Walked over from my hotel for dinner. This place offered about five Mexican beers on draft so I had a large. When I was seated, they brought me a basket of tortilla chips with three salsas. One was too spicy for me, one was regular spicy, and the third was a nice savory bean salsa with onion and bacon. That was my favorite. I had the burrito Mexicano that came with rice and beans. Me and my bf just ate dinner so we were trying to find a place for dessert near our hotel. We saw cheesecake burrito on the menu so we had to try it . We ordered flan , fried ice cream and the burrito. The flan was prob my favorite because my favorite dessert is creme brulee so it had a nice soft custard and I loved the caramel. It almost tasted like they flambéed it in Grand Marnier. We really loved the cheesecake burrito, they didn't skimp out on the cheesecake and the burrito itself was crunchy but easy to bite and it wasn't sweet at all. My family has ate here several times. Restaurant is always very clean and pleasant. Tons of chips and different kinds of salsa & beans before ordering. Staff is always very nice and attentive. One time we visited there was an elderly man eating alone. His waitress sat down and let him share his story with her. He was able to also hear my babies carry on behind him. You could tell that he appreciated the company. As a CNA and mother of two that went a long way with us. My favorite taco's are the Monterrey Tacos. The plate always comes with rice, cucumber, radishes, and tomatillo sauce. I love chorizo and their tomatillo sauce is my favorite!. They really are the best. Their rice has corn, carrots, and peas lightly in it. It is so much better and adds flavor. We've also had the grilled chicken and carne asada tacos. Would order them again as well. The queso fundido, handmade guacamole, nachos as appetizers - all amazing! The verde sauce is hot if you add it on enchiladas instead. Not for kids unless they like hot stuff. You can't see the chicken and the sauce looks congealed. It didn't in person!) A simple chicken breast with mushrooms, mozzarella and peppers. Supposed to be covered in sauce. (No! So worth the drive to concord from Winston! Heard so much about their amazing Mexican pizzas, which are not on the menu, an inside thing! So me and my party of 15 had a family night here. Most of us ordered the pizzas along with a few other things. Their chips and salsa comes as most Mexican places do standard, but their sauces are beyond any I've ever had. They bring spicy ones, more Smokey ones, and a mild one. We had about 4 different ones just for the chips. Their guacamole was also top level, nice and chunky , fresh and spicy. Service was great, and they accommodated all our palates. We were a needy group! The kiddos had the bean burritos with rice. Their enchilada sauce here is key, always ask for extra! So good. The Mexican pizzas were stacked full of veggies, cheese, and black beans, sauce and two tortillas. We all pretty much ate half and took the rest home. The sauce was so good and spicy . The steak tacos, also loaded with more meat than I usually see. The grilled chicken, with rice, and beans. Also really well presented and very tasty. Veggie enchiladas, again, as I keep saying! He pointed it out to your female server, her reply, " it's inside the chimichanga". Chimichanga was just chicken served inside of soft tortilla with white cheese all over it. Just wow! First timers here and we loved it! Everything was super fresh! The fajitas came out sizzling hot on the plate. The avocado was so fresh and my choripollo was an easy 10! There was nothing to dislike about it! The lettuce and tomato garnishes were perfectly ripe. (Yes, I notice small details like that.) The service was also very good. We loved that the chips were not over salted like at other places and the variety of sauces were good. If I could give a 0 star, charros would've gotten it but the margarita flights were great. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, and rice beans and unfortunately only got 1 out of 2 orders for that. We waited 1.5 hours just to get the flights and 1 taco. Everybody around us was getting their meals within 15 minutes of ordering. We only ate the rice and beans the tacos that came out wasn't worth our time as we requested corn tortillas and received flour tortillas. I have been riding past this restaurant snd wanting to visit it forever. I finally decided to treat myself & a friend. Charros is located off of Interstate 85 and exit 60. It sits on yhe left hand sode of the road. The parking lot is shared with a brewery. I immediately selected the patio area because it is amazing with great views. My friend and I met for dinner at Sabaidee's, only to find out they're closed on Mondays. So I suggested getting Mexican, since Charros always seems to be packed. I don't regret it, but I wouldn't go back. The enchiladas were drowning in a soupy sauce and the pulled chicken had a nice flavor but the onions and green pepper mixed in had been stewed maybe 1-2 hours too long. The refried beans had little seasoning, but the rice was okay. My friend ordered the Hawaiian tacos, and she said they were overly seasoned (not spicy, just over seasoned). The service was also pretty lackluster, but in the years since Covid became a fact of life, I'm not as concerned about good service. When our food was delivered, I asked the server for salt and extra napkins and my friend asked for sour cream, and she returned within a minute or two with everything, so that more than made up for the lack of service. All in all, accepting that a good 90% of South Eastern Mexican is mediocre, this fell on the very mediocre side. They have a fairly large menu, and with just one visit I couldn't possibly judge their entire menu, but whether my meal was representative or a rare misstep, I won't be coming back here again. read more

The food is not good and definitely wasn't fresh. After few hours after eating here, I became very ill. I had the garlic shrimp dish. The garlic definitely came from a grocery store jar and the shrimp did not taste fresh at all. My stomach felt weird after tasting the shrimp. I will never return. read more
