BUYER BEWARE! Total scam! I Was contacted by Charlotte Matchmakers after making an online profile on another website. I went in for an appointment and met with Nancy. She made it seem like the service was great and they had lots of Christian men looking for a match, lots of men my age and they even go out and scout to get new members. She offered me a discounted deal for 5 matches and I could do a payment plan. I paid $1K and was told I could pay the other $1K in one month. On Monday I was contacted by Nancy and told they couldn't proceed without me making a full payment--no work had been done on my account as of yet. I told her I had changed my mind and didn't want to proceed. I contacted my credit card company to request a stop payment. 25 days after I sent multiple emails and left several voicemails about my request to cancel I heard back from Charlotte Matchmakers. She told me they were still "investigating" my request. I told her I had already requested a stop payment. ANOTHER 30 days later I heard back from my credit card company that Charlotte Matchmakers was disputing my stop payment. So these jerks get to keep my $1K for NOTHING. I should have read the reviews before I went in. I was taken advantage of and these people will pressure you and take your money. It's horrible, totally not worth it! I called Nancy at 704-605-7339 and she didn't answer. Called from a different number and she picked right up. She basically was like oh well...sorry about your luck. I joined Charlotte Matchmakers in 2017. The way this worked was they had a nice comprehensive interview and took an awful picture with her phone and then they called me for my first match. They said he matched me on a couple of common interests and he was a professional. There were no pictures provided of him (I guess that would have been a lot more money), but they assured me they take appearance into account in matching. He made it clear in our first meeting he wasn't looking for a wife, he was looking for someone to "keep him company", he wouldn't go to church if that was my thing, and to top it off he was not attractive. Second Match was a much older man who they said was very active and young for his age and I decided to give it a try. After talking, I decided I couldn't go through with meeting him. The third match disregarded that I didn't want to match with anyone who had children under 18. I felt very deceived by this company and just want to advise you to try Match or another service. I wish there was some sort of legal consequences for the people who are in charge of this scam. They are such despicable individuals, very well trained to talk people into paying for the service (if that can be called a service)...They make sure to deceive you and trick you into being more flexible with what you want. So, take for example: This guy smokes. Would you consider someone who smokes as he fits your criteria by being much taller than you, eyes the color you like best and everything else you are looking for. Thought to myself, why not? Well, I met this guy who was indeed much taller than me, smelled like nicotine even without yet getting off his car, teeth brown as a brownie and so thin I thought he was about to pass out any moment. He clearly did not expect to meet someone like me because he looked kind of disappointed yet tried his best to not be rude/disregarding...I met three guys through this "company" and the last one I met actually told me how Teresa kept tricking him into being open minded and giving it another try. I'm a member at Charlotte Matchmakers. For the opinions of 3 people with discerning reviews, I thought I would post mine. Theresa is a real person. She does take her time to find a right match for you. It isn't always instant, but the guys I have met are within the realm of what I'm looking for in a guy. No, I haven't had the perfect one, YET. But, there is still time and she does keep her eye out for me. In any dating situation, you have to keep an open mind. I went to Charlotte Matchmakers, because they do do background checks, and have had the initial meeting with each member. I'm confident in the matches I have been given and feel that in time there will be the right one. It just has to be exactly the right one. You do have the option for a match presented to you, to say no in having a date - I have done that, and it has never been an issue nor has counted against me. Theresa is open and honest and is easy to talk to. She has always taken my calls and if she is unavailable she does get back to me as soon as possible. read more

I was vulnerable, and wanted to believe this would work. After they got my money, I was 'matched' with someone who didn't fit my criteria - lived way too far. Then months went by. I was so frustrated, I contacted a reporter to expose them and lo and behold, the same day he contacted them, I got a new 'match'. Unfortunately my story is eerily similar to many here. I paid a ridiculous amount of money ($7k which was "discounted") for a service far inferior to online dating (unbelievable I know). It was a high pressure sale (als Nancy) for which I had to decide "right now" to get the discount. My "match maker" (Teresa and then Sharon) never could remember anything about me and tried to "match" me with people grossly outside of basic criteria (like someone who lives in Maryland or the guy who hates kids despite me having 2). What a horrible experience! Somehow they got my number, and continued to call me after I told them that I wasn't interested in spending money to get signed up with them, as I knew how it worked. She wanted me to come in anyway, and when I got there, I spoke with Nancy, who seemed very interested in getting to know more about me. At this point I didn't know if they were interested in me for a possible match with someone or what the purpose of the appointment was. As I sat there in the office, I began to hear certain comments about becoming a client, so I decided to stop her in the conversation to make sure she was aware that I wasn't interested in joining and paying money to her service. Nancy became very angry, and began speaking to me in a very disrespectful tone, and accused me of coming there and waisting her time. She asked me why I came if I new that I wasn't going to join, and I told her that I had already told the other lady who had called me several times that I was not interested in paying a joining fee, and she insisted that I come anyway. Nancy told me that there is no matchmaking service where the female doesn't pay, and I corrected her as I know several which do not charge the female to join the service. She then became irate with me and told