On the way home from a visit to a relatives in a neighboring town, my husband and I were discussing what to do for dinner. We ran through all the usual spots, and we finally settled on Charlie's Chicken on Chandler. I saw that their special they had for Sunday was something both the hubby could enjoy. The hubby picked the meatloaf dinner with broccoli cheese casserole,a roll, and baked beans and sweet tea. I had the chicken and dressing with broccoli cheese casserole, baked beans, gravy and a roll. Since it had been awhile since we had stopped in, it was a great choice for some home cooking on a Sunday Night. read more

I don't eat at Charlie's very often, but I get a craving for it every now and then. It's always delicious fried chicken and home style southern side dishes. My first job was a Charlie's Chicken, so I love every menu item. I also had a Charlie's Chicken in Tulsa cater my wedding! This location on the East side of Muskogee is run by the youth. Service is always quick and efficient. The inside is cafeteria style ordering. I usually just get take out from the drive thru. It's good stuff, even if it's a bit pricey compared to other chicken spots. read more

Charlie's Chicken - 3 Chunk Dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy and baked beans. 1/2 pint of chicken livers - Chicken Shop Near Me - Muskogee, Oklahoma

This one in particular is my favorite in the Charlie's chain. The food is fresh. The gravy here doesn't disappoint, but I wish they all tasted the same at all the restaurant's in the Charlie's Chicken 'sphere. The up front servers are always sweet and don't mind expressing a smile. I haven't had a underwhelming experience here. I have been stopping by for this and that since my high school years, they were new then on Chandler. Whatever it is, don't change that gravy!! Chicken chunks are really great too, absolutely a must try. Green beans, a roll!! Don't forget to ask for the jalapeños if you like some spicy chicken, separate of course hence they don't make spicy flavored chicken. I'm okay with that. I'd post pics. But I will later!! Good restaurant. Great eats !! read more

This used to be the best place to eat in town. I grew up eating Charlie's pretty often on Sundays after church, and the only thing that's improved are their rolls. The chicken "chunks" are more like chicken nuggets now. Their prices make zero sense because they're extremely expensive yet their portions just keep shrinking? Their chocolate pie is divine though. I could live on it for the rest of my life lol. Caution: their soda prices will send your blood pressure through the roof! They have always had great service and a clean dining area, and they're locally owned but have stores everywhere now, so they must be doing something right! Please bring back those chunks, Charlie's! They're what put you on the map! read more

Any time I'm visiting my family in OK, Charlie's Chicken is a must!! The chicken chunks & mashed potatoes with pepper gravy is the best! But the catfish, cole slaw, & friend okra is also great. The location is clean & spacious. The employees are friendly & were especially helpful when I decided on my last day to put in a large order for pick up with very short notice. read more

Delicious! Very clean and good service. Definitely going there again! Both me and my husband were happy with it

When Charlie's serves up piping hot chicken with mashed potatoes and their famous (kinda) rolls, it's great! The reason I'm giving them three stars is that more often than not, regardless of which location I visit, the chicken is only warm and tastes like it was made some time ago, the mashed potatoes are meh, and the rolls are struggling to maintain their little warmth. Charlie's chicken (I'm a fan of the chunks) play second fiddle to the star attraction -- their dinner rolls. They aren't complex or made with a special grain or anything like that, but I have enjoyed them ever since childhood! Ask any local Muskogeean (yes, that is how the demonym is spelled) and they'll tell you that Charlie's is on the expensive side for chicken, which is true. But since the Church's Chicken on Okmulgee Street is basically a health code violation and KFC is somewhat far away, the two Charlie's locations enjoy a crowd. One unusual thing about every Charlie's is that the drive through has a two-window setup but the first window is never used. Ever. This isn't terribly problematic, but it means that you look over the menu before getting to window #1, completely bypass window #1 because no one is there, and then place your order at window #2, pay, and wait. It causes a bit of a backup in the line and is inefficient, but again, not awful. read more

Charlie's Chicken - 2-piece chicken chunk meal. The chicken was a bit dry but the mashed potatoes have the same taste as when I was a kid! - Chicken Shop Near Me - Muskogee, Oklahoma

