I just finished my car shopping experience and although I did not end up purchasing from Charlie's Toyota, I still wanted to leave a review because I had a great experience here. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to look at the differences between some different models and trim levels. Shannon, the sales guy who helped me, was extremely helpful. He clearly explained and showed me the differences between everything I was interested in looking at. We spent about 20 minutes and in that time I was able to determine what model and trim levels I should narrow my search to. Shannon was not pushy at all, gave us space to look, and was extremely knowledgeable. Getting an in-person look at the sizes and trim levels here at Charlie's Toyota was the most time well spent of all my car shopping experience. They ended up not having the used inventory I was looking for so I purchased elsewhere, but the time I spent here was instrumental in my decisions. I definitely recommend working with Shannon! read more

2025 RAV4 Hybrids have been hard to get in the Portland area. I called Charlie's and they were able to get me one within a few days that met my specifications. Shannon, our sales guy, was pleasant and knowledgeable, and even came in on his day off so we could pick the car up at our convenience. He walked us through getting CarPlay set up and through any of the features we were not familiar with from our 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. Michelle, the Finance Manager was also very pleasant and made all of the paperwork easy. They also have a nice perk with free car washes for the life of your car, but we live too far away to take advantage of them, though will swing in whenever we head north. All in all a positive buying experience and I would definitely recommend Charlie's Toyota to anyone looking to buy a Toyota. read more

I am really impressed with Charlie's Toyota! I initially wanted a hybrid Grand Highlander, but I was not finding what I wanted. So I decided on a Prius hybrid, but still found nothing appealing. I loved my 2012 Prius. Great cars! So, needing a vehicle, I decided to try a hybrid LE Rav4. Chris took time to check all Toyota dealerships to locate the best buy for me. It's because of his selfless dedication that I united with my desired vehicle, LE, roof rack, most inexpensive, with magnetic gray exterior. He saved me a lot of time! Chris is my sales person. In a couple years, you can be sure I will check back in with Chris to see what new is being offered. Superb human being and sales person! read more

I had an appointment for my 2023 Rav 4 for its 15K service. Scheduled appointment was for 11:15 and they told me it would take 45 minutes. I thought 45 minutes for rotating tires, checking brakes and fluid levels and their 9 point check was a little more than I would have thought it would take but whatever At 12:30 I went out and asked how my car was doing. They said they were checking on the cost of new tires. After waiting an additional 10 minutes I told them I had to go. He gave me the key but no paperwork explaining what was wrong with the tires and which ones were affected. Overall a bad experience read more

I called Charlie's after a horrific experience at a dealership closer to home, and spoke to Harold. I was pretty burnt-out after my bad experience elsewhere, and was relieved to find that (even over the phone) Charlie's was a breath of fresh air! I filled Harold in on everything. I already knew what I was looking for, but I wanted to see what numbers he could give me for a lease. He told me that he would have the numbers to me within the hour. Also, he was upfront in letting me know that although that Charlie's didn't have the vehicle in the color I was looking for in their inventory that day, they could get it for me within a day or two. I never felt any sales-y pressure throughout our conversation at all, which was a huge deal for me. Once I saw the numbers Harold sent along, I chose to move forward. Even though my vehicle wasn't "in stock" that day, I chose to move forward with Charlie's simply because of my interactions with Harold. The two days of being vehicle-less and waiting for my new Toyota were worth it for a stress-free process! Within two days, I received a text that my new Toyota was in, so I made the trip to Charlie's after work. Harold was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process! I highly recommend Charlie's Toyota for any new or used vehicle needs - ask for Harold! It was well worth the hour-plus drive, and I am super happy with my new vehicle! I cannot say enough great things about Harold and my overall experience at Charlie's! read more

We had a pleasant, honest, no-pushy sales experience with Charlie's Toyota when we bought our 2017 Prius Prime. We shopped around at three other Toyota dealers but Charlie's had the best inventory and gave us a fair deal. Harold Hutchins was a great salesman and even gave us his contact info so we could ask him questions about our new car after the sale. Travis helped us get a good loan with $0 down and a lower interest rate than we found anywhere else. As a bonus, it was nice knowing that our purchase helps Charlie's donate funds to the local community. read more

It took a month to get an oil change appointment but I waited. Had a 1015 am appointment, dropped the car off at 955 am. Didn't get out until 1155am. 2 hours for an oil change is unacceptable. Will be my last choice from now on. Used to be so professional, but now, who knows what happened? read more

No major issues buying a vehicle from Charlie's. I don't generally love car dealerships, but my experience here went fairly smoothly, in and out in under an hour. The vehicle was cleaned thoroughly before I picked it up. My salesman was friendly and not too pushy. Was a little disappointed to notice that the vehicle only had a quarter tank of gas when I got it home (they said they would fill the tank before I picked it up). That lost them a star. read more

Service dept was terrible. I bought my truck in april. Had a few things they agreed to fix including horn not working, plastic piece on bumper falling off and 12 volt outlet hanging out. I had to call to get the appointment for the first time. They fixed only the horn took 3 hours. said that has to order the parts for the other issues. Waited 3 weeks had to call them again to find out they had the parts. Went back in waited 5 hours. Called them again to find out it was just finishing up. When i picked it up only the plastic bumper piece was fixed the 12 volt still pulls out. So a total of 8 hours wait between 2 days to fix a horn and a plastic molding piece on bumper and 1 thing that was shown on paperwork to be fixed actually was not. Will not be returning a third time I'll go elsewhere and rec everyone else do the same read more

