Crosby grew up a little when Charming Cafe came to town. The Sushi is great (even if it is a little expensive), and the service is has always been awesome. Sushi really is the highlight of the menu, and it is always made fresh to order, right behind the counter. read more

I generally like to try and give a place a couple tries before I write up a review so that I have a good feel for the "business as usual" or "what you can expect" point of view. My girlfriend and I have visited twice as patrons and I have ordered takeout once from Charming Cafe and I have to admit, I am pleased with their service and food. Yeah, there are a couple things that could be improved on but overall, It's a little place that I am happy we found and plan to stop in for dinner on a more regular basis. To begin with, despite it being plainly visible from the highway (FM 2100 that is), it is easily missed among all the other businesses and shops located in the area. In fact, when I first suggested the place I got some very weird looks from people who have lived in the area for a very long time. They were not even aware that there was a place to get Sushi from in Crosby. Hey - It was worth a try anyway. I'm glad we did. Honestly, the Sushi is comparable or better than many other Chinese restaurants where you can also get Sushi. The 2 cuisines are not often found together but here ate Charming Cafe, they do make strange bedfellows. This leads me to the areas that could be improved on, at least from my perspective. Maybe it's me but why is it in Texas that the only difference between Sweet and Sour chicken and General Tao's Chicken is the sauce? It seems like instead of trying to make it to order, these places are content to make a lot of pre-made deep fried chicken balls (sorry - that's what they look and taste like) and then dump some sauce on it and call it different. IT'S NOT! I've been to Japanese and Chinese restaurants all over the country and for that matter, in Asia too (stationed in Japan and the Philippines while in the USAF) and until I got to Texas, I never saw it treated like this. Also, the egg rolls seem like they are also pre-made and then warmed up and served when ordered. It's a shame because some of the other Chinese dishes we have tried are very well done. There just does not seem to be any consistency, unless you are going for Sushi. That has been the only constant thus far. The prices are also respectable, especially considering you do not have to drive clear to Houston in order to find some decent Japanese and Chinese food. It's right by Walmart and face it, you are going there eventually anyway! read more

Love Charming Cafe! It is just that.. Charming. The sushi is pretty good considering we are in Crosby.. The soups are good, the dumplings are pretty good. The service is usually great. While the Skydiver Roll is amazing, the repeatedly rude waitstaff and empty drink glasses make this place like most others in Crosby. It's barely average and a tad on the pricey side. However, because of the only other Asian cuisine in town taking a serious downturn over the years, if you want Asian food, this is the place to go. The dressing on the green salad is tasty as is the miso soup. Their House fried rice has large pieces of shrimp, chicken and pork. The lunch bento boxes are tasty as they are cute. read more

The food here is okay, but it is extremely overpriced. My most recent visit has not been the best, however. The waitress was very inexperienced and made it seem like she was rushing us out the door. "Would you like a box or would you like to keep working on your food?" The sushi is okay but they just load everything up with "crispies" and slap a $10-$13 price tag on it. Honestly, I'd prefer eating Chinese food from panda express...and that is saying something because I am Chinese and I pick on panda express all the time for not being authentic. Have eaten here many times and ehhh, it's alright. Do not order the chicken & broccoli...it is this weird white gravy, definitely NOT your classic chicken & broccoli dish. The mongolian triple delight is the best dish we've had so far, except it was a bit on the salty side. Fix that and it'd be perfect! Sesame chicken is pretty good but a bit too sweet. Egg rolls are pretty good and all the soups are good too. I absolutely love curry, but have been a little afraid of ordering that at Charming. Since I live in Crosby, I'll definitely eat here again, but if this were located in Houston where there are MANY options, I'd probably find somewhere else. read more

About as good as it gets when it comes to Chinese food in Crosby, TX. I work close to Crosby and frequent here for lunches about once-a-month. I always get a lunch special, which with tip, I pay about $11 for. It comes with a soup of your choice (I typically get the wonton), a salad, an egg roll, 3 sweet and sour pieces of chicken, white or fried rice, and the dish you ordered. It's a ton of food and I am usually full for the rest of the day. The guy who makes the sushi always talks to me when I sit at the bar. Nice, friendly place. read more

Walked in and was not greeted, I had to have a seat on my own. Once I was seated the waiter seen us and didn't bother to help us. I waited to see if he would say something and he never did so I finally told him no one had helped us even though he knew but didn't bother to. After I asked him he kind of had an attitude, he wasn't rude but he was just like not welcoming at all. The guy was young maybe like a high schooler, he didn't have customer service skills at all or manners! I had to ask him for chopsticks, napkins and a container for soy sauce after our food had already been given to us, when typically that's the first thing they give you. I am not a picky eater so the sushi it's self was okay not really all that even though I really like sushi. I will not be back to this place due to the horrible customer service! read more

This place is gross and the portions are SMALL! I order the orange chicken and my chicken comes out with some very thick sticky sauce....which comes on like all the food, it's gross! The stuff seems as if it is leftover from the nights before and just warmed up! read more

We walked in and were seated at a corner booth. Before we could even order, my daughter was crawling to my side of the booth because a roach was crawling from the wall to her bench seat. I took care of it and threw it away in the bathroom. My daughter ordered sushi and it came to the table warm. She ate one piece and couldn't eat anymore. It took forever to get the bill and I had to walk the payment up to the register because they never came back. We won't be back. read more

We called in our order and it was ready for pick up by the time I arrived. When I opened the door I saw a clean, well staffed restaurant. A server greeted me immediately and promptly brought out my order. Once home, I found our order exactly as expected and delicious! I will definitely return on my next trip to Crosby! read more

This is the second that we have visited this place. The first time we went a little too late and felt rushed but the food was very good. This time we tried to go earlier and ordered beers, sushi, edamami and 2 entrees. The waiter was very distracted and we couldnt get his attention to get napkins and soy sauce which we got ourselves. Then we found out later that he forgot to put our entree order in after the kitchen closed. We cancelled our entrees and asked for the check. A waitress came by and said that our apps and beers were free because the manager was aware of the problem. We most sincerely appreciated this guesture. There was absolutely.nothing wrong with the delicious food. It is refreshing when a manager acknowledges a problem instead of going on the defensive. I will absolutely go back.....but make sure that waiter has been trained better. read more

My family has been going here for the last 7 years. The food is very good and consistent in preparation. I enjoy the Tokyo Maki roll with extra sauce. The staff is exceptionally friendly and several remember us and make a point to greet us. The restaurant has always been very clean. read more

We have been going here since its opening but have not eaten here in several months. Got food to go tonight and was shocked at the quality. The beef and broccoli was not the usual high quality beef or sauce, the miso soup was still good but seemed like there was less miso and more seaweed and mushrooms (only complaint on that is it needs the miso back), the veggie egg rolls were soggy and tasted like a different kind or maybe the oil it was cooked in was not the usual. So sad and worried we may have lost one of our favorite eating establishments. read more
