The Metropolitan Caterers is a beautiful-amazing venue with a wonderful staff. It is very easy to get this location from either the Northern State, Long Island Expressway or Northern Boulevard. I have never been to the restaurant only catered events. We had approximately 80 people downstairs for a Kiwanis event in a nice size room with another attached area for the cocktail hour. We also used that room for the Buffet, and ultimately a group picture at the end of the night. This was an event focused on young students. Our Kiwanis Club's were honoring these students for their outstanding achievement in school. With that in mind, we kept the food simple, so they were Quesadillas, Chicken Franchise, Penne à la vodka, and mixed vegetables. Everyone enjoyed all the food. Chicken was tender and tasty, Penne was cooked well with a tasty Vodka sauce and the Chicken Quesadillas were tasty and cooked well. Apparently they do an outstanding job with whatever they serve. He specially had a divider made as requested for the Nikkah ceremony from gorgeous flowers at the sweetheart table. Execution was a 1000% on point! Every detail was taken care of-- small and big. Raj definitely went out of his way to take care of the bride and her family. He catered to every single request made and absolutely went to larger extents than imagined to make this day special for both the bride and groom as well as their families. His entire team was hardworking, attentive and efficient! Above all, Raj and his wife are absolute gems of individuals with only positive energy and the best interest at heart for whomever books with them. Attended a bar mitzvah over the weekend at the metropolitan. The venue itself was nice and had a few different rooms for party goers to go between. The calamari during the cocktail hour was wonderful. My favorite part of the venue was seeing how they were able to dress it up for the occasion with yellow and purple Lakers themed items. The dinner portion was lacking flavor, but the salad and lemon sorbet they brought out prior was delicious. The salad consisted of arugula, balsamic vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese. For dinner I tried the chicken francaise with cauliflower and rice. My favorite part was the rice. The Metropolitan is such an amazing venue and they just opened up a restaurant! Very clean with beautiful decor and all the staff adhered to covid precautions. The drinks were good & strong and the food was fantastic-- we got the crab cakes and plantain nachos appetizers that were so yummy, shrimp tacos, veggie tacos, chicken breast, and salmon for entrees and the banana split to top it off for dessert. We had a bad experience with our original wedding venue due to COVID-19 and were forced to find another venue 2 weeks before our wedding day. Luckily, we found the Metropolitan who was willing to work with us and accommodate us even with all the chaos of the pandemic. Truly a management team that treats you like family. They did exactly what we had asked for/what they had promised and more. They kept the line of communication clear at all times, took care of all logistics, and often reminded us to enjoy the days leading up to the wedding. On our wedding day, they were there for our full event and made sure our families were taken care of. Seriously, they went above and beyond for us. What I appreciated about this venue was their emphasis on safety and commitment to following state safety guidelines during the pandemic - something many banquet halls were overlooking. Even with state rules changing just days before the wedding, the management team apologized but stayed firm on the new rules for our party. We gladly obliged to avoid any trouble. We had our wedding on 2.2.2019. The Metropolitan was the closest to perfection you can get. I was originally booked with a different venue and chose to cancel due to some management issues. When I met John he was a breath of fresh air. He was so good I thought he was too good to be true but let me tell you, he's the real deal. I loved working with him and everything was so convenient. My guests were raving about the food and abundance of it all night. I've even had comments of it being the best food they've ever had. My maitre'd, Barbara was on it!! She coordinated everything and all of my things that I brought with me to set up beautifully. Maritza was my bridal attendant. She was with me the majority of the time but went missing once in a while when I could've used help but nothing crazy. If you're booked here you're in great hands! This place is a perfect wedding venue. My best friends recently got married here and I was a bridesmaid. After being outside in the hot August heat for photos, it was refreshing to step into the Metropolitan and instantly cool off. There is a bridal suite right above the room where the cocktail hour is held. It has a TV, tables, chairs, and couches. Very comfy. It also houses a balcony so you can watch the cocktail hour unfold. Speaking of cocktail hour, the food was excellent and the drinks were strong. Plenty of food stations ranging from pasta to tostones to jerk chicken (can you tell the bride is Puerto Rican and the groom is Jamaican?). Two