Dr. Cifello is the best! I saw him one day for the first consultation. He was going to schedule surgery for a couple of weeks down the road. The next day I had a complication and called him and he told me to go to the ER to get admitted. Two days later he did emergent surgery on my complicated case and I woke up very happy to find I did not have a colostomy bag! He did this procedure just before he was going on vacation. My PCP recommended this doctor to me due to some issues I was having. It was so bad that I ended up in the ER at Baltimore Washington Medical Center, which they didn't do anything for me except give me pain pills and waste my time. Then while at work the plan was so bad again, I ended up getting an emergency appointment with a doctor in DC near my job who gave me two different meds within two weeks (both didn't work). When I went into Dr. Cifello office, he performed an exam and said I needed to have surgery. My out patient procedure was scheduled about two weeks later. I found Dr. Cifello through my insurance web site. I did some internet research and found he came highly reviewed by previous patients. During my appointment, the doctor was knowledgeable, thorough, and took as much time with me as I needed in order to understand my options. I had been a bit hesitant to see a surgeon about my issue, thinking the odds are he's going to recommend surgery, because that's what they do. But Dr. Cifello actually said in my case he would not recommend surgery at this point. Possibly in the future, if the symptoms get worse. My story in brief. I had no symptoms but went for a colonoscopy at age 51 because family members were pestering me about it. So I was shocked when they found a "mass" that turned out to be stage 3 colon cancer. Dr. Cifello removed almost 11" of my colon using a surgical robot at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He cut 7 holes in me, most of them not much bigger than an inch, but one was almost 5" long. I went home the next day and I never needed anything stronger than Tylenol for the pain. I was referred to Dr. Cifello for internal and external hemorrhoids that had affected my quality of life and I was so fearful of the surgery but got to a point where I knew it had to be done. I was so blessed to find Dr. Cifello. Not only can you tell he is an expert, he also is very kind and honest and you can tell he wants the best for his patients.
