. The sinks were filthy with water all over the place. Wasn't a matron assigned to keep up with this? I would not recommend this place to anyone. I've had much better experiences at a church hall, which was organized, had great food, a live band and much cheaper. read more

Attended a wedding here last summer and it's was centered on Indian traditions. The food seem to be as well. A lot of food with good spices and robust flavors. The ceremony was beautiful and so was the service of the staff!!!! It was a long drive coming from the city but it was well worth it. read more

We came here for a friends wedding ... greeted by valet parking ... walked into the lobby which was beautiful! Main floor bathroom was super elegant & clean! Love the outside seating area over looking the water. Cocktail hour was great.... I didn't finish picking up an hors d'oeuvre when another waiter was offering me another one... & they were all delicious!! Everything from potato pancakes, shrimp on cucumber, strawberries stuffed w creme cheese, spring rolls, shish kabobs, chicken teriyaki... omg I can go on there was so much! & again all of it was sooooooo gooooood! On top of that there was a buffet of cold pasta, cheese, salads, seafood & fruits! I order a coke & rum & that was made to perfection! Then we went upstairs to the party & I was a bit disappointed because it didn't look as clean & elegant as downstairs... the bathrooms were dirty & didn't flush, another one was out of service, floor was wet... that's a bit disappointing considering the bride/ groom are paying so much money for the place. At one point I couldn't hear the speech of the groom because the music from the party downstairs was so loud (they should of coordinated that better or have some type of sound control) we went to our table & there was cesar salad already plated, which the lettuce looked/ tasted soggy & old. However it did get better .... that was followed by penne ala vodka which was good... then there was a choice of filet mignon, salmon & chicken ... I got the filet mignon which was super tender & delicious.. the couple next to us got salmon & they too loved their meal too ... it was served with a potato croquette which my only complaint was I wanted more because it was so good ! read more

I can't believe it's taken me almost 3 years to review my wedding venue. My husband and I got married here July 12, 2014. We had looked at probably a dozen other wedding venues, but nothing really compared to this vision I had in my head of my perfect wedding venue...until we got to CLM. First off, the view is fantastic. There's nothing better than being right on the water. This is Long Island, after all! The back patio is decorated nicely with real palm trees. We got married in the bigger ballroom on the first floor, and it is seriously stunning. Windows from the floor to the ceiling, marble floors...so beautiful and elegant without being gaudy. We had a tasting there with my family, and everything we had was delicious; I've been to a lot of weddings, and a lot of times the food is just so-so. The food there is out of this world! But what really sold me was the big entrance the bride and groom get to make during cocktail hour...we got brought up on a yacht!! Lou, the banquet manager, said "Your friends and family will be on the dock, waving and welcoming you to your new life...." and bam, we were hooked. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding day. To this day, people still tell me that my wedding was the best wedding they'd ever been to. Thank you Chateau La Mer! Location, Location, Location. Chateau La Mer has location folks- located right on the Great South Bay it is a great place to have (or have to go to ) a wedding reception. We went to a few wedding receptions here and all were pretty good - both food and drink wise. One wedding actually took place on the veranda where they have a gazebo set up specifically for that occasion. Whether or not you get married there, if the weather is nice, they have some sort of deal with the marina next door where they put the bride and groom on a big boat (like a 40-50 footer) and bring them over by water so that all the guests can line up outside and see them arrive- hopefully they don't fall in the drink! I believe that there are only three rooms - upstairs and down and all overlook the water. The food was very good and the bartenders were seemingly better than the usual catering bar staff- but then again all the affairs I went to were thrown by people who are "drinkers" and maybe they paid more for competent help. I was a recent guest for a small wedding of about 130-140 8/28. The ceremony was to start at 4:30p outside on the dock, but didn't start until 4:45p. It was also quite humid at low tide...so imagine the smell. We weren't sure if it was the actual party or the venue's tardiness that led to the ceremony being late, but it took about 10 min to get through it in total... Once they were finished, we were ushered inside for cocktail hour. The room felt small and cramped with low ceilings. The couple had added the seafood bar for cocktail hour- but there were not enough lobsters for everyone, and not even a claw cracker? We had asked for one as the shells were very hard to crack with fork, teeth, sheer strength, etc.