bars in the cocktail room, which was helpful. Outside is covered by a tent so you can enjoy the fresh air even in rainy weather. The main ballroom is gorgeous with a huge balcony (they call it the loft). The loft offers windows that remain open during the event so you can see everything unfolding below, also a great place to catch some photos. The dancefloor is on the small side but do-able. The staff is friendly and brought me refills of my beverage no matter where I was. Usually reception food is so-so but here it's actually great. The Mediterranean Chicken hit it out of the park and was filling. Everyone kept talking about how great the food was, which is rare (unless we are referring to cocktail hour). Valet parking, as well as a regular parking lot in the back. Clean and spacious bathrooms (including a private one in the bridal suite). Definitely a great place to host a wedding! read more

We had our wedding at the Metropolitan over Labor Day weekend - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, the whole shebang, for 160 people. From start to finish, John (manager) was spectacular and super responsive to questions and accommodating to requests "Don't worry, we'll take care of you!" was his motto. We were well taken care of, and couldn't have been any happier with our wedding. Some highlights: The Space: This is a one-wedding-per-night venue. For 160 guests, it was very comfortable. There are two ballrooms: (1) the main reception room, with 2 floors, where dinner and dancing take place; and (2) the ceremony/smaller ballroom where we had our photo booth and second bar. The smaller ballroom makes for really spectacular pictures for the ceremony. There is also an outdoor patio area for breaks and smokers. The Food: Our guests raved about the food - the Met really didn't skimp on the quality or quantity. Some cocktail hour shout-outs included the lamb leg (carving station), the mussels, the calamari and tuna bites. The cocktail hour came with buffet stations as well as passed hors d'oeuvres. We appreciated John's honesty in that he didn't try to up-sell us on the any of the menu "add-ons." He worked with us to provide a customized cocktail menu. As for the dinner, we were allowed to pick 3 entrees from a wide selection. One of the entrees, the steak, was actually medium rare (and tasty)! For the bride and groom, we had our pick of any entree choice (including add-ons) for no extra charge. I had the sea bass, which was phenomenal. My husband had the surf and turf - the whole lobster tail was huge and cooked to perfection. The Staff: Barbara, the maitre d', was super helpful. I had no idea what to do at the ceremony and she just gave us marching instructions during the rehearsal, an hour prior the wedding. Because of her, everything was smooth sailing. The bridal attendant was very attentive, running around to get the bridal party coffee, ice water, and platters of food when we were getting ready. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating. At the end of the night, the staff packaged the rest of our wedding cake, our leftover dinners, AND one of each of our 3 entrees that were offered to our guests. That was a very nice touch. The Bar: Our package included 2 open bars, top shelf (the good stuff), all night long. They also passed out champagne prior to the ceremony. They also allowed us to do shots, which many venues do not allow. The bartenders were super friendly. The Value: In searching for a venue in Long Island, we checked out the Swan Club, The Inn at New Hyde Park, Fox/Crest Hollow, and Glen Cove Mansion. They all quoted pp prices that were higher than the Metropolitan for that Saturday night. The Metropolitan beat all of them in terms of value for space, quality and service. This place is hard to find! Each time I drive here the address always brings me to the US Postal office!? THE HECK!? and it's quite hard to tell when it's shared with the police prescient. But the service is amazing, the food is superb, the DJ keeps the crowd popping. Everything runs quite smoothly and it's a very cozy kind of wedding spot. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to book this place. I knock a star down due to. Needing a better address of some sorts or a sign that says "THE METROPOLITAN". I had my wedding at the Metropolitan on May 14, 2016 for about 185 guests. They were incredibly accommodating, the food was excellent, and the staff was superb. Throughout the planning process, John was a pleasure to work with. He was available to help us and answer questions at all times. Barbara was in charge of operations on the day of, and she, too, was wonderful. The Metropolitan provides all the accommodations of a typical wedding venue but it offers an ambiance of a little something more. The setting is more intimate, and the decor is classic. We had our wedding here a week and a half ago (8/11/2018) and it was PERFECT. From the beginning, John, the manager, was a pleasure to work with. He was easy to get in touch with when we had questions and we looked forward to our meetings. We had a lot of fun planning our reception with him (we're all foodies). John and my husband talked for a year about the steak my