me that I was "out of my mind", and was just extremely rude and disrespectful with her words toward me with insinuating that I was looking for someone to "take care of me".. I chose not to get into a shouting match with her and just left her office. I wanted to warn people about this service, and let you know my experience. STOP - DO NOT SIGN UP! I really wish I had read the reviews below before throwing these pathetic, unprofessional, scammers $8,000 dollars. I am a professional single who works from home and had recently relocated to Charlotte, where I did not know anyone. I liked that they did a background check but honestly, I would rather take my chances on Match or any other reasonable priced site. They did nothing but try to set me up with men 15 years older than me who were not even divorced. Then got mad at me when I refused. They lied about people's profiles and in nearly a year I had only two dates. One was so gross and rude, I could not believe they would even try to set me up with him. Nancy acted like they had a line of men just waiting for me and I was such a catch that I was going to be so busy. It was crickets for months. Then Theresa was as unprofessional and rude as they come. I was then told she was let go and to please give it another chance to only be set up with a guy who never called or another 65 year old. I joined Charlotte Matchmakers about 2 years ago. After trying dating site after dating site I had given up and figured it wasn't meant to be. I remember going online that night and playing around on the computer when I saw their ad pop up. I took it as a sign, filled out my info, and got a call the next day. After putting it off for a little while, I finally set up a time to meet with someone. That day I can say I made one of the best decisions/investments of my life. After about 6 months and several dates later I met THE ONE; and June 18th of this year we tied the knot! I was scammed out of $$$ as well. Signed up in September 2016 and this is July 2018 and I have not been on not one date. I was assured they had a pool of suitable men fitting my preferences before I signed the contract. The first guy that called me was recently widowed and not ready to date again. The second guy was short and I specifically requested men taller than myself. The next guy never called and they told me to contact him and he said he was on hold because of his new job assignment. The last guy never called and again I was told to contact him and his mail box was full and they tried to contact him but could not get in touch with him either. In March 2018 they called again and despite my preferences on my application said they thought I would be open minded and date outside of my preferences. I stated that they that didn't have a problem with my preferences when they took my money while overselling their availability pool and I dare them accuse me of not being open minded! SCAM!! SCAM!! SCAM!!! Don't waste your MONEY or TIME on these people! I was a member since November 2015 and here it is Aug 2016 and they have not yet to match me with anyone in my age group or criteria. You will be better off on tinder, POF, match or any online dating sites. The sales person Brittany Williams at the location that I signed up ensured me it was men my age waiting for someone like (keep in mind I'm 30). The matchmaker called me named Teresa (who called me from some customer service hot line somewhere in the US). Teresa began setting me up with men 20yrs older than me which was not in contract. Also, I did not want any men with children because I do not have children myself. She told me it's find to hard to a man with no kids nowadays and for me to settle. What a joke!! This should have been a big red flag. Things went downhill from my second match. She started setting me up with people that was not compatible or did not share the same interest. So after having several talks with Teresa, expressing my concerns, there was no changes. So I started to ignore her phone calls because when I asked to speak with a supervisor to express my concerns they were not available. You want to know why because the matchmakers are FAKE...you are dialing a CALL CENTER. So since I couldn't get in touch with anyone I took it upon myself to go the office at Fort Mill, SC to speak to the sales person (Brittany Williams) who signed me up. I took a day off from work and arrived at the office and not to my surprise the doors were LOCKED! The reason is because they don't like any surprises. Bottom line I was not able to speak with Brittany and the other lady Nicole told me she had a client and couldn't speak to me and make an appointment and to call client services. This was a big run around and a bunch of lies...I've been calling client services AKA call centers and no one has call me back to solve my issue. But I have NEWS for them. I have a family member who works for the news and she will get my story out there. Just wanted to share my story and experience with you all. Unfortunately I succumbed to paying thousands of dollars with the honest belief that a professional matchmaking service could assist me in finding a compatible mate in light of my busy schedule. I was hopeful for months even after paying the sum that the service would find someone that at the very least fit the following parameters: single, male, a profession/had a job, between the ages of 30-39, and no children. However, after 6 months of lead after lead that did not fit these parameters I lost hope. I remembered though that I bought the package that I could resale and transfer any unused portion to another buyer. The initial therapist/salesperson had stated that the matchmaking service would assist me in reselling the unused portion. Therefore, upon my discontent that I knew there would be no refunds, I contacted the service to move forward with selling my unused portion to another person. As the therapist had pointed out, there are always those out there that are less fortunate than I. Lo and behold, upon this call, I was told that I would have to find the buyer. A buyer for a service that I would never recommend to any of my friends? Absolutely not! I was utterly frustrated because of the misrepresentations in not only the available referrals but also the exact parameters of the "resale" option. Had I known I would have to find the buyer, I would have never purchased the package. Please, please, please do not waste your time or money on this service. The deceit and disappointment are not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere. Trust me, I have had more success with Tinder than I have had with this matchmaking service. read more