I have purchased many cars and trucks from Charlie's in the past along with my family. I would say 15 or so. I have also referred about 20 people there. The last 4 times I have tried to do business with them, they have ignored me or not returned calls. I prefer to do my business local and support local dealers. I have noticed a shift in their sales department where it now seems to be money or customers. That is truly sad if that is the case. I have reached out as much as I will go try and give them my business. I suppose they are making enough money that they don't need mine or my family's anymore. read more

I would not buy another car from Charlie's. $45K for a new Highlander - out of the parking lot the alignment is way off - had to bring it back in a snowstorm to get that fixed. 2,000 miles in, the right hand speakers start going in and out. I bring it in, spend three hours of my life in their waiting room (because they don't provide loaners), and they tell me they can't find the problem. But the problem persists; it was not all in my head. I'm now waiting again in their service department at 10,000 miles for the same problem. Still no loaner even though they failed to fix the problem the first time. To me, this is just a complete lack of respect for your customers. Oh, and the whole "free car washes for the life of your car" thing? You wait in a line for two hours for your car wash. Like I said, a lack of respect. read more

I love this dealership. Service has always been excellent though Toyotas do not need much. My prius is the same. In 100,000 only brake issues. My GMC truck cannot say that. Service is always fast and efficient and extraordinary. Do not have to wait weeks for an appointment. Good waiting with internet so it is easy to work when I am here. Not the closest dealership to my home but it is where I have gotten the best service for both purchase and service. Would highly recommend. read more

They wasted my entire afternoon by not giving me my trade in value upfront like I asked as soon as I walked though the door. Instead, I was assured by Nick that they are always with blue book range. After multiple hours at the dealership the first trade in value we were given was on target. Then they realized they did not take into account the email coupon I had. Suddenly, and conveniently for them, with the coupon my trade in is worth $3000 less and no longer within the blue book range. Truly, a waste of time and they were defensive when presented with feedback that we could have saved hours if they had just given the trade value upfront. We have purchased multiple vehicles from Charlie's dealerships before. We won't be back. read more

Great job service department!! I brought my used rav4 in for a strange drive train noise and left with a rental vehicle. Came back next morning and my Toyota was ready to go with a new torque converter at no charge to me. Thanks again Charlie's crew read more

I drove all the way from Scarborough Maine to Augusta to buy a new truck. I passed 3 other Toyota dealers on the way. Other dealerships had the same truck, but NOT THE SAME PRICE! I would advise everyone looking for a new vehicle to contact Charlie's and give them a chance to earn your business. Just like they say, "See Us First... See Us Last... But See Us and $ave." I DID AND I SAVED a $1000.00. read more

We found the car we wanted online and emailed Charlie's. They quickly came back with a quote on the vehicle so we dropped in to see it. Sam was our salesman. I didn't really need to try it out but he soon had me behind the wheel. He was very knowledgeable about the Camry's; telling us all the great features. I went back on Monday to buy the car but it was sold....again Sam showed me a great Camry and soon I was working with Rich to come up with a deal. He wanted to win my business and he did. Jimmy was also great to work with for financing. I can't wait to use the car wash! I hear the service department is very good. Stay tuned for that review in a few weeks! read more

Great buying experience! Friendly, courteous and helpful salespeople and sales manager. I never felt pressured to buy. Everyone worked with me to come up with a deal that was good for me. I would buy from Charlie's again and won't hesitate to recommend Charlie's to friends and relatives. read more

I have mixed feelings about my experience with Charlie's. I'd heard great things and at first it all seemed true. The price was fair, the environment was very low pressure and overall I was able to get my new car with very few hassles. The bad experience started when I was about to leave with my certified pre-owed vehicle. When I'd test driven a few days earlier, there was no manual to be found. I was told that would be rectified because CPO means they have to include the manual. However, still no manual. I was also told when they handed over the key that they had never received that spare so they were going to try to track it down, but barring that would order a new one. I was bummed, but drove off thinking the great service would continue and all would be fine soon. Not so much. I didn't hear from Charlie's after the first week, so I emailed the salesperson to ask. He said he'd try to contact the previous owner again, but nothing yet. In a follow-up email a few days later, I remembered to inquire about a manual as well. He said still nothing on the keys, but he'd found a manual. No mention of how I'd obtain said manual. A week later I emailed again to ask that the manual be sent to me and that they arrange for me to get a new key programed at a local Toyota dealership (I live about an hour away). He obviously didn't read the email, just responded that he'd ordered a new key. Nothing about arrangements for key programing or sending the manual. Today I got a call from the service department asking me to make an appointment to come in for the new fob. I emailed the salesperson again and was told they could send me the fob, but I had to pay to get it programed elsewhere. That didn't seem right since they dropped the ball in the first place and they have such highly regarded customer service, so I called to inquire. No dice. They offered to fill my tank (admittedly a nice gesture) when I came up, but that's all. Unfortunately, my problem is more about my time than about a full tank of gas. Also, the fate of my manual is still unclear. Overall, I'm disappointed in my experience and I wish I'd gone with a different dealer. Next time, I will. read more
