We've ate here for so long. I remember when the restaurant was across the street before the road was built. I have so many memories from sitting around the table here with friends while sharing chips and salsa. The staff is always accommodating and nice. They have wait staff that have been with them over a decade. You can come in last minute and feel welcome. Any order on the phone to go and they make up the food like you are eating in house. House dip, horchata, table guacamole, Street tacos, shrimp tacos, chicken enchiladas, chimichangas, fajitas, quesadillas - are just some of our favs. They have daily specials and taco Tuesdays. I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent Mexican restaurant at the Carolina Mall. Prices are reasonable, service is very good, friendly, and helpful when ordering. I ordered the Carne Asada with flour tortillas. The only issue was I didn't expect catus to be served on the dish. I nibbled on this, but I prefer lime over catus to season the skirt steak. Our server quickly brought over 3 lime slices for me that did the trick. Overall, a good stop for food here at the mall. read more

Amazing food and margaritas! Located in Carolina mall across from extreme play. Don't let me the "mall" fool you, it's a sit down restaurant with a bar and service. Everything is really good but the ACP and fajitas are always my go-to! My son loves the rice, it's the only thing he'll eat. What a great vibe for a mall restaurant. The prices are fabulous, the service is outstanding. It's clean, well appointed and it's quicker than a drive through. It is for those reasons why I am sad that the food let us down. On a hot July afternoon my sister and I stopped in for a quick bite and we were pleasantly served, but when our food arrived it wasn't visually appealing and it didn't taste great either. From the soupy salsa through the bland taste of the tomatoey shredded chicken. There is no way to describe it but disappointing. My Chalupa was soggy, I thought it was supposed to be crunchy. My sisters Tostada was also wet and drenched in refried bean goop. The lettuce was an odd "greige" color, and the veggies just weren't very fresh.... I wonder if I am spoiled by fake Mexican food (Thanks Taco Bell) and I really may not recognize authentic Mexican fare when it is served. It's 3.5 stars because the majority of this food will not be eaten. I would [possibly] go back, but I would order something completely different. I would ask more questions about my selection, and not assume that my understanding of Mexican food applies to what is being served here. Having said that, I really want to end on a high note here. Great freshly-made guacamole. The al pastor Street Tacos are tasty, with lots of limes and some hot Verde sauce if you like.

These people suck at running a business. Went in and three was barely anyone there yet the people in front of me had been standing for a while just to be seated. The place was borderline empty so not sure why it takes you so long to seat people when no one is there. Then everyone working just looked pissed off to have to deal with people and when someone was trying to get passed a worker they didn't even move or say excuse me even though the person said nicely excuse me. Visited here this past weekend with my mom. Our server & the staff were kind and attentive. I got the chicken enchiladas with cheese sauce, with rice & beans.. it was delicious - so much flavor! I loved my food & my margarita. The prices are great! Not expensive like I would've thought. variety on the menu : build your own type things. They have a cute robot that goes around the restaurant ; plays music & brings out the food with a staff member.. it is literally the cutest thing. I kept looking for it when I would hear the music. Great location right inside Carolina Mall. Service was great. Very fast for moderately crowded night. Food is fantastic!!! I highly recommend the supreme nachos! They are enough on their own. Street tacos are great don't skip splashing with lime it marries the flavors. Rice is great too and their sweet tea excellent! The only thing weird was we had a waitress but a very loud music playing robot brought food to the table and then she would take it off the robot and put on our table. She was an older lady so I'm not sure if that's the reason or this is just how their doing it now. read more

Waitress after dropping off my order to the table, disappeared, until she brings the bill. What about another beer?? Do i need anything? Super yummy food ! I ordered beef enchiladas with cheese sauce. The service wasn't the best. Drinks were left unattended while eating my meal. We also had to ask the host for straws. after the server took our order she practically disappeared. Asked for the checks ( I was with one other person ) as soon as the server dropped the check onto my table she rudely asked if I was ready to pay instantly. But then again, the only Mexican food that I had before eating here was at Chi-Chi's in Jersey... I know, it shouldn't even be in the same category..... This place is so good that I had taken friends from Concord and Charlotte here, and also turned my relatives from Alabama on to this place... First of all, the food is delicious.... The servings are huge... And the margaritas are some of the best that I've had to date... First off, customer service is out of this world! Our table of 8 was assigned to a room meant for group parties, but we asked to be relocated since the room felt cramped. Once moved to a different table in the main eating area, we had two different waitresses. Lily ordered our drinks and another waitress ordered our food. I ordered the Hawaiian Quesadilla with a side of a rice and beans. Who would've thought that pineapples would be delicious in a quesadilla? The food was delicious and I enjoyed every bit of it. Be sure to order their table side guac, it's made fresh. As the sun started to go down, one side of our table became blinded by the sun. When our table tried to figure out what to do, our waitress and other nearby staff said they would figure something out. One of the staff named Jose went to the outside of the window with a black plastic bag and covered up the window as much as possible. Our table clapped for his clever thinking and we enjoyed the rest of our dinner. I can't say enough about the customer service that night. It was greatly appreciated. read more

