This was my time of the year for my annual mammogram. This location was able to accommodate my schedule in between work. The staff was kind and my mammogram went smoothly. There was a mixed up with my provider order however, the staff was able to call and get it straight very quickly so it really didn't affect my appointment time much at all. Great experience. I had a thyroid ultrasound. My appointment was scheduled for 1pm. I arrived at 12:45 and was immediately checked in. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. I only sat for about 5 minutes before I was called back before 1pm. My ultrasound technician was so nice and my procedure was super quick. This was a great experience! read more

I'm baffled as to why they feel they need to book so many close appointments why still taking walk-ins! I was scheduled for a mammogram on a Thursday at 11am, I wasn't seen until nearly 12pm. I was taken back to change my clothing, only to have to wait another 15-20 mins in a small changing room. Once I was actually in the exam room, everything moved swiftly. The nurse was very friendly and explained everything to be thoroughly, as this was my first mammogram. She also apologized sincerely for the wait. My experience would have been much better without the long wait. read more

Wow. The WORST first impression ever. Unfriendly faces, unfriendly voice tones, condescending attitudes. All this at the check in and payment counter before I even stepped into the back. Yikes. I've had numerous procedures and tests done here over the years. The staff here have always been so helpful and kind, and the facility is always clean. I've only had a few billing issues in the past, and nothing in the last few years. I remember it was handled very quickly and efficiently. My go to for ultrasounds, MRIs, and other scans! read more

Egregious amount of time to wait for results. Radiologist can t do it because they are counting their 400k salary?

Don't use American Radiology for any reason. They have a terrible terrible company that does their billing. It doesn't matter that you aren't allowed to pay the bill in full when you are at your appointment. And so they bill you. You have no choice but to have to deal with their billing. This horrible billing company will send your bill out to a collection agency after one paper bill! Doesn't matter about postal issues, doesn't matter if you got your bill at the end of January. I paid immediately. They said they got my payment in the 9th. And yet I then had the misfortune of speaking to Heather McRae who is a supervisor. She will treat you like you are less then a person if this happens. She treats you like you are a deadbeat criminal if you call. I paid my bill in full after getting the first paper bill. Heather said that an email bill is sent first. Then if you don't pay they send a paper bill. Then they send it to a collection agency. My total payment after Medicare was under $27. Yet with having this done mid November, then having holidays and a sick mother to deal with-I was waiting for a paper bill to pay. I got one the third week of January. Heather McRae treated me like I hadn't paid my bill when I talked to her. First thing she said when she looked up the account was it hadn't been paid. She questioned me like I was less then a person and made me feel like having Medicare was a dirty word. She then informed me that because I signed the paperwork at the hospital that it gave her company the ok to send email bills. It doesn't matter that no one else sends email bills as your first bill. All that mattered is that Heather McRae was right and that I was an awful human for not reading the small print on the hospital paperwork. That it was my fault for giving my email address. That it's normal procedure to send all 2nd paper bills from a collection agency. Regardless of the fact that things cross in the mail, regardless of anything-using American Radiology will mean you will get a collection agency bill even if you paid in full after your first paper bill. You will get one just because American Radioligy uses a billing company that has zero respect for Medicare patients or senior's either or anyone who may be looking for the bill in the mail to pay. I thought Medicare might have covered the full bill when I didn't get a bill in December. Or even maybe the billing was delayed because of Medicare. Regardless I can say all the following because there are reasons people don't use or read emails, so a first bill will likely get missed. Also, please know that I was treated this way over less then $27 bill. What do you think she would have said to me if my bill had been higher? I did report Heather McRae to her supervisor. Just know to get her name and a way to contact her, I had to respectfully ask Heather 4 times. I had to ask 4 times for Heather's last name. She didn't want to give that either. Hmmm... All Heather McRae wanted to do was make sure she could bully me any way possible. Even the collection agency who told me immediately that my bill was a zero balance was nicer and respectful. Heather said my bill wasn't paid right away. Of course I don't think she figured I would have called the collection people first. I honestly don't get this. But I do know that I will not give hospitals my email address anymore. I will not go to any doctor that says I have to use American Radiology because of their billing practices. You shouldn't either. Stand up for being a person. Pay your bills and hopefully you won't have a sick mother or Thanksgiving and Christmas get in your way to miss the email. Don't let billing companies treat Medicare people horribly for no other reason then they feel superior. read more

