This was my very first time at this location and I must admit that I REALLY enjoyed every bite of the meal. I ordered a platter with the steamed scallop, with shrimp. That platter also came with potatoes, corn, and broccoli. The butter sauce was sitting at the bottom of the platter and was scrumptious. I also ordered a cluster of crab legs. That butter sauce at the bottom of those was EVEN BETTER than the previous platter. I would buy that stuff on its own. I was very happy with my purchase and will definitely be back. read more

Open for take out during quarantine. Huge portions and the seafood does not disappoint. The fried flounder pieces are HUGE and lightly breaded. Butterfly shrimp was also very good. None of the food felt too greasy when you're eating. Service is fast and workers are nice. Plenty of parking so easy place to grab lunch. read more

Cha's Seafood sits in on Pennington Avenue, Trenton, NJ, in a small "L" shaped shopping plaza where an old factory used to be. It is very clean inside, with a large selection of breaded fillets and semi prepared shellfish, crabs and king crab legs in various sauces for purchase by the pound or in platters to take out. The space is large enough for a few tables, but that is not their business model. I stopped in for lunch this week around 1:30 pm, and I was just about the only customer there. I ordered a whiting lunch (3 fillets, fries, 2 slices of whole wheat, small cup of macaroni salad and a bottle of water for about $7.50, including tax. The price was definitely right. The fish was sliced thin and breaded in corn meal before bathing in the deep fryer. I could only eat two of the fillets made into a sandwich, and left most of the fries behind. They were okay, but far to many to eat in a balanced meal. Strangely, they did not offer any mayo, tarter sauce, nor even ketchup with the take away lunch. Any of those would have added to the flavor of the fish and taters, which was sort of plain as it was. Next time, I will be sure to ask for those accessories. Overall, just a decent, but unexciting monochromatic lunch. Those pre-seasoned crabs and other shellfish did look pretty good. Octavia did a good job taking care of me. I found Cha's Seafood Restaurant when I couldn't find the Crab Shack. The place was super busy. I ordered the 3-Dungeness Crabs and an order of fried large shrimp. This is not an eat in establishment. Carry out only. They were very nice and treated me with respect. They brought my food to my vehicle because I was not upto coming inside the place. The crab meal came with 2-corn on the cobs, potatoes and broccoli. My food was hot and well seasoned. I loved everything about it. The vegetables were seasoned perfectly. The crab was juicy. I wasn't crazy about the fried shrimp. It was average. But the crab meal was superb. I couldn't eat all of it, so I made 2-meals out of 1. I enjoyed this restaurant. I will visit it again the next time I am in Princeton NJ. read more

The service was great! There was a woman who managed my order magnificently and my dumbass didn't get her name... She made sure we were clear in what we wanted and helped ensure my order was clear. Go the food home (spent $120) and everyone was pleased. Crab legs were clean, sweet, and steamed perfectly. Shrimp was perfect too. Excellent place to get some fried fish. The place isn't easy to find since very few people would be looking in this part of town for a take-out-place. Located in a little Mall in probably the worst part of Trenton, this place is clean inside and out. The Menu is displayed over the counters on Flat Screen TV's and you can choose from three different under the counter fridges. They cook your food on the go if you choose or you can walk over to the already made hot bar with some lovely crabs and mussels. I ordered a seafood platter from here with king crab, shrimp, mussels, corn and potatoes. The total came out to about $35.00. I felt like it was a bit overpriced, but the platter was big enough for both my husband and I to eat and get full. The seafood and corn was delicious! I love the seasoning that they use. This place is definitely a bang for your buck spot. The shrimp isn't cooked fresh it's ore cooked and just steamed for flavor. They have pre-seasoned crabs and mussels. I've ordered from here twice and even though I don't live in the area, (I visit often) every time I'm in the area I want to stop by for seafood! BEWARE: the wait can be very long if you don't get there at the right tome. Fortunately it hasn't been for me but I've seen some disgruntled customers. I've had shrimp crabs and mussels from this location, a I wouldn't order the mussels again but the shrimp and crabs were seasoned w a garlic butter mixture that I've never had w seafood that is unique to this place. I ordered the anniversary special flounder fish..fries and soda for 4.99$ but I was looking around at the fresh seafood and saw dozen of precooked seasoned crabs for 35$.....yes one dozen (12) crabs for 35$. Unbelievable... So I asked the worker who then asked the owner to come to speak to me she said yes 35$ for a dozen. I said they are extremely... Extremely overpriced. We stopped here a few times for uncooked lobster, and king crab, so I can't comment on the cooked seafood. It does look good though. The place is clean and and the prices reasonable. I noticed a comment about being over priced because they are overcharging people in the "hood" and wouldn't charge people in the "suburbs" these prices. They recently opened a store in Columbus Farmers Market where they charge the exact same prices. So it doesn't matter if your in the hood, or farm country, they are charging the same. Service has gone down terribly in the past year. The owners are rude and not at all welcoming to their customers. The seafood is way too overpriced for the quality that they produce. Their blue crabs are small with very little to no meat inside. I asked for a side of butter to go with them and the owner says they already put butter on it as if the butter could actually reach the inside of the blue crab. Not only that, but instead of providing you with a cup of butter to go with the platters you have to pay extra for it as well as paying extra for them to steam it. Seriously?! Lastly, a friend of mine decided to purchase steamed shrimp which she had to go home and FINISH cooking herself because they undercooked it. My advice ? Take the drive to Burlington and go to Blue Claw or just take your business to Seaworld seafood on prospect street if you want to stay local. At least they don't charge extra to steam your food and give you a standard seafood condiment (butter) and they actually serve QUALITY. read more
