We were in Fairport and I had been wanting to visit Chase Farms after seeing it featured on the local news and especially with all the rain we've had lately. You can either pick your own strawberries or buy some that are already picked, which is what we did. They also sell their own jams, local pickles, and other goodies. We couldn't resist trying the strawberry shortcake, and oh my, a true taste of summer on the Summer Solstice! The biscuits are homemade right there on the farm (yes, I bought some to take home), and everything was absolutely scrumptious. Just a heads up, if you're paying by credit card, there's a $15 minimum. And if you're going to pick your own, bring cash or a check. Honestly being cash...unless you are coming to buy pre picked flats of fruit.. They also grow blueberries, raspberries, sweet cherries, and peaches when in season, so we'll definitely be back! It's about a 30-minute drive from Rochester, through beautiful farmland and lovely homes. I even heard the bells of a nearby church it added the perfect touch to the whole experience. Beautiful strawberry fields The smell permeates the air as you travel down to the field on the farm wagon. They also have snap peas available for picking as well. Their ice cream sundae selection looks like a delicacy Farm fresh canned items as well including raspberry sauce and honey were available at their farm stand. My women's group and myself had a blast enjoying camaraderie, ice cream, and sundae picking during Rochester's heat wave recently. The strawberry shortcake is amazing, highly recommend! It's made with their own strawberries. We came to pick strawberries and while it was fun, we were given a very small area to pick in. I understand they wanted to know what had been picked so far, but I prefer picking places where I can choose where to go and don't have others right on top of me. They have some friendly goats that you can pet and feed, which my 4 year old loved. I would definitely come back for the strawberry shortcake and the goats, but would probably pass on strawberry picking here next time. read more

Chase Farms is a cute farm that offers an array of different local produce. They have pick your own berries depending on the time of summer, which is always a fun filled family experience. They also have a farm stand if you do not want to pick your own. My favorite is their shortcake. In June and the beginning of July they have the best fresh strawberry shortcake! They also make peach and raspberry shortcake as well. Last fall we were pumpkin hunting. We went to a couple local farms and the price seemed extremely high. We ending up deciding to go to Chase before just giving up and going to Wegmans. Their price for pumpkins were amazing! So much better than 2 other farms we stopped at prior. This is our new place to go for local pumpkins in the fall. They always have a bunch of different types of pumpkins. If you are looking for a place that has games and things for the kids to do, this definitely is not it. Sometimes they do have a goat or two out that you can feed/pet. This by far has been the best experience at a new place. We are west side dwellers and our berries farms weren't available yet. So we ventured here. The staff are so friendly in explaining protocols. First, always bring cash to a u pick place.. it's usually the golden rule to farms. you are literally in a field so they usually don't take cards. Here they do take card but you have to spend a certain amount. Easier to do for some people vs others. Second bring your own container or they provide containers at a small fee. I prefer to bring my own since it's sturdy enough and it's just better for the environment. If you purchase their containers they are easily reusable for next time. The wagon ride to the farm was fun for my son and it saved us walking that distance. They have the system down pat. they have workers in the field instructing you to the row to pick. They have a flag system in place so you know where people stopped. I love this system because you will satisfied with the quick pick vs having to go row to row like some other places. We went during the week in the morning and it wasn't busy at all. Very good experience. Employees are super nice. The berries are huge and delicious. Worth the drive. read more