I had to get an x-ray done and my doctor gave me a form so I could get it done here. At first glance, the location where it is located isn't the best since it's right next to an exit on the highway. I called them a few times beforehand to make sure there wasn't anything I needed to do before I got my x-ray and they were always so nice through the phone. The service there was fast and smooth. There were no issues regarding how the sign in went. Everyone there was kind and I even overheard someone complimenting someone else's nails. When I was about to get my x-ray, a worker asked if I had metal on my body and unfortunately there was metal on my pants due to the zipper. She offered me two options to get the x-ray in and let me choose the option that was most comfortable for me. The people that were doing the x-ray did it very quick and assured me that everything was going smoothly. read more

Making appointment was easy and was able to set it up quickly. Front desk was helpful and explained paperwork clearly. Did not have to wait long until I was called back for test. The tech was friendly and helped me feel comfortable for test and understand what would happen. Doctor came in after test to discuss reading and advise on next steps. read more

Friendly staff and clean . Lots of chairs. They get full often. X-rays are usually walk-ins. You can schedule for mammogram, CT, and MRI. They appointment office can call the facility locations to see how long the wait time is, so that helps a lot. They have water coolers, face masks, hand sanitizer, and attentive people at each station. This is my go to place, even though I live in the next city. It is consistent and you even get a special access code to look at your results. You can leave with X-ray films or CD's too if you need them, it's just a short wait time for those. read more

Had the pleasure of having my annual mammogram conducted at the Columbia location of Advanced Radiology. I had planned my appointments months in advance and then the day of I was running late. I never run late. I called the office to advise that I was running late for my check-in but should be there in time for my actual appointment. The reception staff was above and beyond courteous and efficient. When I walked in, the receptionist knew exactly who I was and check in was expeditious and timely. I did not even have a chance to sit down before Diamonique called me back to show me to my changing room and locker. I'm not sure I can remember the last time I had this level of customer service, tbh. And it did not stop there. Once I had changed, Tehila ensured I had changed and was ready to be taken to the exam room. I know I'm using the wrong phrase there. Every woman knows that mammograms are not for the faint of heart. I am also sure everyone woman has asked herself: why aren't men's annual exams this painful? Regardless, Tehila was courteous, thorough and professional. The small talk about regular old life while be smooshed was top tier. We know we need to do this for preventative health. We know it's uncomfortable and vulnerable. Tehila, Diamonique and the rest of the staff at the Columbia office made me look forward to scheduling my annual mammo next August. I can promise you that I have never said this before in my life. LOL. I will admit that this appointment made my day. I went around the corner and went to Chick-Fil-A and it took all of my willpower to not* tell the lovely woman at the drive thru to get her mammogram at Advanced Radiology! Brava, ladies. From scheduling the appointment to the front desk experience everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating. However my 10min experience with the lady who administered my CT scan for my 8am appt today was awful. She was cold dismissive and rude. The circumstances around having to have such a test ran can be stressful enough the last thing someone should have to experience is a condescending technician who acts like they don't want to be at work when they just got there. I recommend she takes sensitivity training. read more

Run for your life !!!!!!!! Don't trust this place, the front desk employees dont care about your health. They have no clue of what is going on all they care about is their vacationing and what they did for the weekend. They definitely don't have patience for the patients. Never ever going there ever again. By the way to schedule an appointment to come and visit it will take and hour from the time you call until you make your appointment, and then when you do make an appointment they don't tell you you need another referral for the 1st referral until you bring in your mom who can barely walk who just had a knee replacement tell you that you can't be seen today. read more

Whew so glad I realized that I used to go to American Radiology vs Advanced. American Radiology is far better for mammos. The women that take care of you are sensitive and they treat you with dignity in an uncomfortable situation. No one likes mammos,but these techs are very caring and gentle. On February 10th, I had a breast MRI done at Advanced Radiology. I had had several breast MRIs performed when they were American Radiology. They were always very well read. I neglected to bring my 3D mammogram report and images with me. Bay Radiology faxed them the report from August, 2022, but had to mail the images. They told me that they would hold the films until I delivered the images which arrived on Wednesday, February 15th, and I delivered them that day. In the meantime, I received a report from them and the films were compared to my mammograms from 2019 to 2021. I have called them several times asking that the report be amended and compared to the 3D mammogram done in August, 2022. I just received another copy of the same report, and they were not compared to the images I had delivered. I have called my internist and gynecologist and asked them to disregard the report they sent. My Mom died from breast cancer, my younger sister has had a mastectomy, and my brother died 4 years ago from small intestine cancer. No matter how many times I have called, they have asked me to call back. They did confirm that they are in possession of the new films, but to date no amended report has been done. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Advanced Radiology for my next MRI. I am posting this review so that no one else has this experience. They are definitely not American Radiology. read more