husband would have for dinner at our wedding and John personally delivered a tomahawk ribeye steak to our dais. I went to a wedding recently At the metropolitan. food was very good . lovely atmosphere. the thing that was a deal breaker was that they don't offer decaffeinated coffee or tea. . this is the only catering hall that does not ( I think on Long Island). There are many people that for purely medical reasons cannot have caffeine. mostly heart related conditions. To be cognizant of your guests I thought that was a given. sorry I will not recommend this venue , this should be told to those looking to create a memorable experience for their special day and their guests. Yesterday I attended a wedding event, it was Spectacular. The cocktail hour had delicious hor'dvours. Such a big variety, to many to mention. The fresh turkey was juicy, the calamari & Alla vodka sauce was done perfectly. A huge cheese, & cold meat station. Chicken dishes. I did not get a chance to sample everything. The dinner menu consisted of, the appetizer was grilled shrimp with greens. You had a choice of salmon, roast pork loin, or sirloin steak. I had the steak. It was cooked to perfection. I could not finish my plate. With delicious, homemade mashed potatoes & broccoli. The house band was so much Fun!! They played songs which were appropriate to the bride & groom. Then they took requests for songs. I felt like I was at a concert. The band was able to play the Rock n Roll songs the crowd wanted. If ever I need a venue for under 100 people, I will book my reservation there. Thank you for an enjoyable experience!! Best time ever. If there is one catering hall on Long Island that is overlooked, it is The Metropolitan in Glen Cove, but it shouldn't be. Everyone should check out this place before choosing your wedding venue. This single-event venue has style, elegance and is reasonably priced. The building has unique architectural characteristics that combine a classic and modern feel, great for on-site ceremonies and photographic moments. The staff, in particular the Director John Casale, was endlessly accommodating from the first tour to the day after the wedding. He had answers and suggestions for every question and concern we had leading up to the big day. The food by far is the best we have eaten at a Long Island affair and our guests cannot stop raving about it! There isn't enough space in this review to talk about how amazing this venue and John are. From the first time we met John, me and my husband loved him and were completely ready to book at this location. The food was absolutely amazing and unique. (No boring beef with steamed vegetable blandness at this place!) We added the short ribs and the chilean sea bass to our menu and it was a huge hit with our guests. Not a single guest had any complaints about the food, and only had compliments! The rooms themselves are gorgeous and interesting, and they make for amazing photographs. (The pictures on the internet do not give this location any justice.) All of the staff were professional and attentive. But what really was the deciding factor for us was John the owner. He is the coolest, kindest man me and my husband had worked with throughout the whole wedding planning. He honestly cared for our happiness, and was watching over the wedding to make sure things ran smoothly and guests were happy. After looking at various venues last summer to have my daughter's sweet 16 (which was on August 18th), I was recommended by my co-worker to go to the Metropolitan and speak to John. From the moment my husband, my daughter and myself sat down with John, we knew this was the place. The place is absolutely gorgeous. John is very attentive, caring, professional and will do anything for you. His staff is amazing. To me customer service is everything and I have to say, they are awesome. John, Melissa and Barbara were excellent. The wait staff is also excellent. The guests couldn't stop talking about the cocktail hour and the food in general. Everyone had a great time. My husband and I got married at the Metropolitan on 10/28/17 and it was the most amazing fairytale wedding. Every vision that I had of what my wedding day would be came to life thanks to John and Barbara! The venue is absolutely beautiful and for the night it felt like home because they were so accommodating to how we wanted every detail! Throughout the wedding planning process, John was such a breath of fresh air to deal with. He responded immediately to all of our (many) texts.. always made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted.. never tried to get extra money out of us in fact worked very well with our budget. The food is out of this world! All of our guests have been raving. My old-school Italian 90 year old uncle said the fish bar at the cocktail hour was the best he's ever seen or eaten. We had around 155 guests and there was plenty of room on the dance floor and around the whole venue. We even sat some upstairs and were worried that they would feel left out but they all LOVED it. We got the best pictures from them up there as well, and they were down on the dance floor all night anyway :) This place is so classy, elegant and romantic.
