The hotel room itself seemed pretty mediocre, since it doesn't have the basic amenities like some of the other Scandic hotels, such as water cooker and mini fridge. Also, the hair dryer wasn't working and there were cracks on the glass cups in the bathroom. I really think these small details make a huge difference. I'm giving it a four because breakfast buffets at Scandic hotels usually never fail. I enjoyed their selection of fish, meat, veggies, fruits, juices, yogurts and warm drinks. Maybe it's the holiday season, so the seating arrangements/decorations were also very "koselig." Overall I had a good experience, and would come back again.

Really classy for being Scandic! If you often stay at Scandic, you will be surprised! Same wooden floor which usually makes the rooms sensitive to noise/sound but we had no problems with that here. We did not hear the neighbors take a shower, which is often the case at other Scandics. Also, being Scandic they use container soap and shampoo which is good for the environment. Bring your own conditioner, you will need it! What i do not like about Scandic is that you never get a bathroom floor towel! This place has a bin in toilet, though. The room has flat screen TV with 20 channels. Firm beds. Ok temp in the room. Safety box but no mini bar. We got a corner room facing street and work site, which at first was a disappointment, but we realized that it is the best side. Rooms facing the market hall and restaurants has to deal with late night activities. it was pretty noisy during the weekend and warm summer nights. The construction site may be ugly, but still quiet at night. Also there are rooms facing opposite hotel wall, which didn't seem to be very nice either. There are a few rooms that has balcony or similar to it and some at bottom floor that has a nice patio. Also at the shared patio there were at least two rooms you could see right into. Try to avoid to get these rooms on bottom floor! But what I like the most, is the location! Forget the hotels in the middle of the city with just a few minutes to the hustle! This one is located in a super cool neighborhood. And in the middle of a new trendy area with bars and restaurants just 30 seconds away! We regret that we didn't have time to explore them more, since we had already made reservations at other places beforehand. It is located just 5 minutes from another super cool neighborhood, Grünerlökka. A lot of hipsters. Those familiar to Stockholm and Gothenburg, can compare to Söder and Andra Långgatan. Breakfast as any Scandic breakfasts. Try not to come the last 30 minutes as it is less to choose from, which I totally respect. But when asked, they did come out with fresh servings! I will definitely stay here every time I come to Oslo (loyalty member)! It has the best location out of them all! For sure! And still only 15 minutes by foot to Karl Johan or whatever. Accepts AMEX.

The cabs in Oslo are very expensive. Really friendly front desk staff! All their good work gets diluted when you have to experience their restaurant staff (except Vivien- who was a sweetheart), restaurant manager and food. if you are a vegetarian, you are screwed. if you are vegan, go somewhere else. I stayed there 6 nights- and looked at the same breakfast buffet and lunch buffet every day. Lunch for 4 days of the conference was exactly the same everyday- no change in menu and not too good (like a Country Buffet with fish). I had dinner one night- ordered gnocchi and Caesar salad- they forgot my salad and then gave the shoulder shrug, and general rudeness for forgetting. oh well! I let the front desk know about this, and the restaurant manager came out swinging aggressively going "hey- do you want to talk?" No apology for their attitude.... I figured it was probably his horrible energy that had let the food be so impacted, and his staff so rude. All Norwegians I met were simply gracious and welcoming. I think they took all the rude people in this country and put them here. Then there was the housekeeping!! 2 nights out of 6, I had to go down to the reception to request them for housekeeping when I returned to my room at 6pm. No one picks up the phone. No floor mats in the bathroom. No room coffee. soaps and shampoos are from wall mounted dispensers.

But the hotel definitely does not deserve a 5 stars. Location: Not bad. It's walkable from the train station. We arrived late at night so no tram was available. The closest tram station is about a 5 minute walk. The location is kind of in a commercial/industrial area where there aren't many shops around. It was not easy to find especially when it's getting dark. The map brought us to the bottom of an overpass and we're like, WTF!? Turns out we had to go up the stairs to get to the overpass and the hotel is located on that street. Service: There is no housekeeping service. Any extra towel costs money. They nickel and dime you so if you stay here for a long time the charges might add up. They were at least quite friendly on the phone. The check out process was not fast. The staff that was there on our check out day didn't seem to know what she's doing with the guests in front of us. It took her a long time before she could check us out. Decor: It's hip and modern! The elevators are tiny but at least they're there! Our double room was big enough for a bed, a desk, a chair, a TV. We didn't have a closet though, just hooks to hang our clothes. The bathroom was clean and modern, but the lack of shower door caused splashes on the floor (and they won't replace your floor towel for free!) Overall, for the price, it wasn't a bad stay. I'm not sure if all hotels in Oslo are like that. It's just really strange how they nickel and dime you for housekeeping like that.

