Came here for a wedding and venue was nice and a big size with different rooms. Food was typical catering hall food. Not overly impressed with cocktail hour, calamari and some other dishes were mushy. Entrees were standard wedding fare. Staff were very nice and helpful. The cinnamon bread, which was tasty, was given out as a favor and is made in house at Milleridge. Didn't have valet parking so walk was a bit cold in the winter. Had a fun time. read more

We went to a holiday party here and I must say that the Cottage House is a first place venue to host an affair. We were greeted in the small outer room where we waited until the cocktail hour began. A large room with plenty of windows to enjoy the view (as long as you're there during daylight hours. Plenty of food... Cheese plates, vegetable plates, fruit and shrimp, shrimp shrimp with lobster and clams on the half shell. All beautifully presented...fresh and tasty. Servers walked around for the entire hour offering, sushi, pigs in the blanket (which is mandatory at all parties,) fried mozzarella and artichoke, dim sum, baby lamb chops, and crab cakes... All this food was extremely tasting and presented very well. The dinner was in the larger room (around 150-175) people attended and the tables were perfect. I was so pleased that they had 8-10 at a table not 12-14 which is definitely an over crowding situation. Food served was Prime Rib, Salmon, Duck and a chick dish. All nicely prepared (which I admire for this institutionally prepared food) and tasty... People that wanted rare received rare while those looking for those well done pieces were also accommodated. Big dance floor (with no one dancing and plenty of LOUD music. That is the only thing I DO NOT like at these parties... Bands must learn to read the crowd and play their music appropriately... This was a very large and well decorated room but you still can't hear the people on the other side of the table. The service (and all the team members) was nothing less than perfect. They have assembled a very professional team that really watches over the party activities. I happily recommend the Milleridge Cottage and look forward to my next party there. read more

Last night we attended a middle school function for my son. Athough i pass by the Milleridge and the Cottage daily on my way to work, I have never been there. As soon as we walked into the round, glass room, I knew that I was somewhere special. It was 6pm so there was still enough daylight to appreciate the gardens and the lighting change as the sun set. Little lights around the inside gave it a festive feeling. The passed appetizers were first rate and abundant...not the typical quality of a catering hall ...and the service was top notch. The evening was perfect and I can't imagine why anyone would have a function at Verdi's or Chateu Briand when it could be here for probably the same price. I hope we have more events here in the future. read more

Beautiful place to have a wedding. Was here last nite celebrating my best friend's wedding and it was wonderful. The cottage is grand and elegant. The food was soooooo delicious. The best I've had so far. Table settings were traditional floral china. Ambient lighting. Service was friendly and plentiful. My only complaint was no one came to refill the glasses with water. There is also a mini village with an ice cream parlor, christmas shoppe, general store right across the parking lot which was also so much fun to visit and look around. read more

Pam was out maitre de and hands down was the most wonderful helpful loving and caring person to help with our wedding. She was so attentive and detail oriented to every little thing. My husband and I had our wedding reception here on October 13 and it was out of this world. I could not have asked for a better experience. The entire event ran smoothly and if there were any issues, they never reached my ears. Our families raved about the food. The bartenders operated smoothly and pleasantly. Our Maitre'D, Pam, was an absolute gift. I could not have gotten through the evening without her. Before cocktail hour began, Pam insisted that we take a tour of the atrium, the entrance room, and the ballroom. I am so grateful that we were able to see everything before our guests started to arrive and it was a very special moment for my new husband and myself. The fireplace behind our sweetheart dais helped to create a beautiful atmosphere. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Jennifer was very helpful in answering my questions and in helping me to organize everything that I needed to drop off before the reception. They were willing to hold all of our materials way in advance for us and held everything for us until the day after the wedding so that we could pick them up. The piano that they have in the corner is very nice and I loved being able to have a pianist during cocktail hour. Very classy. Unfortunately, I did have a few small complaints. One, I do not think that the bakery they use for the wedding cake is very skilled at cake design. I was asked to supply decorations for my own cake (fabric leaves, ribbons, etc), while I had originally been hoping for edible fondant leaves and decorations. I spoke to the baker about creating a grooms cake for my husband and the baker was pretty much clueless about creating a slightly complicated cake design so I opted not to use them for the grooms cake. Our four-tiered wedding cake turned out lovely, but all they really did was put my ribbon and my leaves onto it. Not much effort there. The carpet on the staircase and in the front room desperately needs to be updated or removed. The only other issue that I had was the sound in the room. It seemed to me that the back corners of the room could barely hear our DJs music. This could have been helpful if I had known about it in advance (hello! stick the older people in the back corners so they don't complain about the loud music!), but not having been warned, I was disappointed that certain people could not hear the music as well as everyone else. All in all, Milleridge was a dream. My wedding exceeded my expectations and almost everyone I dealt with there was wonderful. I am forever grateful and I will recommend them highly to friends and family. read more

