I took my motorcoach to Charlie's Service Center for a roof reseal and leak repair, and other services. Before bringing it in, I sent them a video showing a minor leak (clear water dripping about once every 5-7 seconds). I was told the entire roof was resealed and the leak was fixed. After pickup, the leak became significantly worse and caused interior damage. I made a second trip (230 miles each way) to have it corrected. During that visit, I was told they identified the issue near the A/C, fixed it, and water tested it with no leaks. When picking up after the second visit, Justin, the manager, went over the coach. I observed brown water dripping from a vent, and more water came out when touched. I was told it was "residual from testing." After that visit, a storm came through and within hours gallons of water entered the coach. The condition became significantly worse following both service visits. An inspection by an insurance adjuster specializing in RVs identified multiple areas that were not sealed, and in other areas, old sealant was not removed before new sealant was applied. During the second visit, the automatic roof vent was sealed to the roof, which caused the mechanism to bind and fail. I documented the condition after the first visit and, despite clear concerns with the initial workmanship, made a second trip after being assured a senior technician would address the issues. I returned the coach to allow the work to be corrected, but the condition was not remedied and instead worsened. To date, Charlie's Service Center and its insurer, Auto-Owners, have denied liability on all issues, issuing standard written claim denials. I strongly recommend, if you must use Charlies, documenting your coach with photos and video before service--even small details like interior components--and thoroughly inspecting all work before leaving. read more

We had many issues with Charlies. To start with we made an appointment for our RV over a month in advance. They didn't even look at it for two weeks after our appointment date We brought our coach in for multiple reasons. One was to have our TV Lift serviced. They had dis-assembled and misdiagnosed the problem with our lift previously. I researched and had to prove to them that the motor that they diagnosed as no longer working was in fact working perfectly. During this visit they hypothesized that there is an intermittent electrical problem. In the process of re-assembling the unit (which should not have been dis-assembled in the first place.) they destroyed the trim (see pic below). I'll need to have this re-done by a competent shop. When confronted with their incompetence they were adamant that I pay for their time. We basically paid $613 to have the trim on our lift wrecked. We had also wanted one of our slides to be serviced since it wasn't smoothing tracking. They claimed that all it needed was lubricating, it still is not tracking properly. On top of all this they left debris in the coach and stains on the carpet. Don't believe the reviews about reasonable prices, they are crazy expensive charging $175/hour. I had them quote an oil change and to install an Air Force Braking system in our Jeep. We were able to have that work done at half the cost Charlies wanted to charge us. Stay Away!!! read more

I have to say that it was very stressful. We were looking for a great shop to repair our Motor home damage from the weather. When i called this shop to see if they could help us with the repair. The lady that answered was nice, but the whole thing was crazy and stressful. They had our motor home for 5 weeks. I feel like when i called to check on the status of the repair they wasn't able to answer, and she always had to call me back. I told her how bad Camping World was two years ago with us, and they had our motor home for 6 weeks. I was hoping that they would of been better. Had a/c work done it was not done properly I was charged almost $300 and it didn't work right when I got it back. Ended up going elsewhere turned out they had clogged up my a/c system and ruined my compressor to boot which cost me another $200 to get it working again. William Y On a recent trip our refrigerator would not work on electric. I call and got an appointment and they found the problem, worked with our warranty to get both heating elements replaced (not just the bad one). When the parts came in they worked around our trip plans and we came back for the final repair. Everyone there were sincerely interested in getting us back on the road with as little inconvenience as possible. My fault for going to this place. It appears I'm not the only one that has the problem here. They had my motorhome for 28 days never started work on it. Never heard from them unless I initiated the call. And nobody could ever give me an update when I did call well it's no wonder because they never did any work on it. They do however go dragracing on the weekend and hunting on others. I totally believe everybody deserves a vacation but then don't accept the work if you can't handle the load. We were travelling Phoenix to Alberta, initially called about dash ac on our older CC Magna, first they were kind to squeeze us in on the day we travelled through, a part was required they told me they would order and have on way home. We called thought to be there on a Monday but arrived earlier on Thursday, we let them know Wednesday and they once again squeezed us in so we could get back on road Justin who I found out took over from his dad Charlie is a remarkable technician I am sure his dad is proud from heaven. Just picked up my motorhome. They had it for three weeks and it is still not fixed. My a/c is not charged (they had to undo a/c lines to fix my problem), and my hood lock is broken (which was not broken before), and can you say greasy hand prints, greasy footprints, greasy everything!!! My repair was not cheap! Even so, wether I paid $15 or $1500, I should not have to take my motorhome to be detailed and have the carpets cleaned after they (did not) finish the job! Now I am wondering if some of the maintenance work they performed, along with the repair, was done properly. I called to address my concerns and was told someone would call me right back. I never received a return call. Needless to say - I will not be back. read more

