That realization was particularly amusing considering some of the operational practices I observed. Let's start with privacy. Patrons are required to scan their driver's licenses upon entry. I became extremely uncomfortable after observing that the device containing that information being accessed in the presence of other patrons and used to look people up. A driver's license contains personally identifying information. Customers should be able to provide identification without random folks viewing PII. Then there is the practice of physically holding customers' credit cards behind the bar. Between collecting an ID containing personal information and retaining a physical payment card containing additional identifying and financial information, I would strongly encourage ownership to examine its privacy and information-handling practices. At minimum, customers deserve to know exactly who can access their information, why, and how it is protected. The sanitation practices I personally observed were jaw dropping also. I watched bartenders go outside to smoke, do a10 second hand wash and then return to handling drinks, garnishes, straws with no covering, and bar equipment. OOF! If you're going to operate a beverage establishment with pickled sausages, eggs and Oof! Basic hand hygiene shouldn't be an aspirational standard. And then there is the husky bartender who gossips and likes to fight. Is the owner not concerned about liability?! Smh... A dive bar can be inexpensive, unpretentious, rough around the edges, and still be professionally operated. "Dive bar" does not have to mean questionable privacy practices, questionable hygiene, interpersonal drama, and employees gossiping about the people paying their bills. Before scrutinizing the clientele, perhaps scrutinize the operation. I won't be returning. There are too many establishments where I can buy a drink without wondering whether my personal information or my personal life is also being passed around the bar. Lowbrow isn't an aesthetic here. It's the operating model

They had about 5 beers to choose from all of which I would never ever drink nor would anyone else in our group which is saying a lot because we all have pretty diverse tastes. All of the beers were like $18, even the garbage beers. I expect that price as we pay $19/beer at the hockey games but the arena offers a great selection. I'll pay $19 for a good beer. I saved lots of money at The Underground since they don't have any beer worth drinking. The bartenders at the bar on the left were not friendly and not interested in answering any questions. We ventured to the bar on the right and a few of us ordered mixed drinks.

There's literally NOWHERE to park in the area for free. Th cheapest lot we found was around the corner and at the end of the street in a gravel lot and it was 12 bucks. Parking right at the venue is 40 bucks. 2. Drink and beer prices inside are way high. A shaker cup cocktail is 20 bucks and it's ALL ice. Refills are 17 bucks!!!! Another thjng I didn't like is that the box office is not attached to the venue and is up the street and they didn't take cash for tickets there. They also don't give you a paper ticket...they digitally text you a receipt and your tix too. Security has a walk through metal detector and they wand folks as well.

What authorities did he had? That's an insult to a female. Should this place hire a female guard for female as well? Someone is wrong with those guys. Been to many nightclubs in Charlotte, this is the worst I've come across so far. Been in upper management in law enforcement all my life, here I then find one who doesn't need to bring his head but his power to work.

This little bar has brought in a fabulous cast of DJs, even a non edm person like myself might recognize. Even more amazing is the setting in which these people perform - right next to the crowd. I was so excited personally to to watch Darude play a set only a couple feet from my face but also to snag a picture with him after, which is a common occurrence at Serj (many DJs stay after for a few pictures). They are also an outstanding venue that attacts a diverse and accepting crowd. For Charlotte this is truly a gem.
