Dealing with Charter Radiology over the past two months has been a nightmare. I do want to shoutout KJ from the billing department and the front desk ladies at the Columbia location. One of the front desk workers (a male whose name I'm not sure of) called me on the way to one of my appointments and told me I owed Charter about $800 more than what I had already paid as a copay, which I paid the previous day, January 30th. I wouldn't be able to get my procedure done without paying. I'm aware of my insurance coverage and told him that I thought this was incorrect. He began to talk over me. I needed the MRI done, so I paid the money when I arrived and asked for an itemized receipt. He told me he couldn't give me one and that everything would show up on my patient portal. It did not. When I followed up with my insurance company, they shared that Charter Radiology incorrectly billed them for my MRI services and did not provide information on how much the actual services were on the claim. I knew I overpaid Charter Radiology and contacted them to resolve the issue. They resubmitted my claim and still held over $800 of my money. KJ in the billing department was really helpful in moving this issue forward but this morning I saw that the pending transaction from Charter Radiology to my credit card was cancelled on their end and they still owe me $821.81. I tried to be patient and resolve this issue privately, but customers need to know that this company is dishonest, has a staff member who bills incorrectly at the Columbia location, promises a refund and then rescinds it. This issue has been ongoing from January 31st. It is now March 20th. When will my $821.81 be returned to me? read more

-Horrible customer service -Horrible wait times -Unprofessional owner -Attempts to overcharge -Delayed imaging reports -Does not answer phones I had a 3:30 appointment, where I was specifically told to be there by 3:15, so I could be in the machine at 3:30. I was not even called back to get dressed for my imaging until 4:05pm, and then they were rushing me, as though the situation were my fault. Also, upon arrival for this appointment, the receptionist tried to tell me that I had to pay a $100 deductible, and when I informed them that that is far from correct, as my insurance has no copays or deductibles, they told me that they'd look into it, but I was not allowed to go back for my imaging until it was either paid or fixed. The receptionist then tried to tell me again, a few moments later, that I did, in fact, have a $100 deductible. I had to continue to ask them to make sure they ran my insurance properly, because I knew I didn't have to pay anything. The two receptionists told me to sit down, and said they would look further into it, and would let me know what they found. So, after about 15 minutes, I pulled up my insurance coverage website, and brought it to the receptionists, to which one of them snapped at me "we already handled it," it in a very rude tone. Mind you, I was never given any updates, and was under the impression that I couldn't even get my imaging until this was solved, so I was only trying to help. I was never once rude or aggressive, but that receptionist was very rude to me, after trying to charge me money I didn't even owe. After all of this, they told me my images and report would be available within 72 hours, but they actually weren't available until a full week later. Also, don't bother trying to call the office or texting the number on their website, as they don't ever answer anyway. The imaging technicians are very sweet, but everything else about this office is a joke. It's been impossible to get an appointment! I've been trying for over 2 weeks to get an appointment and I have yet to be able to get a live person. Unfortunately because of a recent surgery, I'm unable to drive, or I would've gone in to make the appointment in person. At this point I'll ask my doctor to send my orders to another imaging center. read more

I HATE being referred to Charter Radiology. They never pick up the phone when you call. You have to leave a voice mail at ALL times. When/If they call you back they ask you to take a picture of your referral and send it to them, and then you have to call again, leave another voice message for them to call you back and tell you they didn't receive it. Then they don't want to reach out to the doctor, they expect you to do all the foot work. I always have to go in person to resolve things. I simply HATE it. I prefer Advanced Radiology. read more

