I'll start with saying I miss my favorite salon, Oxenrose, in San Francisco! After trying several different salons in London, Charles Worthington comes the closest to delivering the goods but still falls short. My overall impression is that there are a lot of people fussing about, but the substance is a bit lacking. Sure, it's nice to have any refreshment you want from champagne to bite size chunks of fruit on a stick topped up during your stay for £3. But what I really want is a really good stylist who engages with me about what cuts interest me, gives tips on what would look good and surprises me by getting it just right. The reality is I leave with pretty good color, a tummy full of bubbly and salted nuts and disappointment that my cut isn't that exciting. I also don't love the chain store feel it has. They only have a few locations, but getting a bag stuffed with thick stock cards asking me to recommend a friend and sign up for their member's club leave the wrong impression. I'd like to feel like I just struck gold with the most original salon that gave me the most original cut and color. Not quite. read more

Recommended by a friend, I am certainly glad that I took them up on it. I have always enjoyed my trips here, as they make you feel truly fabulous from the moment you walk in. Everyone is super friendly and the environment is chilled, yet that super trendy that you expect of a London salon, without any of the pretence. And if you decide you go, I highly recommend Fiona!! Wow! I visited the Covent Garden salon for the first time about a week ago, after seeing some of the salons amazing work through their Instagram... I've wanted to go for a colour change for a while now and after some convincing from friends I thought this summer would be the perfect time to just go for it! I booked a consultation, where my stylist did a full consultation with me and talked me through the whole procedure in which it would take to get my hair how I wanted it. The salon team were friendly and professional, and I felt very welcomed from the moment I stepped through the door. I am super happy with my colour and its better than I ever dreamt of! I cannot recommend Charles Worthington enough and I'm looking forward to going back into the salon in a few weeks for my tone and blow dry appointment. read more

Holy wow this place is nice! It really has the feel of a very upper class salon. You're treated as a queen from the minute you arrive. You're given a drink and there is a MENU! I've never been to a salon with menu with different drinks and food! Impressive. The salon goes over more than one floor and everything is very logically organised. Incredible service and stylists- just don't go as a walk-in! Every time I fly in from the states for business in London I get a blow dry here and it always super fast and lasts for an entire week- really fantastic. Today I popped in as a walk-in (on a Sunday) and got one of the worst blow drys ever. My hair is still frizzy on the ends and I had to ask her to dry it more because my scalp was completely damp after she said she was finished. Please go, but don't do what I did and go in without an appointment. read more

I read an article online about the colouring services at Charles Worthington and it was too tempting to pass up, the write-up was incredible. Much to my delight, it was absolutely true and the praise was completely deserved. On the visit to check out the salon a Senior Stylist (Dani) came up and talked me through the types of services I should consider in order to get the finished result. She gave me recommendations for different people who would be tops for doing my hair based on finances (which I found incredibly thoughtful and kind - I'd asked, she didn't make me feel like I had to choose her because she'd spoken to me first). In the end, I booked with her suggestion, Adam (Adi). He was wonderful. I felt so completely at ease and he found the perfect colour for me - holding up charts to my face to catch the right tones of colour that would suit me best. He did an artist's job on putting in my balayage which resulted in THE most stunningly natural and gorgeous hair I've ever seen - I walked out with A-lister hair colour. He also talked through my cut and the goals that I had for where I wanted it to go. He did a wonderful job, my cut is superb. It has shape, movement and volume - I can go bang-on-trend or very classic in turn. He really nailed it. Dani, the stylist who originally made me feel so welcome, was also there working on the day of my cut. She remembered me and made me feel really special as a client. That was a particularly lovely moment - she'd recommended Adi and was genuinely happy to see me there - I'm overjoyed to have found Adam, but equally jealous of all of Dani's customers because she was so nice! In short, don't hesitate to book at this salon. My cut and colour both came out beyond fantastic, and the stylists were all so warm, genuine and talented - couldn't dream of a better place!! read more

Now that I've moved to Dublin City I cannot find a salon like Charles Worthington. I've been with this salon for way over 5 years and I've been to the different branches. In my opinion, Percy Street and The Broadgate Club (Liverpool St.) are the best. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the Covent Garden branch as the service wasn't great and they got my hair wrong. Joanne is the best. She always knows what I want. Listens to you and most importantly gives you that VIP experience and red carpet style hair. I always leave feeling glamorous and very satisfied. Only one snag, if you cancel on more than 2 occasions due to genuine circumstances no matter how long you've been a loyal customer for they give you a warning. It's a business and they care about sales not valued customers. So don't cancel here. They don't take it too well. Overall, the best expert hairdressers and 5 star treatment! read more

Went to CW Percy Street last Saturday, spent £175 on cut and colour, which I was pleased with.... then I was presented with my bill and got charged £2.50 for "refreshments" i.e. The cup of tea and glass of water I was offered when I walked in the salon! Since when does a top end hair salon charge you for a cuppa?? Not even my local independent salon would have the cheek to do that! This made me sick to the core and in principle I will not be going back! read more

I've been here 3 times in 1 week it's that good. They really listen and offer you honest advice. Great drinks and snacks for a £2 fee and feel truly pampered. Get your nails done at the same time. I had a cut and blow dry here five months ago. The cut was reasonable though nothing out of the ordinary that could have easily been done for half the price locally. Decided to give them another try as the location suited. This time I requested a girl ( the previous man talked about himself to much), but by the end of the session I came away feeling quite deflated, having spent £80 on a cut and blow dry. THAT is not cheap! She wasn't interested in listening to my requests, in the end I felt embarrassed to ask. But the most bizarre aspect of the appt , was half way through, when the previous guy that cut my hair appeared. I was in the basement, when he came downstairs,came up beside me to use the table whilst pretending to sort his brush kit. Within a couple of minutes he was back upstairs. I can only think he found out from reception I was a previous client of his so made an appearance as if to say ' I see your not using me'! Made me feel most uncomfortable. The basement in the House of CW is basic and quite depressing whilst upstairs is a modern salon at street level. I got a very mediocre cut for the price and none of the experience felt special. Highly overrated place that's living off its former reputation. Not WORTH the money! read more
