The salon is clean, and Tommie was very polite & friendly. But unfortunately within a couple of days I noticed lifting at the edges, and hairs were "catching" while washing my hair. I let the salon know right away and Tommy had me come back in a few days later. I was reassured everything was sealed properly and I was good to go. Two weeks later when I had the dip removed at another salon, severe lifting/separation of my natural nail beds was revealed on all ten nails--one of the worst cases the removing tech said she'd seen from a single dip manicure. My nails will take many months to grow out fully healthy again. I'm mostly sharing this because I'm disappointed and a little heartbroken--and I'd hate for anyone else to go through the same lengthy recovery.

I was there last week and observed a middle-aged male technician 'clean' the manicure tools he'd just used on a client with just soap and water. He took the tools he used on his client over to the sink, washed them as he washed his hands, dried both on the same paper towel, went in the back, got a bag that stated the items had been sanitized, put them in and closed it, and dropped them on the desk. A few minutes later, another technician sat down, opened the 'sanitized' package of instruments, and used them on the next client. Manicure instruments, like surgical instruments, need to be sanitized in an autoclave to kill pathogens such as HIV and hepatitis. The Department of Public Health, which licenses these establishments, sets clear guidelines that this particular technician ignored. I love the work these folks do, and I always come out of here with super cute nails and toes. What I don't want to come out with, though, is a preventable disease!