Okay, it's been a long time since I have eaten Charlie's chicken so maybe it used to be better but. Oh my god. We got 8 pieces of dark meat, that was $17+. Wow. THAT IS A LOT. 7 chicken chunks was nearly $11. So each piece of dark meat chicken was over $2 a piece. This did not include sides or rolls or even any kind of sauces. The service was FANTASTIC. The ladies who waited on us were as nice and kind as can be! An absolute pleasure! The chicken however, did it's price, in my opinion, should have been the most delicious chicken I have ever put in my mouth. I took ONE bite and almost just gave it all to my cat. It was SOOO DRY. Soo absolutely bland, and dry. Dry chicken is extremely off putting and hard to swallow. Turned off ever eating chicken here again and it's a chicken establishment who's main pull is absolutely their chicken. The chunks were better, but with no sauce to dip in I'm glad I went home so I had some to use. They were a tad dry but nothing like the dark meat chicken. They were not the biggest chicken chunks and honestly? Canes chicken is superior in every way but sadly we don't have one in town. I guess it was just extremely disappointing especially compared to other competitors (that we sadly don't have in town) I dunno. I guess if you like really extremely pricey dry chicken this is the place for you. I honestly just could not believe how much their chicken was, I guess I'm a cheapskate but I can get 2 chicken fingers and a sauce at Canes for under $5 and it's always fresh and delicious. The ladies working however were angels and it's definitely not their fault the chicken was bland and dry. (And the pricing isn't their fault either of coarse!) I gave this 2 stars because the ladies who waited on us deserve one extra star. read more

Won't be going back to chandler location. Payed $10 for my food a 3 piece chunk and all chunk are barely the size of my pinky finger. Total rip off. read more

Charlie's Chicken - a hand holding a piece of fried chicken - Chicken Shop Near Me - Muskogee, Oklahoma

Ok haven't said a word past few times but getting sick of this. Teach your workers the difference between dark meat and white!!!! I always get one piece breast meal and always get a thigh. Done arguing and going there read more

The Charlie's on this side of town is great but always so busy. The dumplings could use a little work.

My husband and I ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, okra and a roll. I'm not sure what the chicken fried steak was. It was definitely not steak. The potatoes and okra were cold. The roll was good. We definitely wasted our money and the few calories we consumed. read more

Three strikes. First try, lunch chicken and dumplings. Gummy and flavorless. Second try, chicken meal, to go. Gravy was terribly gunky and chicken was terribly greasy. Third time, rotisserie chicken meal. I think I got jerky! Dry chicken! Finally, not coming back. Bummer! I spent good money for three strikes. read more

Charlie's Chicken is a great family place, and I love most of the locations. Except this one. Sub par by far. This one disappointed me b/c it was a newer looking store. I walked in before the lunch rush with no one in line, but was rushed like the line was going out the door. I ordered what I like to get. The three chunk dinner. This comes with three chunks of chicken, two sides, a roll and drink. When I ordered it, the lady decided to pick my sides for me and I had to remind her that I was the one eating, not her. She didn't seem to like my choices(probably b/c she had to walk a whole two feet). I don't care if its lunch line style fast food, I want to able to pick my food and not feel like I am at fault for doing so. What saved this place was the always reliable food. Always good. They also had a flat screen with ESPN up in the corner which is always a nice plus. Charlie's Chicken is a great chain, but don't go in this one anytime near peak hours. read more

I've been to the Charlie's in Sallisaw, so I had high expectations. I love spicy food And have a high tolerance. I decided to try the spicy chunks with fried jalapeños. They were over done and cold as were the jalapeños. The coleslaw tasted fresh, and I thought the beans tasted good as well. Tangy and spicy, but immediately my stomach warned me to stop eating the beans. The girls behind the counter were very involved in conversation, despite the fact that customers were within earshot. It seemed gossipy and unnecessary while serving customers. Mediocre food can always be made better with fantastic service, So they missed the mark there and the three of them standing around talking and leaving dirty plates on the table next to me was also unappealing. I will continue to frequent the Sallisaw Charlie's. Next time I go for lab work in Muskogee I'm going to try A different eatery. read more

This is a great economical family place with great atmosphere! Charlie is very generous and supports the community in a BIG way as you can see by the plaques on the wall! God bless Charlie! read more

Charlie's Chicken - We love Charlie's!!! - Chicken Shop Near Me - Muskogee, Oklahoma

See all

CLOSED? Today is 7/6/2016 I went to this place for lunch. Its close by and decent chicken. I get there and the signs all say CLOSED til 7/11!!! Really what kind of fast food place closes for vacation? It left me asking: do they not trust their staff? What happens to the wages of the staff, do they not get paid? It also left me going elsewhere along with many others who got there and saw the same signs. Huge loss of business. I know if I can not go to a place and find them open during normal business hours I simply stop going. read more

Charlie's is a run of the mill chicken place. The food is by no means bad but it's not anything you'll be remembering next week. The employees are nice and it's wonderful to support a local business but believe me, you will be supporting them because they are awfully expensive. Expect to pay 32+ dollars for a 12pc meal. read more
