Such a fun LGBTQ place in Denver, with lots of energy, something for everyone and cheap drinks! Gregorio is amazing and the taco truck outback shouldn't be missed--best quesadillas in Denver!

Cover charge, nobody here, awful service. Why bother when it's free at X-Bar across the street?

Tight End Sports Bar - BOGO Happy Hour Draft Beer

Had the chance to explore Tight End Sports Bar (love a good play on words moment) to catch the game…read moreand had a great time. This spot is very laidback and relaxed, so it's great if you want to be in a queer and inclusive space but without the chaos of some of the larger well known bars. You'll notice quite quickly this is more of a sit-down spot with plenty of tvs, dart boards, and pizza. The bar was super friendly and inviting. I'm sure when there isn't a game playing, you can play music from their jukebox. Sadly enough I didn't have the chance to grab pizza, but it looked so damn cheesy. I'm sure this is the perfect moment for those who met get the drunchies. What really stood out to me were the unisex bathrooms. Since I went on a Sunday they had bucket of beer specials and a fireball shot special. Beer buckets were "buy 3 get 2 free" and the fireball shot special was "3 for $15". Make it a point to check out the bar if you can.

This is a fun place to grab a beer and watch your favorite sports. There are plenty of televisions…read moreand they play the sound for the most relevant and local games. Their happy hour is buy one get one and last until 8 PM. There is also a nice patio space which is great for the warmer weather. The only downside of it is that it is right on Colfax so there can be unwelcome guests as you are enjoying your beverage. Overall though want to support this local gay bar!

The Pearl - Best vending machine I've ever seen

The Pearl

This review is a bit different from my usual ones, but for good reason…read more This past Friday some friends and I attended the Jazz night in the Jungle room and loved it. We eventually transitioned to the Rose room so we could chat amongst ourselves. The space is large, with booths and tables spread out around the room. We initially made ourselves comfortable near the stage, but then quickly moved to a booth as it was larger and could accommodate the rest of our friends who planned to join us. I sat on the outer most side of the booth, with a good view of the rest of the room, and made awkward eye contact with a man, who then continued to stare me down. He then approached our table, became increasingly combative and aggressive, claiming the table was his and honestly, just seemed to be looking to fight. I write this review not to dog on the crowd, but rather remark on how safe the staff and other patrons made us feel during this encounter. We held our own, eventually insisting this distraught individual leave us alone, all the while the barista at the coffee bar watched vigilantly, using hand signals to ensure we felt safe. Another table began recording the encounter, which I think further deterred the man from his verbal assault on our group. I've experienced similar at other bars and have been left feeling more scared, but because of the way the community at the Pearl stood beside us, felt regulated after the encounter, and continued to enjoy my night. My only note is that they should lower the cost of wine by the glass, or get bigger glasses! I can purchase the same brands by the bottle at the grocery store for the cost of a glass here. I'll definitely be back

I was invited by a friend to check this place out--she mentioned it was a new lesbian bar. When I…read moresaw the address, I realized it was the old Mercury Café, which I've never been a fan of due to the parking and the general area. Had I known beforehand, I probably wouldn't have come. That said, I was surprised to actually find parking not too far away. I did pass a few questionable characters on my walk over, and I hoped my car would still be there when I got back. Once inside, I met up with my friend. Like others have mentioned, the music in the main bar area was extremely loud--too loud to hold a conversation. It was crowded, and people kept bumping into each other, but to be fair, everyone was respectful about it. No one seemed to be doing it with bad intentions. The line at the bar was chaotic, but once I finally got up there, the bartenders were super friendly and attentive. We eventually made our way to the adjoining room, and it was a completely different vibe--much quieter and more relaxed. We could actually talk. I decided to order food. One server--tall, with black hair and torn fishnets--told me I had to order at the bar. But another server, much more accommodating, let me order from her directly and took great care of us. I ordered the patty melt, and it was surprisingly good--definitely better than what the Mercury Café used to offer (which was strictly vegetarian). Ultimately, though, I don't think I'll be returning. The noise level in the main bar was just too much, and the overall environment felt uncomfortable to me. Yes, it's a bar, but the acoustics in that building are rough for the kind of crowd they attract. I did notice they host various classes upstairs, which could be a cool draw for some people--just not quite enough to get me back.

It isn't HUGE, but it ain't nothing... and it's very dive bar. Food, I can't comment on because I didn't have any... but the drinks were good and their machines and nozzles appeared to be cleaned with regularity, so... things actually TASTED good. Went here during Pride, and they were chill AF to let us crash out from the heat for a bit, and use the restroom and everything, so that's a great thing and a tip in their direction. Made sure to buy some drinks, and a water, and tip the bar staff. Could use a little TLC, but I don't think that's its appeal. It's embracing its dive feel... and I don't think that's a bad thing. This area is... interesting at night. Lots of... wandering people, from rich businessmen and the common everyday folk, to sex workers and homeless people. The whole gang is down in this zone, so you will... mix and mingle, so prepare for that in whatever way you want or need. I'd suggest a backpack being down here; bags are not given out, you have to buy them, and the reusable bags have a tax on them now too... so just bring your own bag. Even a little drawstring bag would be fine; just something to carry odds and ends around in. If during the summer, HATS AND SUNGLASSES, are highly recommended. During the winter, this area gets pretty regular traffic, so the snow stays tamped down.

It still is absolutely a dive bar with all the dive bar things like cheap drinks, pool table, semi functioning bathroom. Drinks were super cheap during happy hour ($1 off each drink). A high life can was $2. You can't beat that! The change machine and pool table are a little beat up but that's to be expected. Bathroom was in a similar state. The highlight during my recent visit was definitely the bartender. I forgot to catch his name but he was killing it behind the bar and troubleshooting the change machine all by himself. If you're looking for a true dive bar, William's Tavern is a great choice. Tip: Don't pay to park at the meters on 17th. The streets going perpendicular are free for 2 hours!
