What originally set Atlantic Custom Canvas apart was their customer service over the phone. I spoke to a man named Ashby who took a lot of time answering my questions and giving me professional insight and even talked about some of the added value they provided over the competition (like Gore Tex thread). I decided to roll the dice and give them a shot and boy am I glad I did. They came out to the house and were extremely thorough and professional taking measurements and laying out a template. A week later a second trip out to the house for a fitting and final snap button placement. The results were outstanding. The fit and finish and attention to detail were second to none. The original quoted price stayed the same witht he completed job, no surprises, and they even worked in some special requests I had with the canvas. I couldnt be happier, and would recommend this shop without hesitation. True professionals!

I used Chesapeake Dockside Services in Annapolis, Maryland for many years for maintenance on my…read moreboat. I had a great relationship with Chris (the owner) and Rob over the years. For most of that time, service was solid -- they generally showed up on time, were helpful, and I paid every bill promptly. We had a good relationship for a long time. Over the last year or two, though, things slipped noticeably. They started showing up haphazardly, often not on the days they promised, and it would take a week to a few weeks to get any email confirmation or follow-up. Communication became very spotty. That came to a head when I was selling my boat and needed a tachometer issue fixed -- the engine was over-revving. I contacted Chris directly, explained it was time-sensitive because the boat was being surveyed for sale, and was told I'd be added to the list and taken care of quickly. Instead, I waited five weeks with no update, emailed twice with no response, and finally had to call the office myself to ask what the delay was. That's when Austin told me Chris and Rob were both out on vacation at the same time, leaving him as the only guy handling everything -- with zero communication to me beforehand that there'd be any delay. I was told a tech would come out that Monday. Austin confirmed he'd be there. He never showed. When I followed up Thursday, he said he'd just gotten busy and never made it out -- his response was basically, "good luck, I hope it turns out okay for you." The pre-sale survey happened before the tachometer was ever fixed. As a direct result, I had to lower the overall price of the boat and create a $2,000 seller's allowance during negotiations. I lost several thousand dollars because they didn't show up and fix the problem like they said they would. Despite a decade of loyalty and on-time payments, the lack of communication and missed commitments during a time-sensitive repair left me feeling like I was no priority whatsoever, and that our long-standing relationship didn't matter at all. I felt betrayed, and this growing pattern of unprofessionalism and lack of caring has reached a point where I would not recommend them, nor would I ever use their services again if I get another boat. You're paying a premium and getting low-budget service.

Our experience with Alex and his team at Persimmon Point Marine has been unbelievably positive…read more They are responsive, honest, and genuinely interested in their customers being educated on the repairs the boat needs, why if needs them, and doing good work. I learned more working with Alex over the phone about good boat maintenance than I could have hoped for. Alex gave us an honest assessment of the boat, a three very reasonable quotes for good, better, and top-tier options to fix it so that we could make the best decision for our self's. There are so many marinas near our home off the South River that it can be difficult to know who to trust with repairs. We were very glad that we found the folks at Persimmon Point. BOE did an install for me that worked, but not quite up to what was expected. The system installed worked great, except on rare occasions. Fortunately, the system issue did not limit the use of the boat. The system simply was not working to expectations. BOE stood by their instal, attempting to figure out what caused the intermit error. BOE reviewed their instal, ran multiple scenarios to replicate the error, and engaged the manufacturer. Many companies would have argued the system was working and the interment error was caused by something outside their scope, and did not limit the use of the electronics. BOE did not take that approach. They replaced a key component, which was not cheap, at their expense to ensure the system met expectations. I really appreciate doing business with a company that wants to make things work right!

It was subsequently suggested that the new system was not compatible with the old autopilot and they steered me toward purchasing a new auto pilot. I was cheated and never even offered an apology.
