A fly tyer's paradise owned and operated by fly tying expert and author Charlie Craven himself! Charlie was there today and was more than happy to advise us on selecting flies for the specific lake we'll be venturing to tomorrow. Tying supplies are in abundance at this beautiful store, as is a wide select of all other gear you may need. While this store is a bit pricey, it is easy to see why this shop is a favorite among discerning Colorado anglers. Staff is extremely helpful, gear is top notch, the location is convenient if you're bound for the high country, and a number of classes are available. My only lament is the lack of women's gear, but this is a problem in the fly fishing industry in general!

The store itself is huge and located within the restored 1901 Denver Tramway Building. This building is all brick and just stunning to walk up to and into. They offer every type of equipment one would need for their selected sport whether it's hiking, climbing, cycling, camping, paddling, skiing, snowboarding or overall fitness. They also offer the option to rent outdoor equipment, provide a full range bike shop and ski and snowboard services. The store features a 47 foot tall climbing wall right in the middle of the floor and other unique decorations. I have never been in such a huge REI store but it was a fun experience. My husband managed to spend all his saved up gift cards (Ha! Ha!) Service was friendly and helpful from the staff. REI can always be a little on the spendy side but I always try to catch their sales. I love being a member and receiving my annual rewards. Parking is the only downer as it's only free for the first hour. After that you must pay and believe me, an hour is not enough time here. So glad we had the opportunity to stop in, shop and check out this historic location.

I've…read morebeen in these stores, all over Colorado, New Mexico, Alaska, & have always been given outstanding service. It breaks my heart to see the selection of items dwindling down to next to nothing. I used to go into my store (84th) and could look around for an hour and find something new every time. The pricing has always been competitive, sometimes downright cheap. 200 reviews for a store that's been open for 10 plus years, says to me that the only time anyone gives a review is when they have a complaint. I'd bet I've been in my store 200 plus times. Support local businesses, these companies employ your neighbors. My only complaint is that this is a corporation, & the policies are handed down from a board that probably wouldn't know the correct end to hold of a fishing pole, or firearm for that matter. P.S. The last time I was in they had a sale on sleeping bags 25% off, one of the staff was right there to answer our questions , & couldn't have been more helpful. I wish I could remember his name.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously and considers making some positive changes to improve the customer experience. Customers deserve to feel welcomed, respected, and confident in the information they receive when making a purchase. In my opinion, it may be time for some fresh leadership and a new approach at the gun counter.