- but the staff refused to give it to us. Guests were ripping the claws right off of the empty tail shells at the bar as they picked their lobsters out. When we went up to the reception- that's where their service truly started to show. The bar in the cocktail hour room was small, but the bar upstairs was even smaller. It looked so cramped for the bartenders to work between each other by the restrooms around the corner. The restrooms were so humid, and only 1 stall worked out of the 3 upstairs. Women had to travel back downstairs to use the restroom just to be comfortable. When entrees were being selected, a family member of ours asked for her filet mignon to be cooked rare. She even wrote it down on their check as they took our table order. By the time entrees came- my salmon was very dry, another guest had cold chicken cordon bleu and had to send it back, and my family had very well done filet. We had told the staff she ordered it rare, but they got so frustrated, that they waved us off and ignored us to continue serving the rest of the tables. That was quite upsetting to experience as a guest. They even ended up dropping some meals they were about to serve! I'm not sure why the service was horrendous yesterday night, but there were 3 events happening simultaneously, including ours. The venue seemed to have been severely understaffed and unequipped to handle this particular event. Just got done attending a wedding here. They were on the ball with everything. Very prompt with drinks and fixing anything out of place on the tables. Food was good. They had a good number of tasty choices for the cocktail hour all prepared well. Dinner was good too. My cousin happened to have an engagement party here last week. I am glad to say the food was pretty good (buffet style), and the staff was very nice and accommodating. I did not run across the infamous man in the funny colored suit jacket as I mentioned in my previous post. I have also heard through the grapevine that he is no longer working there. I had my reception there this past October. It was beautiful. But the unnecessary distress and frustrations dealing with the staff leading up to the wedding was uncalled for. First off, I dealt with Ron who initially sat down with us. He walks off after the pandemic, without a word. No one from the venue bothered to inform us of him leaving his job. After numerous unanswered calls, and dealing with rude receptionists, we dealt with Taylor H. Watch out all my future brides out there, she was rude, obnoxious and unprofessional. She changed the initial contract, added obscene charges. Refused to apologize even when she knew she was wrong and was called out on it. It was a mess!? I remembered coming in to make a payment, and my balance increased instead of decreasing?! And finally dealt with Raj Yama. All went well up until the week of event. They will Insist on cash payments, but do make sure you get a receipt. Even though the venue is beautiful, the staff there....not so great. From the rude receptionists who lack manners, to Ron who quits without informing the client, to Taylor and her unprofessional attitude, To Raj who failed to produce a receipt after accepting large sums of money. When the error was caught, he refused to come to the phone. I tried to get a hold of him for three weeks!!! Talk about unprofessional! Documents the wrong receipt date on the final bill. Oh!! And another thing!? pay close attention to said final bill!!! So, to all my future brides out there, be careful when choosing Chateau La Mer. I attended a wedding here last night and the entire venue was beautiful. From the main entrance to the outdoor ceremony site everything was pristine. (I loved how they had the outdoor palm trees lit up during the evening I felt like I was in Miami!) As you enter the cocktail hour and then after the main dining room both environments were welcoming. The workers were nice and attentive. The amount of food was overwhelming, I definitely couldn't eat everything that was presented but the items I tried were very good. Recently came here for a wedding and let me tell you... This place is awful! The actual venue itself is nice. The place where the ceremony was held was next to the water and was romantic. The inside hall was nice as well, although a bit gawdy. Cocktail hour, which is typically the best part of a wedding, was terrible! Small room with small tables where people were all over each other. The food was absolutely inedible! They had pasta, calamari, eggplant Parm, sausage and peppers, chicken and meat with vegetables on skewers, cold anti-pasta station with cold seafood, breads, etc. The only thing out of all of that that my family and I liked was the sausage and peppers. Even the seafood, with clams, shrimp, muscles was bland and boring! Was hoping dinner would be better, Unfortunately it was worse! Cocktail hour was around 630-7 they didn't serve dinner until 1030! Choices were prime rib, pistachio crusted mahi-mahi and a stuffed chicken. I knew the mahi-mahi was going to be over cooked and I was right. My sister ordered it and it was hard as a rock and inedible...they literally could not eat a single bite. I went with the prime rib on the waiters recommendation and although it was rare, which I requested and like, it was tough as nails! Had a piece of someone else's chicken, it was the only dish that was ok. We immediately asked the waiter to take these dishes back and give us the chicken...he never came back to bring us replacement meals or check on us. The sides of potatoes and asparagus were the only things that were edible. By the way, When I say the food was inedible I mean it really was that bad that you couldn't eat it...I am not exaggerating! it was absolutely awful... many of us left to go get food after the wedding! Yes, a wedding... where people pay 100 to 200 ahead... we had to go buy food elsewhere because