I do not recommend Charlie's, here's why: I had the transfer case on my chevy suburban replaced at Charlie's for about $1800. This price included an 18-month warranty. So one year later, when the transfer case was getting stuck in 4x4-low I brought it back. Charlie's said that the spare tire (installed on the rear axle) was causing the issue. So I replaced the spare with the original tire and still had the same problem, the transfer case getting stuck in 4x4-low almost constantly. Frustrated, I returned the truck to once again be diagnosed. This time the problem was troubleshot to the transfer case encoder motor, which basically shifts the transfer case into whatever gear is selected on the control buttons. Charlie's quoted this as a $700 repair. OF COURSE even though this part is in fact installed on the transfer case, it was not covered by the transfer case warranty that I paid extra for. OF COURSE this problem was not diagnosed correctly on the first visit despite the presence of specific diagnostic trouble codes indicating the failed encoder motor. OF COURSE there was another diagnostic fee tacked on to ensure the shop gets paid regardless of quality of work. OF COURSE a new encoder motor only costs $185 at Crabtree Auto in Riverdale. I researched the issue further and found that most encoder motor failures are caused by a bad sensor which costs only $84 plus-tax just up the road at Advance Auto Parts. It is also available from online retaiIers for $50-$70. I even found a few instructional tutorials online which explained the sensor replacement procedure. I informed Charlie's of my findings and asked them how much it would be to replace just the sensor. They said that according to their technician the encoder motor was not a serviceable part, and that the only option was the $700 fix previously discussed. So I paid their diagnostic fee, picked up the suburban and the sensor, and replaced it in my driveway in less than two hours with very basic hand tools. From this I have learned that Charlie's will do EVERYTHING it can to charge you the diagnostic fee, their technician's troubleshooting skills have much room for improvement, and they will ensure that your parts are NOT covered by the warranty. Moreover, their critical lack of knowledge regarding which parts are available for very common vehicles could end up costing YOU hundreds of dollars. In hindsight, I have to wonder how many customers don't cross-check what Charlie's says and just pay whatever they are told to. Seriously disappointing experience with this shop. read more

Had my serpentine belt replace in Feb '17, belt was still squealing so I called back 2 weeks later and asked if i could bring my car in and have someone look at it. They said yes. More than 2 hours later the belt was replaced. The next morning, I start my car and it sounded like the belt was hitting against something. Didn't sound normal but I went to work. I'm leaving work and something snaps! Lost power steering, battery light turned on, car started overheating, alarms were going off in the car. I call Charlie's, told them who I was, something snapped I'm on my way! They said bring it in. When i arrived i looked under my car, the belt was hanging from the car and fluid was leaking. I went to talk to the owner who was working on a RV outside but his wife intercepted me. I guess I couldn't speak directly to the person who worked on my car. I wasn't really upset yet until the wife tried to "resolve" things. She should've stayed in the office and let me tell the mechanic what happened. Nope! Too much like common sense. She's telling me to come in the office so she can help me with my car. Instead of the owner's wife pulling up my information before I got there because I called and told them who I was, she proceeded to ask my name, ect. Fine. But while I was trying to give her my information she's talking to another lady trying to find my account as I'm talking to her! That upset me so I stopped talking and walked away. Her response to me walking away she said "let me go get my husband because this isn't working"! Right bitch it's not! I went outside and took a video of my car and charlie's lost a customer after that. I told Justin (the owner) I won't ever come back. I paid for 2 pullies and some labor for the belt to be fixed and the wife didn't even apologize about the events that took place or thank me because I still gave them business once again. Of course I'm going to be frustrated but she can't react poorly with customers when their frustrated! She could've handled the issue tactfully. read more