A toxic staff and manager! Unprofessional personnel rude prejudice and bigoted attitude & aggressive behaviors. Biased staff in procedures and policies, even when offered presentations of evidentiary support with their staff members in compromising situations, management continued success side with employees. All in all if wanting a facility that will add stressors to your health concerns, inconsistent implementations of the rendition of the procedures and protocols, giving a dose of entitlement and erroneous racial charged attitudes then this facility (Columbia) is for you. As the lack of customer/patient care, employees/technicians' inexperienced knowledge and capabilities are not simply evident, prevalent and widespread, the support of the management in their conduct, lack of empathy, care and respect are worn boldly by each individual, with the exception of one young Black Woman who was kind, courteous and professional. Nevertheless enter and proceed (Columbia) at your own risk with security lurking and staring and stalking a handicapped person like myself. I wish I could give no stars. The owner "Daisy" is an absolute NIGHTMARE and a disgrace especially towards a 6 year olds care. I had to contact them multiple times to even get the process started when my daughters specialist literally spoke with "Daisy" at the time of my daughters appointment and "Daisy" herself told my daughters specialist her staff would be reaching out. This never happened. I didn't even have the chance to schedule the appointment because their staff is so unorganized and incompetent in their job it's despicable. They messed up the prior authorization for my daughter's left hip MRI with perfusion. They never called me when the authorization was denied, my insurance notified me via email. I then checked my insurance app to see if it would tell which it didn't so I called my insurance and they told me documentation was not submitted. I called the Columbia office to have them rectify the issue but I was met with voicemails and representatives who knew nothing about it. I would call my insurance week after week and they would tell me it wasn't fixed and then they were closing the case but an appeal could be submitted with the documentation within 30 days to overturn the denial. I called them multiple times and was met with the same response. THEN I received TWO text messages in June telling me to schedule my daughter's appointment. So I call multiple times again which then the representatives tell me I can't do anything without the authorization. I finally started asking for a manager or a supervisor to which they told me "they're not on site" or "they're busy but they can call you back". I never received anything from anyone. I had been going through this since May of this year and it was July by this point. Then I receive ONE PHONE CALL FROM THEM. I tried to call back but again, nothing. I ended up reaching out to my daughter's specialist which was no help because they were doing the same thing as Charter Radiology was doing. I sent her specialist multiple emails, messages, phone calls and even wrote a complaint. Still nothing from either of them. I finally wrote a review on Charter Radiology's google account and WOW. How disgusting was the owner "Daisy". She would go back and forth with me on google about how they called me multiple times. They called me ONCE. Then they sent me texts about scheduling my daughter's appointment, that was twice. And again, never received responses, not even from a supervisor or manager and yet the owner "Daisy" had time to go back and forth with me on google but couldn't pick up a phone, message me or correct the issue at hand? All she cared about was her image. And I'll upload the call history and text messages plus what she ended up saying to me which she later changed when I told her how unprofessional her response was. This owner "Daisy" and just Charter Radiology is absolutely one of the WORST healthcare facilities I have ever came across in my life besides my daughter's specialist. I would HIGHLY suggest going elsewhere and staying far away from this place especially if you need urgent care. They are just down right neglectful. Their hours are flexible, they are kind, and they return your results quickly. Once I received an doctor's order for an X Ray from and skipped right over to Charter to make an appointment. I searched for "Open MRI" and Charter showed up at the top of the list. The staff were nice and I was able to get an appointment quickly for an MRI. I arrived and was prepped and walked into the room and it was not an Open MRI. Even to examine the hip they put the entire body in the tube within inches of the the tube. I would not call myself claustrophobic, but this type of MRI causes that feeling for me. They suggested getting a new RX for an MRI while sedated. I don't like the extra risk for sedation when there are actual Open MRI systems nearby. read more

Charter radiology I have never had an experience That made me want to be anywhere but for my scans. Not only is the staff helpful but they're also kind and make you feel right at home my favorite part besides the MRI machine that helps me feel no nausea or claustrophobia are the mirrors in the dressing rooms so you can make sure you don't look like you just took a 30 minute nap that you did. I want to give a special review for Bill the MRI tech. He made me feel so comfortable and even cracked a few jokes with me. The girls at the front desk were so hospitable and so nice!! Staff makes or breaks an establishment and the Charter staff along with Dr. Uppal take the cake with the best radiology services I have ever experienced. read more

The problems started with the initial call. The call center was unable to answer basic questions about CT angiograms. I then asked to speak to a technician, who also could not answer the questions. I eventually located a tech, Delaney, who was well-versed in CTAs, so I made an appointment. Unfortunately, although I had confirmed the receipt by Charter of the physician's order for the test prior to the date of the appointment, when I got there Charter had lost it: so I had wasted half a day and had to reschedule the appointment. However, while I was there the tech who was to conduct the CTA arrived late for my appointment. He immediately ushered me to a room to take my blood pressure: he took the reading OVER two long-sleeved winter tee-shirts. At that moment, I was glad that Charter did not have the order because I had no confidence in the tech and did not want him administering the radiation. I then sought out Delaney, rescheduled the test, and had a great experience. She was extraordinarily competent and very much concerned about my welfare throughout the procedure. In short, if you need a CTA, it would be in your best interest to contact Delaney. read more

I was scheduled for an MRI at 12:30. They called me the morning of and asked if they could reschedule it to 2:30. They said to arrive 15 minutes early. I arrived 10 minutes early and filled out some forms. 2:30 came and went. Someone came out at 3:00 and told me it would be another 15 minutes. Pretty unprofessional to ask someone to arrive early and then be kept waiting for an hour! They must have known they were running late. They couldn't call me again? read more