the food was that bad that we couldn't eat it! As far as the bar, the bartenders were fine, they did a good job. Unfortunately, the place is Substituting cheaper booze for the top shelf stuff. they had a huge bottle of Grey goose... we noticed that the bottle label was totally worn down And saw this on other bottles! Clearly substituting cheaper booze in premium bottles! As far as the music, they hired a DJ that was provided by the facility...The music was so loud even my young nephews were saying please lower the music! We asked them to lower it, they didn't Lower it at all! So I guess if you get an amazing deal at this place and you want to cut the cost of your wedding then do it, but be prepared for unhappy guests when it comes to food! A complete disappointment. Didn't have there act together. Was there for a Sweet 16 and the poor girl was completely disappointed at everything. They made loads of mistakes. Candelabras were not set up on time, the bridal sweet was like a sweatbox, broke the special Sweet 16 Candle and didn't own up to it........need I go on. When the host called to speak with the Manager/owner no one returned her call. They were fast enough to call when you wanted to book the affair. Had part 2 of my daughter's indian wedding here (the baarat). The place looked good & we took the premium package expecting top of the line service. Reviewing Chateau La Mer the food was cold, not awfully tasty, set up weirdly, and all around a hot mess. Dinner was not announced causing confusion among the guests with some eating & others wondering where to go & when.The brides assistant was mostly absent and was seen chatting with other people during critical moments for the bride (rukshati, speeches, etc). They also missed packing food for the bride and groom and as a result of their unacceptable, unprofessional, and all around inhospitable and greedy behavior, the bride and groom had to order pizza at 3AM. How crazy is that. The guy at the drinks section wasn't so hospitable either. The hall was beautiful, although, we did pay quite a pretty penny for the waterfront location. Yama, the owner ,is a sketchy guy who seems like he just wants to make a quick buck, is certainly not hospitable enough in character, and runs the whole billing system of the catering hall in a fashion that's tailored to his "get rich" scheme with all the BS additional fees. He was no where to be found or seen or heard of and the last time we met him was while we made the payments. He disappeared after we made our payments and left us with a choke-full of unnecessary added fees on our bill. The photographers we chose in the premium package turned out to be a disaster, with not much idea of indian wedding photography & generally rude,with little English proficiency. Generally bad idea to have Chinese photographers shooting indian wedding with seemingly less knowledge of ways of indian wedding..important guests were left out and important moments lost. Sameer, the manager, was an extension of Yama in greediness and demanded gratuity in a very unpleasant way along with being totally unorganized in the flow of events....Saving grace was the DJ & master of ceremony,Khurram of iNaach. I initially wrote a review about how great the service was when I went for my tour but the customer service has since changed. I was so excited when I booked this establishment for my impending nuptials which was scheduled for 2018, unfortunately my fiancé and I have since parted ways. I contacted them to try and recoup some or all of my deposit. I have sent emails. I have called relentlessly. I was told in August that I would receive a refund between 60-90 days. We are currently on day 110. Since August I have received nothing but the run around and now am being ignored when I try and contact them about my refund. It's bad enough that I am still reeling from the demise of my relationship, I was hoping this company would at least try and work something out with me and keep their word which they did not. Instead, I am given a different excuse on a regular basis. I will never recommend them to anyone and warn every potential bride to be very leery of this place. I've learned a valuable lesson. My sister in law just got married here and it was a truly perfect wedding! The food was good, the view was great, and the staff was excellent. Scott and Agnes (in particular) were very accommodating and professional throughout the entire day. They were by the bride and groom's side the whole time helping in any way they could. The ceremony was held outside and it was set up beautifully with a long aisle to walk down. The reception was upstairs with a spot light lit dance floor and a view overlooking the water. Had our wedding here August 16, 3015. Total disappointment to say the least. When we booked we were NEVER told there would be multiple weddings at the same time. The bathrooms, supplied with all of our extras for the ladies and men were used up by guests from the other weddings. Our outdoor ceremony could barely be heard thanks to the Calypso music blaring from the bar across the dock while cars zoomed with their radios blaring as well. Our bridal suite was a joke and we were told once the bridal party from the previous wedding left we could move to the suite originally promised to us. We never did see the inside of the new bridal suite we were promised. The food prior to our wedding in our bridal suite was a few slices of meat, some rolls and olives. We did have some tomatos and mozzarella cheese drenched in Balsamic Vinegar. Just what a bride wants to eat while in her white