They have a little stand where you can buy already picked fruits & vegetables & some other goodies. There looks like there is also a window to get ice cream but it is not always open the same time. For picking berries there is a wagon to take you to the field or a short walk. The guy who was driving the wagon was super nice. If you don't bring your own containers you can get the near where you pick berries. The rows are easily marked on which ones are available for picking. Be aware there is no shade so bring water & wear a hat. The price for picking your own is kind of high. I have seen other you picks for way more of a reasonable price. We ferreted it Chase Farms on a Fall countryside ride to get our Halloween and Fall gourds, assume edible squash, too. We got there near closing but still had a chance to check out their offerings and buy it needs and then some. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Things were organized well. Picked up and taken to a patch, given a box they you can fill (it's all done by weight for strawberries) and you just start picking what looks good to you! We even stopped over to do raspberry picking as well, that's done per pint, but you can fit a lot of berries in a pint. Prices seemed fair and staff was friendly. Someone said strawberries were ready for picking so I headed to Chase Farms. I wasn't picking but they make the best fresh strawberry shortcake with ice cream ever! Many others had the same idea too! They are picking on the morning and stop at noon (I think) and start up again for early evening. Their berries are nice too. Usually they have boxes already picked to buy but they didn't tonight. Love love love Chase Farms! Went for the first strawberry picking week of the season and it nothing short of exceptional. The strawberries were plump, ripe, and plentiful! I was a bit nervous for the berries considering the excessive amount of rain we've had this week, but they survived and were still juicy and flavorful! I arrived at about 10:15am on a Saturday morning and there was a decent crowd. There was lines for everything, but the entire experience moved quickly. The fields are walkable, but they had a tractor that bring you to the correct area if you don't want to walk. Fun for kids and adults to ride! Once you get to the fields, they assign you a place and pick to your hearts content! The row they gave my boyfriend and I had the perfect amount of strawberries for us. Ended up picking about 6 lbs. At $2.35/lb, we spent about $15 for the berries and the carton (costs $1 if you don't return it). They have a delicious sundae and dessert bar, with fantastic strawberry shortcake. Get it with ice cream and enjoy enjoy in the shade. Best was to cool down after picking berries all afternoon! If you want to make your own strawberry shortcakes, they sell their biscuits as well! The farm stand also has prepicked strawberry sold by the quart, random veggies, and jams (they had garlic scrapes today - Yum!). They have a small pen with 3 goats, but I don't think you can pet or feed them. Still cool for kids to see! Having grown up less than 2 miles away Chase's has been something of a tradition every summer. Today I wanted to get 2 quarts to take to my 84 yo mom. When I arrived I was dismayed to see a looping line of at least 50 people. Being newly on crutches there was no way I could stand in line. When I called to ask if they could possibly bring them to my car there was no hesitation. In fact she finished my sentence for me by asking where was I parked and the color of my car! On top of that they ran out of berries temporarily while I was wriitng this review which means had I stood in line I would have missed out. Nice farm to pick berries. However they don't accept card unless you make a purchase of at least 15 dollars or more. Which is completely understandable but there isn't a single sign that says so. Another man behind me in line also wasn't aware of this. Got up to the counter where you pay for berries, owner got quite defensive/rude when I asked if I could use a card. Also stood in line for exactly 23 minutes for a milkshake with no luck, ended up just leaving. read more

Chase Farms Market is one of the best places for berry picking in the Rochester area. Although there are no extra attractions such as a petting zoo, etc, the quality of the berries are excellent and if you're there to pick your own fruit, Chase Farms will deliver a satisfying experience. There is also a small stand that offers a delicious shortcake and sundae bar, but this can get really crowded on the weekends so get there early or late! You can buy pre-picked fruits and vegetables at the farm stand, or this farm really shines if you pick your own. Chase farm offers clean rows of berries to pick from because they place hay between the rows, which means that during rainy seasons there is less mud than at other area farms, and you're not confronted with moldy berries which has been my experience at other berry farms. This is one of my must-visit farms for stawberry picking in the early summer, and raspberry picking at the end of the season. read more

I averaged the stars to three because they do sell good corn. Pick your own strawberries are very good as are the pick your own raspberries. I recommend that you ONLY purchase them if you pick them yourself. Peaches are hit and miss on quality but the flavor is usually good. My one suggestion to Chase Farm would be for the older women who work at the stand up front. Every time I go during berry season they are constantly shuffling berries around between the containers whether they be 1/2 pecks or quarts. Less handling would be very beneficial!! The strawberries I purchased today are the end of what I will purchase unless I pick them myself. I paid $20 for a 1/2 peck today. By the time I got home which is a 5 to 10 minute drive there was not one strawberry in the entire 1/2 peck that was not in some state of decay. I realize this is the end of the season for strawberries but for $20 I expected to have some halfway decent berries. Absolutely nothing wrong with the ones that I picked myself today. So unless I'm picking myself I will drive right on by to another farm for strawberries. read more
