I called the restaurant to let Them know that I did not get utensils. I spoke with a woman who said she would speak to her manager. shortly after I received a call from the gentleman who delivered my food. My first experience and I had the drunken noodles. I asked for spicy and it was actually quite spicy! This is appreciated, because most places will not turn up the heat for fear of having to remake the food if it's too spicy. Overall, the dish was not over salted and had a rich umami. Charm Thai is basic and average Thai food with a friendly staff. I like that they have little outdoor tables, and it is pretty good for the area. I order the Pad See Ew ($13) when I come here, and the portion is large. I always have a second meal's worth of food, and it's an average version of the dish. Service is leisurely. I went with coworkers on a lunch break. We ordered different dishes from their lunch menu (pictured). The food was nice, and the portions were pretty good. However, the waiter was a little aggressive with one of our interns because she didn't tip him, although the rest of the table did. It's unfortunate that happened because everything else about Charm Thai was indeed charming. We stopped in at Chramthai on a Friday night during a recent visit to DC. The restaurant is in a vibrant section of Foggy Bottom and there are a lot of things going on. Although the restaurant is very nice inside, we chose to sit out side and enjoy the sights and sounds. The service was very good and the staff was very attentive. There were 6 of us in our party and we shared a few dishes. I used to travel to Thailand 3 times per year several years ago for work and I love Thai food. It always amazes me that every Thai restaurant seems to have their own version of Pad Thai. Charmthai's version was OK, but a bit too sweet for my taste. We had a crispy salmon and that was bland, the Penang curry sauce helped out but that didn't pack the flavors I expected. The best dish we had a was the Basil rice with chicken. That has good flavors. They were also offering $1.99 Miller Lites which was good on a hot night. For us, Chramthai was just OK. Maybe we didn't order the right dishes. read more

Over the years, I've patronized this restaurant more often than not, since my work sponsor puts me up in a nearby hotel on my visits. The quality is consistently good to very good, and the service is always attentive. I've had both dine-in and delivery recently, and I've been very happy with both. Their basil dishes are among my faves, and what's wonderful is that they use fresh and plentiful basil leaves, rather than the droopy one or two in some Thai restaurant versions. The spice level is usually just right at 3 out of 4 (I like sweating when I eat Thai), and they don't overload their dishes with cheap green and red peppers. Lots of snow peas, onions, and some nicely julienned red bell peppers (along with the hot ones). The Pad Thai is not as spicy, but the noodles are done just right, and it's not supposed to be a hot hot dish. My wife loved hers, and saved enough to enjoy another round for lunch a day later. By the way, our delivery order a couple of nights ago arrived hot, tasty, and early. read more

And, 2 of the main dish and 1 soup were nothing but DECEIT! When we arrived at 10:25pm, it was in the plastic bag and there was no way to find the mess they had put in. 1. Imperial Pad Thai. thin sheet of egg blanket, then thin hair noodles (not flat noodles) peanuts, no scallion, no beansprouts, no Fried King Prawn! Awfully sweet and nothing else. all glued together, in heavy sugar syrup. Their regular Pad Thai with veggie is $13, and We were charged $18. Their menu on Grubrub or Ubereats shows $17. So, what is up with the price difference? 2. Crispy Basil Duck (in Lunch box container) : white rice, 2 broccoli, then 4 pieces of fried fat duck, with no Basil or any spice on it. Their menu shows it is spicy. but, it is plainly fried meat. Not seasoned at all. This is not supposed to be charged at $18 at all. The kitchen should have explained they ran out of ingredients if that is their excuse. 3. Chicken Herb Soup. 2 thinly sliced (1/8") 1-inch long meats and 1 cherry tomato. No herb. I think they just added tomato ketchup to coconut milk. The bartender took my order on the phone and he insisted we get drinks and I ordered ginger ale ($2.50) and Spiked Thai Milk Tea $11. That Tasted like Ethanol in Milk Tea. Without knowing their heartless food prepared for us, I tipped them 20% extra. Please, don't support any small business which treat their customers with utter disrespect and has no pride in their foods. SHAME ON THEM! read more