I truly do not know where to start The word amazing just is not enough. We celebrated our daughters wedding, at Milleridge Cottage this weekend, our guests cannot stop talking about the amount of food and how delicious it all was. Pam, and her staff are wonderful. There is nothing they can't do (well maybe not stop the rain lol). Due to the severe weather the spot for picture taking could not be used, we showed up at milleridge over a hour ahead of schedule and were not only welcomed Pam took one look at the wet and cold group and within minutes drinks,and food started to arrive. She then allowed us use of the place for all our picture taking. I could go on and on about the kindness and care Thank you everyone, I know you do this everyday. As soon as I walked into The Cottage, I knew that's where I would be having my wedding. I was looking for a timeless, classic venue with hardwood floors, plenty of space, and no tacky furnishings. The location was perfect -- equidistant from JFK and LGA for all of our guests coming in from out of town, and not far from the city (guests had no problem taking the LIRR and Ubers). I was an anxious bride and Kathy patiently handled my many questions and concerns. Our guests loved the food and had a wonderful time. Came here for a wedding. The service was just not that good. The area where the ceremony was going to take place was all set up with chiari chairs, we were one of the first people in the room and we sat in the second row. The entire room filled up, but everyone left the front row open for the wedding party and family. Someone came up to us and told us that the 2nd row was for the wedding party and we had to get up. They were serious! There were no other chairs. My 70 year old father in law had to stand with us in the back of the room. It was an ordeal. Then finally staff started putting up more chairs in the back for us. I was first one in, but in the last row and now couldn't see. Why were there not enough chairs put out in the first place? Why weren't the first TWO rows marked off, or had reserved signs? Why so disorganized? Then as the bride and groom were giving their tender heartfelt vows, all we could hear was the kitchen making awful noises, clanking dishes, and washing things! Why is the ceremony room right next to the kitchen doors? Doesn't the kitchen know a wedding ceremony is happening? Why aren't they being more conscious of their noise? Then the dinner....mine got dropped on the floor. So I had to wait a long time for a plate while everyone ate. The timing of how the food came out was not off. The dessert came out on a plate with cookies just to sit on the tables. The wedding cake was cupcakes and they brought those out much much later. Coffee came out so much later than dessert. We had our son's baptism here yesterday and it was such a wonderful event. Everyone we worked with was great, from the planning stages to the event itself. The catering manager who we planned to event with was very helpful and accommodating. We had to make some last minute changes and it wasn't a problem at all. The room was beautiful and it was so much better than I could have imagined. Our package included cheese and vegetable platters upon arrival. I thought it would be a little platter or two for people who arrived early. Instead, it was like a cocktail hour at a wedding. They had a beautiful display of food and a bar in the atrium. Dinner was delicious, much better than most catering hall food. The wait staff was attentive and very helpful. They were constantly refilling drinks without even asking. Our matire d' was terrific, she was so nice and helpful. We made slight changes throughout the day to accommodate our guests (for example extending the "cocktail hour" a little bit because everyone was having a great time). The grounds and building are beautiful, you don't feel like you are on a major road at all. My daughter loved seeing a peacock too! The weather was beautiful so the kids were able to play outside and go to the little village too. I received so many calls, texts and emails today about what a wonderful time everyone had. Had Thanksgiving here today - made Rez a month ago for 7 and had to pre-pay. Got there checked in at Cottage and were told table was ready and directed to it- only to see it was dirty and not cleared or bussed. Then asked if we could order cocktails and told we had to be seated first. After table was set 15 minutes later only silverware and napkins on the table. Next table over had pre poured water glasses. After 10 minutes of waiting for waiter- went to the front and asked for a waiter - finally one shows up- ordered cocktails - different server shows up with 3 of 7 drinks? Asked about the other 4 and he asked what they wanted- then comes back with 3 drinks- where is my mother in laws wine? What kind does she want? Then at stuffing chafing dish they serve DRY CRUMBS- stuffing has to have stock or hot water to moisten it. One of our guests asked about the prime rib- oh we ran out - come back in about a half hour. Totally UNDER-STAFFED - food not good and to think it was $72.00 per person For an establishment to be open since 1672 they should know how to operate a buffet at holiday time. STAY AWAY! read more

No way to say enough about the quality of service I received before and during my wedding back in November of 2011. Debbie, our event manager, was SO helpful. Every question we had was a "yes", and she even stayed late the night before our big day while we were stuck in traffic bringing in some last-minute decorations. Our maitre'd was Cesar; he asked if I wanted to be seen during cocktail hour, and when I said no you would have thought he was Secret Service the way he got on his earpiece and had me escorted up a back way to the bridal suite. Then, when we got the pictures from our photo booth, there was Cesar - by himself striking a pose! (well, 4 poses, actually). Phenominal! Oh, and I had 2 bridal attendants who were amazing. We had a slight language barrior, but one kept bringing me glasses of champagne all night and the other brought me every single thing from the cocktail hour while I was up in the bridal suite. Every. Single. Thing. I haven't even mentioned how gorgeous this place is. The only shame is there really isn't a place online (like their website) that has enough pictures to really give you a feel for how major the inside is. Dark wood floors, a beautiful staircase, an old-fashioned horsehoe bar, and the atrium - all to die for. And you are always the only wedding there so you have run of the entire place. The food is phenominal and the price is right - people thought I paid WAY more than I did. Could not have asked for a better night or experience!!!! read more

My husband and two friends and I attended The Red ball for Valentines day . we were surprised by how well It was run from start to finish . unfortunately we never expect much these day ,the quality of everything seems to have gone astray . But not this night . Starting from calling to get tickets . a nice young woman made arrangements, wished us a fun upcoming night and we were set . We arrived and parked uneventfully even after the big snow the lot was plowed well , so we didn't worry of ruining our evening shoes . we checked in and was given a nice table in a good location . we had our first round of cocktails that were made to order at open bar . tenders were pleasant and engaging . we were served mozzarella and tomato a goat cheese salad and a amazing surf and turf with asparagus and potato side . as I said we didn't expect much our experience has been that most events like this are fair at best . we were amazed the lobster was perfect and the steak so tender flavorful and soft and ample . The chocolate mousse with the choc strawberry and whipped crème was to die for !! I wanted to lick the plate ahha !! also as a nice touch there was flowers and boxes of heart candy was for sale and I was lucky to receive one!1 details details that's what made the night . I also haven't forgotten the Band Disco Unlimited takes us back to our youth with fun memories . The new ownership is on the right track . read more
