Had a great experience with this company. We had walked for a little too long. We happened upon these rickshaws on our way out of our hotel. Maddie gave us a ride to our first stop, couldn't expect a more friendly person. She told us all about where we were going and what to expect. There are two Pedicab/Rickshaw Tricycle Taxi Services in Charleston and both are great. I took the Charleston Rickshaw Co. from their stand at the outdoor market downtown to our hotel at Marion Square as I was in a hurry and this was clearly faster than waiting for the free shuttle bus. The cost for one person (just me) was only $5.50 and it took only 10 minutes for the driver to make the drive. the driver was friendly and it was a very pleasant way to go. A not-to-be-missed aspect of any tourist's visit to Charleston is to take the Rickshaw Taxi! So much fun. read more

We waited over 20 minutes after being told it would only be 5-10 minutes. Once she arrived we were told price was $14 for 10 minutes. Driver took a longer route than necessary but told us it was for safety reasons. She was the slowest driver, other rickshaws kept passing us. The ride ended up costing $39 for about 3 miles. Driver didn't provide any commentary along the way. Very disappointed. Should have used Uber. read more

Called Charleston Rickshaw for a 4:50pm pickup at our hotel. Was told they could do 4:30pm or 5:10pm but nothing in between because they change shifts at 5:00pm. No explanation given why they don't stagger shifts so all time slots are covered. So we opted for 4:30pm pickup. The driver never showed up. We called back and dispatch said they will get someone there right away or they would call me back. Waited. Waited. No driver. No call back. So we called them again and got the shift change story again. Called one of their competitors. Driver showed up promptly. Had a delightful ride and got to our restaurant destination in time. Will never use Charleston Rickshaw again. read more

Boarding a Charleston Richshaw Co. pedicab for a nice, breezy, leisurely ride through the city was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Charleston. Our pedicab driver was very informative and helpful. Seeing that we had a party of four when her rickshaw could only accommodate three at most, she called for backup, and he showed up really quickly. In our journey through the city, the friendly driver told us about things to see and do, from a local's perspective, and also endorsed some more touristy places, too. She suggested we check out Wicked Charleston, a special tour that features all the untold historical scandals of the southern city. We didn't have the chance to, but that was a nice tidbit. We'll definitely consider for our next vacation there! The price is right. A ride is $5.50 per person. I neglected to ask how much distance they can cover and how that may affect the fare, but I assume the price difference would be nominal...There's no gas involved, just a fit biker's two legs wheeling you through cobblestone streets and navigating sharp turns as well as bypassing horse-drawn carriages. Our drivers (took two trips) seemed very knowledgeable of every street, alley, and shortcut. They also seem to have good working relationships with other vendors, which makes things like maneuvering past a carriage full of tourists much, much easier. Riding a rickshaw is also a great relief if your feet are begging for a break. And it also happens to be one of the quickest and most scenic ways to get around in Charleston. When I return, I will definitely take advantage of this great service again. Highly recommended. read more

We had a wonderful experience working with Charleston Rickshaw! They provided our wedding 'getaway' on their wedding themed rickshaw - which was perfectly decorated and festive. Despite it raining earlier in the evening, they still agreed to pick us up at the end of our reception and cruise us around downtown Charleston while we caught our breath after the wedding. Rickshaw driver from this company ran into the rear and side of my vehicle while I was at a complete stop! There were 2 passengers on the rickshaw, who luckily did not get hurt. I wish I could say the same for my vehicle!!!!!!!!!! The driver, who was clearly at fault, was very rude and inconsiderate! While attached to my vehicle he started making excuses that the rickshaw's are difficult to stop. No apology given! Owners asked me to not go through their insurance company and promised to pay for my vehicle repairs. I agreed. After receiving my quote, I was informed that it was too high and they would only pay to fix my taillight. Never mind any of the other damage. Wow! Horrible experience dealing with this company! read more