We've been eating at this place for years and I always​ forget to review it so here goes. We haven't been here in a little over a year, since they moved across the street. I was a bit worried because sometimes when restaurants move buildings the food somehow is never quite the same but that isn't the case at El Vallarta. We went for lunch and found many delicious specials. Most under $8. I decided on Pollo Fundido and my wife had The Vanessa Special which is chicken enchiladas. My food was delicious as always they have the best rice in town! My wife cleaned her plate so I'm gonna say she enjoyed her dish as well. The restaurant has a good atmosphere. Full bar and a few TV's if you don't wanna miss a game. Everyone on staff is really polite and helpful if you've never been there before. Not quite as authentic as some other places I have been to but it's still really good Mexican food! Give it a try you won't regret it! They also offer brunch on Staurday and Sunday afternoons. What a disappointment. Wanted some Mexican food decided on this disappointment but never again!!!!! The server was clearly overwhelmed and wouldn't even let our party finish ordering without her cutting us off. My daughter ordered pork tacos, but she brought steak ,maybe because she didn't write our order down. I ordered a bean burrito and wanted melted cheese on top she suggested quest so I went with her suggestion, well this burrito was a disappointment it was literally refried beans and a tortilla, no rice no onions nada a baby scoop of refried beans and a tortilla. When my bill came this pitiful burrito was 8$ so I asked for the manager to make sure I was billed correctly. The manager was as pitiful as my burrito!!! Rude and could care less. As stated in a recent review, this is the best Mexican restaurant in the Concord area. They have really fresh items that I don't normally order in Mexican restaurants (i.e. shrimp for tacos/fajitas, steak, fish, chicken soup). We generally sit at the bar for their refreshing cocktails and other beverages. They have, hands down, the best tequila selection of almost any restaurant in the Charlotte Metro area. I have heard about this place quite a few times and unless you are in the Concord/Kannapolis area, I wouldn't necessarily rec commend El Vallarta. It just so happened that I was in the Concord area last night so a few of us decided to try this mexican place. I wasn't overly impressed but I wasn't completely disappointed...hence the 3 star rating. What I liked: The decor was vibrant and festive..just like a Mexican place should be. The staff seemed to speak slim to no english, which made for an authentic experience. The margaritas were perfectly blended and delicious. The portions were large and in charge. I ordered a veggie burrito and it was pretty tasty. It looked like a huge whale slapped on my plate but it was good. The veggies were pretty fresh and no one flavor dominated the rest of the burrito. Overall, it was good. I also like the fact that with the complimentary salsa they offer a cheese and bean dip. It is literally beans stirred in a white queso...it was very tasty. The salsa was the kind served out of a caraf...it was pretty good as well. What I didn't like: The tableside guacamole wasn't very good. I mean, how can you mess up fresh guacamole? Well, for starters you could add way too many jalapenos and that is exactly what they did. It was like a jalapeno dip...it was just not very good..I don't know how else to say it. I know that can change depending on who makes it but this was just not done well. My friend wasn't crazy about his tacos...the shells were a little stale and he didn't feel there was enough meat and lettuce on the taco. The rice was pretty good but the beans were just okay. I would like to give this another try and order a few other things. I think there is good potential. My six children and I (ages 2-15) decided to have lunch here today an it was an absolutely awful experience. One of the waitresses went up to my 15 year old daughter and told her that they are seating us in the way back room because they don't want us to "disturb the other guests.". There were only 3 other people in the restaurant. Another large family walks in and they are seated right in the main area. Our waitress was very rude to my children and I, and the food was terrible. Is this a gourmet mexican restaurant? No. Is it some of the best mexican food I've ever eaten? No. Is it a good, cheap place to go eat lunch? Yes. My office is located about 2 miles from El Vallarta. My co-workers and I take a trip for lunch once or twice a month. The service is ok. They give you chips and salsa, as well as a queso and bean dip. Although the food isn't anything to write home about, it is fairly cheap. They have great lunch time specials. I usually get the fajitas, which is $5.95 (I think)...and they are actually pretty good. So, like another reviewer posted, I probably wouldn't recommend someone to make a trip to Concord simply to dine here, but I would suggest it for a lunch-time visit if you are in the area. read more

I have eaten here about 20 times. They seat you fast. The chips and salsa are good. The second basket is always better....why is that? LOL. The service is always quick and the food is affordably priced. My wife always gets a frozen Margarita and says that it is very good. All the food is good. I'd certainly recommend El Vallarta if you want a good meal and then you can walk it off at the Carolina Mall that is attached.