Front desk staff was rude right from the start. It's hard to hear/understand with a mask on and when I didn't understand the directions for which pen (clean vs dirty... yet no one is wiping the door handle that everyone is using ) to use she looked at me like I was incompetent and then made the comment "says it right there". Meanwhile I'm asking if my husband can come in because I have to take medication to get into the MRI because I'm claustrophobic. This staff member who seems to rove and not man a check in station was indifferent to my concerns when I explained,"you'll be fine, take a seat." I was then told to take my medication at that time which was an hour and 15 minutes from my appointment time. I responded that I'd take it as prescribed by my doctor.... 30 minutes before the procedure. As I sat and waited for my appointment I observed 3 people that had someone accompanying them. One was understandable ... a young person that looked to be middle school age. The other 2 adults didn't seem to need an adult accompanying them. Needless to say the medication made me drowsy as it's supposed to and I was nervous about sitting there under the influence. Once I got back to the MRI itself it was fine. The front desk staff needs sensitivity training; understanding that many times these appointments are necessary for an already stressful medical issue. Being rude and indifferent makes it worse. read more

Scheduled an appointment for mammogram for Sat. 12/10. I'm getting undressed for the procedure and the technician calls me into the room and explained that she could not do my exam although my doctor sent over the orders. She used a technical term "birad 3" and said that a radiologist needed to do the exam. I explained to her that I was unfamiliar with that term and her response was "oh well there's no radiologist here on Saturdays anyway". Extremely rude and uninformed! read more

Being a military spouse, I've been to many different locations for my mammograms. A few years ago after we retired here, I went to a place recommended to me, and it was horribly painful and had to be repeated and was even worse the second time. Thankfully, the next mammogram I needed, I found American radiology in Prince Frederick and got the best technician! Over time, I've been blessed to repeatedly get the same technician, Jennifer W.! She's fast, friendly, efficient, proficient, gentle, personable, but yet professional. I feel very comfortable having her perform my mammograms and don't want to ever have to go to anyone else especially after having some painful experiences at the other places! read more

Don't ​ trust this place. I had one x-ray that was required to eat a sandwich that was provided by this facility . It was explained with my health insurance that I would be due $300 up front before the procedure which I paid . Afterwards I got a separate bill for an additional $200 for the sandwich that was required to have the procedure . They're billing department explained that the X-ray and the sandwich was filed as two separate claims although both were required to perform the exam . It was never explained prior to the procedure and after talking to the billing department I later received the letter that says the problem has been resolved and they will contact me if there is further billing do. I now have a letter from the collections department . read more

Be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour even with an appointment for a CAT scan. After the scan wait another 15 minutes. Staff is friendly and skilled. I have been here so many times, each time is different. If you need a mammogram then they usually take you on time. The front desk staff are very polite and efficient. I would recommend the Columbia office as long as you have 2 hours of time to wait. read more

Pros: super friendly technician. They have snazzy technology where they can text u appt time & images from your screening. Cons: front desk staff were not pleasant or happy. Also other reviewers are right. They take FOREVER. it's really pretty insulting considering we all have jobs, responsibilities, etc.. They need to get this fixed. Everyone was furious in the waiting room when I went. I think it's a simple time management issue. They saw me 1 hr after my appt time! Unacceptable. Unless they resolve this, I will try to find another facility. read more

The technicians need major training on how to talk with younger children. My 7 yr old daughter got a brain MRI yesterday and they just strapped her into the seat, put a device over her face and stuck earplugs into her ears... without giving her any assurance or comforting words or explaining what they were going to do. She started getting scared and saying the machine looked creepy and didn't want to continue. Thank goodness for my husband who came in and reassured her enough to get the procedure done (something the techs should have done in the beginning). The front desk lady was super friendly, but it was otherwise a very unpleasant experience! read more

Had to have some CT scans done with contrast, so expected to be here for about 2.5 hours. They got me out in 30 minutes! Tech was very nice and extremely efficient. What was anticipated to be an unpleasant start to my day ended up being a pleasant surprise. read more

I've only ever had a mammogram once before, mostly because it was a miserable experience. It's an uncomfortable process at the best of times, and the technician didn't even try to be gentle. But I've reached an age of increasingly high risk, so it was time to suck it up & deal. My PCP referred me to American Radiology, and I'm oh so glad they did. Among their lesser good points are: ~ Convenient location near MD 100 ~ Excellent signage to parking ~ Separate, well-marked entrance ~ Efficient check-in ~ Cloth gowns (not the crappy paper kind that rip when you look at them) My favorite feature was their changing cubicles with lockers. The other time I had to juggle my stuff while holding the gown shut. Most importantly, the technician was considerate & tried to minimize the discomfort. I have an unusually high level of sensitivity, so that takes some doing. The only con is that cancer exists & we have to have these screenings at all. read more