It is walking distance from most tourist locations in Central Oslo and from Central Oslo station. There were a few negatives. We were astonished and very amused by the money-making tactics of this hotel and hence poor customer service. We arrived 15 mins before check-in time and were told that there is a 100 NOK charge to check in 15 mins early! I was speechless! The room itself was ok. The exhaust fan and hand wash dispenser in the bathroom was broken and the latter was a problem in a small space. I asked for a backyard facing room as recommended here to reduce noise. However, I still could hear loud music on the weekend.

The Scandic Homenkollen Park was a decent host with both hits and misses. HITS: The entrance and main lobby to the hotel was beautiful and welcoming. The food served at breakfasts, the included lunches, cocktail party and the farewell dinner were all very very good. The meeting room set up was comfortable and run well. Lots of us commented that the one big culinary surprise was how good the reindeer main dish was at our dinner. I loved the bed in my room with the double separate duvets (I must be in Europe!) - the rest of the room, not so much - see below. Wifi worked well. MISSES: Many of us ended up in very small, dark rooms. Very basic. If there was a room safe, I couldn't find it easily. After I checked in, I had a really hard time finding my room. I asked several housecleaning staff for help, and I was sent down long corridors to no avail. We had lunch one day at the dining area near the main lobby. Service was pretty atrocious and unfriendly. Overall, it served as it was meant to be - a conference hotel.

It was an adequate, clean hotel room, but the price indicated that it was going to have something a…read morelittle special like a view or a great central location, but neither of those things were true. The room had a key card holder for the room key. Properly inserted, you can then use the electrical outlets and light switches. It was a bit of a learning curve knowing this, finding it, and then seating the key by pushing down hard so that it would work. Note to self, you can't leave your electronics plugged in to charge while you are away because you have to take your key card with you to get back inside. The bed was comfortable. There was an extra pillow in the closet. No view. The desk was oddly situated behind the bed, and the bed was in the center of the room. There were two lounge chairs and a small table. We didn't use the TV or the fridge, but both were provided. Upon heading downstairs for breakfast, we noticed the room door didn't lock when we left. It's a habit to always check the handle when leaving. Apparently it does lock, but not right away. You have to wait a full minute by your door to make sure it locks. I wouldn't recommend leaving anything valuable in the room, even when headed to breakfast downstairs. There is even a sign in the elevator that states this too. The bathroom had a tall bathtub that was slightly nerve-wracking to get in and out of. I thought I was going to slip and fall. There wasn't a shower curtain, instead there was a small glass partition that was supposed to keep the water in the tub. It failed miserably. Even directing the shower nozzle towards the inner wall, water splashed all over the floor. Being eco-conscious, the hotel skimped on providing extra towels, and there was no bath mat to step on. This exasperated my worries of slipping and falling again. We were on the 6th floor which was the top floor, so we slept well. Our room was far from the elevator. There was silence the entire time we were there. The curtains didn't block out all of the light. Some light peaked through the top. During the summer of the midnight sun, this can be a bit annoying, but thankfully Oslo gets quite a bit of cloudy days and rain, so the light that entered the room was muted. Breakfast was fine. There was an assortment of hot and cold items, meat and vegetarian options. Everyone will find something to fuel them through the day. Checkout was a bit of an ordeal. The woman had trouble doing this because we had prepaid, but we added some drinks from the concession stand. She did eventually work it out, but she was flustered and needed time to do it. Taxis and Uber were easy to take from the front entrance. There were also tram track out front, so getting one from a nearby stop was easy enough. If you book from a third party like Booking.com, don't bother signing up for the Scandic hotel club. They won't accept your stay as accumulated points. I wouldn't stay here again because the price was quite high considering the mediocre quality.

The place has the ultra modern feel judging just from the lobby ea. Its wide and open with lots of couches to hang out at. The receptionist are often friendly and will help to the best of their abilities. I got one of the ordinary rooms which i was pretty content with. Theres a nice 45" flat screen TV but theres only 20 channels and 90% of it is in Norwegian. Thank god for the discovery channel which is in english. There is also a small gym that has 2 threadmills a set of dumbells and a bowflex machine. Anything would be good when its really cold outside. Cant really complain about this hotel. The free wifi is pretty fast which helps with all the facetime for your love ones. I would recommend this hotel if you are in Norway.

I stayed in a small apartment that was clearly decorated by an expert interior designer. I loved the attention to detail. Also, I was very pleased with the Frogner neighborhood...as it is in a great part of Oslo (near the city center). The reception is very helpful. The restaurant and bar are terrific. I would definitely stay here again.