Came here for an abdominal xray on nye, and I called to check their hours and maybe get an appointment. They do walk-ins for what I needed, and the guy I spoke to on the phone was very respectful and friendly. I went in and both guys at the desk were again super respectful and quietly working. I had a question about paperwork and although both were on the phone at the time, as soon as one of them got off (not the one who had initially helped me with the paperwork), he asked me what I needed. It's rare (unfortunately) to find this sort of customer service. The technician that performed my xray was also extremely informative and respectful. Explained everything to me (and with a smile on his face). Also he needed to touch me, and told me before doing so #5stars. I was in and out of the xray room in 5 mins. I probably spent a total of 30 mins in the center (i.e walking in, paper work, changing, xray, changing, and walking out). Never going to them again. They messed up on my husband's date of birth and the entire report was invalid. This is when my husband asked the receptionist three times to make sure that it was correct. Then we called them trying to get the corrected report and their response was that their system was down. This is after I called them three times. The first time they had me on hold for ten minutes, the second time they put me on hold again, the third time I straight up told them I was going to come in in-person and see them. I still don't have the corrected report and I will never go to them again. Instead of just telling me the first time what the issue was they made me wait and had me call back thrice. That's preposterous and unacceptable and while you guys have always been very helpful with me in assisting me over to the table in the last five years, I got pushed back from your manager or somebody at your front desk today in Columbia, I didn't appreciate it and you just lost a customer and you're going to get some very bad ratings on yelp, the Better Business Bureau, and of Howard County medical Society. you guys really piss me off today. If you look at my record, you guys have scheduled me or allowed me to schedule and provide assistance to me and I missed appointments. Although the front desk staff treated us with the utmost respect and professionalism, I cannot say the same about the MRI tech and even the CEO that contacted me after my inquiry. Poor customer service. Rude MRI Tech. And an even more rude "CEO". I sent an inquiry to be contacted due to the unprofessional service my minor daughter received for her FIRST MRI. Very respectful and wanted to let the company know my concerns. The MRI tech was very rude to the assistant that walked myself and my daughter to the dressing room. He was very short with me when asking him about masks and earbuds for my very nervous daughter. This was the response from the CEO. Sent at 5:52 pm "I am deeply sorry to hear your remarks. Nasir has been a technologist for 30 years and is an outstanding technologist . You need to value his expertise . Sometimes shop talk should not be heard by patients . I've been here twice and have found that the staff is friendly and seem knowledgeable. The friendly part is most important as you are going in for testing and are nervous. I had some issues during the MRI and the guy was nice and let me sit for a minute and never once seem to be a hurry or upset that I made him wait. They also gave me copies of my results the same day. I am Orthopedic Surgeons nightmare or blessing. Between my knees and ankles, I have practically put my surgeons children through college. At least, that's the ongoing joke in my house. Charter Radiology is the ABSOLUTE BEST place to get MRIs performed. I have been to many imaging centers, and I can say that Charters same day appointment, and same day report reading (usually), is definitely something I can get behind. This is the best radiology clinic I have ever been too. I have a multitude of health issues so I have done 3 MRI's here in the span of 6 months. The staff is wonderful and they are always quick. Gabriel at the front is so professional and always makes the process so much more enjoyable. In addition the MRI tech Brent was so friendly - I really liked him. Overall I am really happy I found charter radiology, the staff is very friendly and it is clean and a relaxing atmosphere. When I first made my appointment they were able to pre-authorize my insurance before my tests so I would know exactly how much I was expected to pay which was a huge relief. (Not all diagnostic companies do this). The first time I came in I was really really nervous about the MRI machine so I had my husband come home early from work, and had my pcp provide me with anxiolytics. The tech was approachable and let me leave my clothes on (no metal- I'd recommend leggings cotton underwear, sports bra, t shirt and swear with no buttons or zippers or long sleeve t shirt) leave all rings and other jewelry at home (side note I have a triple helix piercing in my ear and had to take it out and just go back to the tattoo shop later to put it back in). The unfortunate part was I needed to have two tests done and only one of them was scheduled for some reason. So I had to come back again on Sunday this time by myself and with a different tech who had me change into scrubs. She was professional but not as nice and I was absolutely freezing. The only thing I don't love is that every appointment I've had, I've received a call asking me to come in either earlier or later. This gets pretty confusing and for my last one I was a few minutes late and made to feel badly about it. I would have preferred to come at my original time and waited longer. So, I'd highly recommend this place- especially weekend evenings, the tech and receptionist on this shift work very well together. Make sure you have absolutely no metal on you and leave valuables at home. Also bring any referrals you have from your doctor and ask the receptionists to make you a personal copy of your images in case you need a second opinion. read more

I was referred here by my physician. I usually go to another radiology center in the area. Nonstat mri was at 11:30 on Thursday and by 10 am on Monday results had not been finalized by radiologist to get to my physician. Radiology center I usually go to normally has results back before this, even for nonstat tests. read more