wedding dress. No cut cheese or cracker platter. No vegetables with dip. It was a joke. Fast forward to our line up in front of the fireplace before our ceremony. The previous wedding in the big ballroom had just finished moments before so the staff was cutting through our wedding line up to set up the room for our wedding. Carrying plates and napkins and favors and silverware moments before I was to walk the isle was disconcerting at best. During cocktail hour we were promised hand passes trays of scallops wrapped in bacon. Not TRAY. There was only one tray passed. In addition we had a raw bar with clams on the half shel, oysters and shrimp cocktail. The clams were NOT good and uneatable. These clams were not the usual little necks or cherry stones but rather large quahogs. Who eats quahogs on the half shell? Who eats bad clams at all? This was a letdown to me and my guests. My husband is a small airplane pilot. For a large fee and as a surprise I had an ice sculpture made in the shape of his plane with his tail number. I was told it would be safely moved from our cocktail hour to our reception room. It was moved by one nineteen year old and it was also dropped on the floor and ruined. I could go on here but the more I write and the more I think the more disappointed I become. I spent a lot of money on this venue and on this special day and would hate for anyone else to be as completely disappointed and enraged as I am. Try the exact opposite of classy... During a wedding ceremony my friend developed shortness of breath and chest pain. I asked the receptionist for aspirin and she did not have any. I asked for the BLS kit which she also did not have. I went to see my friends and I was stopped by the manager. I went to proceed after telling him I was a physician and he put his hands on me, I then pushed him off of me... I proceeded to check on my friends and once I realize she was stable I went upstairs to the party. After sitting down for about 10 to 15 minutes I was told that I needed to leave because a manager "said so". Besides being embarrassed and outraged I am upset that they didn't even have the basic first aid/acls kit available. I strongly suggest booking ur party/event elsewhere. read more

We were looking at this place as a potential venue to get married and decided against it. Giving it a 3-star as opposed to a 1-star because we didn't actually have an event there. First off, the guy we met with was a business man - plain and simple. He spoke openly about wanting to make money and about renting rooms to make more money. Secondly, we solidified an appointment and when we showed up, there was an event going on and we felt very uncomfortable going through the front door in our street clothes. They have multiple events going on at once so don't expect to have the place to yourself. Thirdly, we provided them with contact information and they wasted no time passing it along to other vendors. We received a cold call from a photographer and asked where they got the information from, to their reply: Chateau La Mer. We also started getting spam emails, but cannot determine if was from them, but given the cold call, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. To our knowledge we gave no consent with having our private information passed around that includes our email address, phone numbers and home address etc.. Overall, we had a bad vibe from the place from the second we pulled up for the appointment and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone we know. read more

Went there for NYE for a sit down party . The place never asked us what we wanted to eat they just gave steak n shrimp to everyone even if you had a shellfish allergy. Also for drinks at the bar I ordered a beer and got a 4 oz plastic cup . The people that showed up to the event were trashy I would definitely never recommend or go there again. read more

I had originally reviewed expressing some frustrations. In retrospect, I decided to change my overall delivery as the event really did go well. We had a memorial for a family member who had passed and it was, for obvious reasons, an emotional occasion. Please read to the end as I will fully explain the 4 star rating. To get a few concerns out of the way... I did not like that during cocktail hour they showed the main room to potential clients. Some of us were still setting up and in light of the circumstances, I did not feel it was appropriate. Also, there was a promise that the computer would be ready to play a slide-show. As of 10 minutes before, it was not there. The redemption was that an employee who handles Event Sales, Derrick, took a computer from downstairs and connected it. It worked and aside from a moment of frustration, the problem was reconciled. I ended up leaving an expensive piece of sound equipment there. Although the office staff was a bit difficult to communicate with, a few days later it was located. Derrick found it and thankfully kept it safe in his office. This was greatly appreciated. The 4 star rating is because 1) The food was excellent 2) The Maitre D and wait staff were attentive and communicated well during the party. When we discovered the need for another table as more guests showed up, they moved quickly to make it work. 3) The grounds/Room itself was very nice. 4) The quick thinking of a staff member saved me a considerable loss. In business, its hard to make everything perfect, but overall the event was a success because the family members who mattered most left happy. I'd send someone who was looking for a venue back here for consideration. read more