Unprofessional & deceitful, that sums up my full experience with this location in Columbia, MD. American Radiology/Advanced Radiology/RadNet is a conglomerate company. To gain an appointment, you first must submit insurance informative and have it verified days before they will even give you an appointment date. In my case due to a car accident I submitted two types of insurance, auto and health as a back up. After waiting over a week to get verified and receive my appointment date, I then called billing to ask how much my insurance would be billed for a cervical MRI. I was told $450. I called the next day AGAIN to ask the same question because I wanted to know for certain. ...I was told the same answer. So fast forward a month later and I see that they billed my insurance over $1400.00!!!!! When I called and spoke to the billing director he lied and claimed I was given the cash price! But.... wait. ..I could have paid cash under the table and saved myself $1000.00.....REALLY? !? I then called their Baltimore president Dr. Stuart Rabinowitz who stood by this lie, which to me days the company had no problem with a fraudulent practice and lying to patients. Made me wait over an hour in the parking lot and were rude when I called to ask what the problem was. I do not recommend this facility.

The facility is fine and I didn't have any issues with the techs who completed my back and neck x-rays. However, their billing department leaves a lot to be desired. I paid almost $190 at my visit at the end of December since that's what they estimated my responsibility would be. Before the claims were processed by my insurance, they sent me a bill for $42 which I paid because I assumed they knew what they were doing. Turns out my responsibility was only $120. It's been over a month trying to sort out a refund. I've called their billing department at least 5 times; every time their system is down or they need to get more information and call me back, which they never do. Next time I need imaging done I'll find a provider that has a more organized billing department. read more

This is now Advanced Radiology who recently bought out American Radiology and Advanced Radiology is owned by a large radiology corporation in California. I will never use this company again. I was diagnosed with cancer and needed several MRI's and also one MRI for my orthopedist. Called the Columbia location as they had a 3T MRI. Scheduling group scheduled me for all three in one appointment (this was on a Monday w/appt scheduled for following week). They told me I could not eat anything after midnight, do a saline enema two hours before. I read their website and enema not indicated and only to not eat and drink minimal water FOUR hours before. Friday evening (after 5:15 pm, I received a call from this group saying I needed to have blood work done and to them before these MRI's. My doctor's office was closed and was unable to reach until late Monday morning. Needless to say this appointment had to be changed. Before I was able to change received another calling saying all three MRI's could not be done in one appointment. I rescheduled at a location closer to my home. Two MRI's on a Tuesday and the third on a Wednesday. I questioned if this would be a problem and the scheduler said as long as the third MRI was not done on the same day, it was okay. This Monday I received a call trying to change me back to the original location. In between rescheduling these MRI's and this past Monday I received several calls; all were confusing and very, very obvious scheduling department does not have a clue as to the requirements of the procedures and what is going on in general. I also received a call yesterday (Monday) telling me I had to have at least 48 hours between MRI's and that the MRI scheduled for Wednesday had to be changed. I've changed it and am now having it done with no fuss/no muss at Union Memorial Hospital Radiology, where my physician is located. I will avoid Advanced/American Radiology at all costs. Obviously must pay their scheduling employees very cheaply and provide no training or information. read more

I'm baffled by this place's bad reviews. I needed an X-ray and a CT scan: I arrived 25 minutes early for my 10 am appointment, they took me 20 minutes early, and I was on my way with my X-rays in my hand by 10:05. All staff was polite, all facilities were clean. And they offered me a SAME DAY appointment when I called. I literally can't complain about a single part of the experience. read more

I really don't like coming here. As others have said, the front desk personnel are rude and don't care. I came for a CT scan. The confirmation that was sent to me said that there was no prep. When I made the appointment, no prep was mentioned. When I got there I was asked if I had drank the solution 2 hours before. I said I wasn't told I needed to. The appointment was rescheduled for later that day. I heard her say to someone behind the desk, very rudely, "she didn't drink the barium", as if it were my fault. I came back for my appointment and signed in. I was waiting and people that came in after me were getting called up to the desk. I went up and asked and was told that I was already checked in from the earlier visit. Why wasn't I told this? It was the same person and she was rude again. Unfortunately I didn't get her name. If at all possible, I will be going to the other radiology center near me. read more
