i'm new to the Charlotte area and I googled upscale lounges to visit my first experience here I…read morequickly realize it is not a upscale establishment from sitting at the bar and watching someone bust down a cigar fill it with weed and smoke a blunt in the club, which I have nothing against anybody, who smoke however I don't expect this at a upscale establishment had I known this I would've wore something like jeans and a T-shirt however I dress up because I thought it was an upscale establishment. I am very popular back in my hometown maybe not for all good reasons. I come off as a whistleblower but one thing you will never call me as a liar and this last time I went to this establishment the DJ tried to throw shots at me as I'm walking through, which didn't really bother me as much because I don't even know who he is which I feel like it's kind of lame and childish and he's probably broke so I get it if I intimidated him in anyway I don't apologize about that however it's more than just about money cause that just says a lot about his character not mine so if you are a out of town and you're looking for a nice dining lounge experience, this is not the place to go. This is more for local if I had to guess I would say drug users so if you're not into that lifestyle, I don't recommend it. and although the food was good, I will never return back because of the disrespect from the DJ, which was unnecessary and very childish to say the least. hope this helps someone looking for a nice established lounge to visit. This is not it.

Definitely would not recommend attending a show here. Getting through security was more adventurous…read morethan getting through TSA at the airport. We saw them take a Sharpie from someone. The guy even explained that he wanted to meet the band after and have them sign his poster. Too bad. They sent various other people back to their cars for other minor things too. It did not make sense or make us feel any safer. It just made going to a show feel like a chore. Once we were inside we all wanted to grab a beer. This is definitely not the place to do that! They had about 5 beers to choose from all of which I would never ever drink nor would anyone else in our group which is saying a lot because we all have pretty diverse tastes. All of the beers were like $18, even the garbage beers. I expect that price as we pay $19/beer at the hockey games but the arena offers a great selection. I'll pay $19 for a good beer. I saved lots of money at The Underground since they don't have any beer worth drinking. The bartenders at the bar on the left were not friendly and not interested in answering any questions. We ventured to the bar on the right and a few of us ordered mixed drinks.

I didn't even see a handicapped seating area. Lighting is decent and one major positive was they had the a.c. cranked up high on the July evening we were there, when it was like 95 degrees outside. 2 major drawbacks...1. There's literally NOWHERE to park in the area for free. Th cheapest lot we found was around the corner and at the end of the street in a gravel lot and it was 12 bucks. Parking right at the venue is 40 bucks. 2. Drink and beer prices inside are way high. A shaker cup cocktail is 20 bucks and it's ALL ice. Refills are 17 bucks!!!! Another thjng I didn't like is that the box office is not attached to the venue and is up the street and they didn't take cash for tickets there. They also don't give you a paper ticket...they digitally text you a receipt and your tix too. Security has a walk through metal detector and they wand folks as well.

Unless you arrive early before the music starts, the parking is terrible there and sometimes I feel unsafe to walk through those alleys in the dark alone. However the guard to the place has given me the worst impression without respect or common sense a few times that discouraging me to go there again. When I asked my friends if they experienced that, a few even said they had never been asked to show ID to go into the place. Perhaps we are Asian female and look strange. At one time, my friend came from other state and left her driver license in the car at my home. She showed that she had a copy of ID, We are all beyond 50's, the security said she had to have the real driver license. Come on give us a break? We had to drive home to get it. Last night, I went there myself, not only this guard examined my driver's license to see if that's real, check my bag and even asked me to open my jacket that was just an pullover. What authorities did he had? That's an insult to a female. Should this place hire a female guard for female as well? Someone is wrong with those guys. Been to many nightclubs in Charlotte, this is the worst I've come across so far. Been in upper management in law enforcement all my life, here I then find one who doesn't need to bring his head but his power to work.

Absolutely absurd pricing on drinks and I was threatened to get bounced if I refused the drink?!? I offered an alternative and he said no... Miss this spot entirely, rude staff and overpriced drinks!!!! I'm from Denver too, higher rent, higher median income, cheaper bars than this spot. Rabbit Hole? more like Shithole

DJ plays a great variety from reggaeton, bachata, merengue, salsa etc. They have a coat check that starts at 11pm for $5. They have two floors. One smaller one closer to the entrance and then the big man one towards the center of the floor. They have VIP seating around the club and even stairs that lead up to a VIP section. They have an outside patio but was closed due to it being cold but you are still allowed to go outside and sit at your own discretion. Such a nostalgic place for me. It is more of a younger crowd here just an FYI.

This club is an absolute DISASTER, and management/security is a total joke. I've been here 20+…read moretimes, and I've never seen it this bad. While we were there, a guy was harassing my female friend for about 5 minutes with no security anywhere. A random male had to step in just to stop it, and then the two guys started fighting. Security didn't do a single thing -- WE HAD TO TRACK THEM DOWN OURSELVES, and when we finally found one, she was just standing by the bathroom doing NOTHING. The short female security with a white stud was extremely rude, clearly didn't know the policies, and took my vape even though I'm 22, not even letting me take it to my car -- something that's never happened to me before. Meanwhile, right after, I saw a dude hitting his and another group smoking a blunt inside the club. They pick and choose who they enforce rules on -- personally, I've gotten free shots from the bartenders while other people get punished. Speaking of shots, they're overpriced and barely poured the correct amount of liquor. On top of that, there's tons of underage drinking, with underage girls getting into the club with zero issue, and I even heard rumors about human trafficking connected to this place -- completely insane. I used to be a regular and loved this place, but after this level of negligence, favoritism, and outright danger, I will never go back. Management needs to get their shit together immediately, because this place is unsafe, poorly run, and a total joke.

I only speak for myself and not others. It was my first time and perhaps the last time to visit…read morethis place. My friends and I were looking for some salsa dancing place, it was our first time. We had a paper wristband from the early restaurant that we could re-enter. When we entered this El Cen night club, I was told to remove that wristband because it didn't belong to them. I said that's my property. The security woman was rude, sticking her hand into searching my shoe bag. (She was very unprofessional) She stared at me with wide eyes and fierce looking. As I respected my friends who didn't want to argue with them, I said ÖK, I could remove that. She asked me to give her. That irritated me. These type of security staff had abused their power to infringe my personal rights. I said that was my property and she had no right to take it. I kept it with me. After we paid $10 each to gain entry, a lady came to me and asked if there was a problem. I had no problem but they might have a problem. I told her I was there to enjoy my time. I didn't need that attitude to destroy my good time. (Today, they had female security officer to search female customers, male to male customers now. I believed it started a few years ago at the other nightclub with latin music in Charlotte, a male security guard search me into my coat and I strongly complaint about that was totally inappropriate.) It was FIFA game time Argentine v Switzerland. I did enjoy football game but our purpose was to latin music for salsa dancing. There were two ballroom dancing floors, one big and one small. A few bars for drinks. Full of security staff. I felt I had entered a place with mafia. Nevermind, I knew how to handle problems if there was. After a little while, the DJ in the small ballroom played some bachata music that we dance bachata, then there were more merengue, after midnight, there were mostly music for reggaeton. There was not even one music for salsa. If you are looking for salsa dancing music, this is not the place. If you just want to look for real professional salsa/bachata/tango/chachacha social, this is not the place. Go to those social party organised by salsa latin dancing studio such as Rumbao Latin Dance, RW or Afincao for their monthly social. If you are just looking for a super loud noise to numb your nerves and get drinks, sure it is right for you. You can't even talk with each other. The music stopped at 2 am. Everyone would leave. One last thing, that $10 cover charge is for standing only, if you want a seat, there were tables $70 & $90 each. There are a few food trunks outside at the parking lot.
