He also cuts my Mums hair and she travels from Surrey but won't go to anyone else. The salon staff are friendly and though everything from the music to the decor is supercool it is not intimidating. A haircut is a necessity but is also a pamper and this place is a short term escape. They say women are more loyal to their hairdressers than their husbands..... Sean Hanna is well worth a visit!

I don't know anyone in London to give me a recommendation so I researched salons looking for one that uses the Davines Product line because that was the last color used on my hair and I had the dye numbers. I also needed a salon I could reach using public transportation. The Bohemians Salon uses Davines exclusively and is just a block off the Deptford Bridge DLR stop. Voila! the perfect solution. The Bohemians website has an online appointment scheduler which I used to make appointments for myself and my husband for the same day. The scheduler worked very well and we received appointment confirmations within a few minutes. My appointment was with Lucca, who worked a major miracle on my fine, wavy, color-treated hair which was so dry, brassy and in generally poor condition that I believed I needed to cut several inches. Lucca is a talented technician and I felt comfortable that my hair was in great hands right from the start. Lucca asked me a few questions about the services I wanted and then laid out a plan to accomplish my wants. I have never felt as happy walking out of a salon as I did after Lucca completed my hair services. I loved having fresh color and losing the ragged ends but I really was completely thrilled with the finished style which had more volume, shine, and bounce than I imagined was possible. Altogether a fabulous experience, I have only good things to say!

I was a tad sceptical at £46 but thought screw it, highlights can be fixed easily, it's hardly a haircut. I went in on a Sunday and Jelena was my stylist. She was excellent! Did a great job with the highlights, made them nice and thin, made sure the colour matched the rest of my head. The young girl even gave me a free treatment. The owner was in the salon too, chatting away to everyone, telling us about his trip to Vegas. One thing to note, there are two small pug dogs in the salon but they stay out of the way and aren't smelly or anything. If you don't mind that, definitely check it out. I've already booked my next appointment.

Quite a long review, apologies!…read more This is my first time ever writing a review, which I hope goes to show how much I was not satisfied with my experiences at Hair and the City. While the woman who cut my hair was lovely, the standard of the salon and the way my hair now looks have made this one of the worst salon experiences I've had. I went to the salon recently on a LivingSocial voucher, which was for highlights, cut, conditioning treatment and blowdry. Perhaps it had to do with being on a voucher? Regardless, here is a list of what I experienced below: -When I got there, the salon was incredibly hot - and when I say hot, I mean BOILING - but because there were animals in the salon (that's right, a dog and some uncaged bird were sitting directly next to me the entire time I cut my hair. Is that even hygienic?!), they could not open any doors/windows. From that alone, I couldn't wait to leave the establishment; I couldn't even focus on what my hair looked like! -No music was playing the entire time - not a deal breaker, but again not the best experience. -After checking in with reception, I was not offered a drink or a magazine - and I was not offered either of these until about 45 MINUTES into my haircut. Certainly not standard in a salon experience. -The salon itself is quite dilapidated, with cracked mirrors (the mirrored area by my feet at the salon station was completely cracked but not taped over), cracked walls, dirty and with wires showing everywhere. -The woman who did my hair was lovely - very nice and we had a good briefing. We discussed giving me just a bit more than a trim and just maintaining my long layers. As for the highlights, we discussed a VERY subtle gradual lightening towards the bottom, with lighter ends blending in to my natural hair colour (what I already had, just maintained). -However, what I ended up with is bleach-blonde looking ends (my hair is light brown naturally) that begin half way up my head, with some parts higher than others. It's completely haphazard and very streaky. The actual cut, too, is no better; MUCH shorter than discussed and also very haphazardly cut. It's aged me by about 10 years and looks, for lack of better word, trashy. I now need to pay to have it redone to look a bit more professional and, well, normal! -The lighting in the salon made it very difficult to see at the time (it was lit by natural recessed lighting, which at 4pm is not very bright). I was also not offered a personal mirror to examine, so it was only what I could see from the large mirror in front of me. So, at the time, I couldn't tell just how streaky the colour was until I went home and could properly see. -Other notes: the 'conditioning treatment' offered in the voucher was actually the hairdresser spraying my hair with leave-in conditioner (I only realised this later when I queried with the salon how I was not given a conditioning treatment). -Hygiene concerns: the scissors she used were sitting on a towel COVERED in someone else's hair that were sitting there when I first came in (and thus I can only imagine were used on someone else). She dropped a comb a few times on the floor and would pick it up and use it in my hair again. Plus the animals out in the open with hair cuts happening. Maybe it was just me but I felt that a bit unhygienic. Needless to say, I have called and asked to have my hair fixed. I now need to spend ages commuting back into Greenwich (nowhere near where I live/work). While I think Hair and the City has great potential - and as I said, the woman who did my hair was lovely - this salon is in major need of some higher standards and better quality colours and cuts. Just be wary if you are going on a voucher.

I found A&H Beauty through a google search and took a risk mostly because they had photographs of their previous work online. Esther did my hair and she works quickly and is so good and cares about the quality of her work. Her salon is basic, but that's no big deal for braiding. She offers you hot and cold drinks and is so pleasant - I usually don't like to chat when getting my hair done but I was happy to chat to Esther. The main thing is the hair, three weeks on and the cornrows are still nice and neat and I've washed them every week. She asked me to drop the hair extensions round the day before my appointment to prep the hair and it was all ready and waiting so we could get going straight away on the day.

DAVID KAPEL HAIR…read moreREVIEW 1) I bought a voucher off of groupon for a choice of a brazilian keratin treatment, spanish straightening treatment, korean kee mee straightening treatment or japanese yuko straightening treatment. 2) I had long hair mid back length, coloured and which i had been straightening using the brazilian keratin and also straightening irons occasionally. Ends needed cutting but overall in pretty good condition considering it was coloured and straightened often. 3) I left the salon with COMPLETELY DAMAGED, OVERPROCESSED hair!!!! I ended up having to cut off at least 5 to 6 inches or more when i had planned on maintaing length and getting just 1 or 2 inches off that day! Didnt get it cut at this salon though I ran out when I saw the damage and went to a more trustwrothy salon.(which wont be named because im focusing on david kapel right now!) 4) I had gone in with hair that was wavy and my main concern was to cut down styling time and have straighter roots. I had planned to go for the japanese treatment on just my roots as I dont really like all my hair being straight just the roots but the hairdresser advised the spanish treatment and said it could be put through all my hair and wouldnt cause damage despite my hair being coloured while the japanese would. (I SHOULD NEVER HAVE TRUSTED HER!) not only did it damage my ends, it damaged my roots my hair is damaged so severely now, and after she washed out the treatment it was faling out in chunks, it was all crinkled up from being fried, and it felt spongy and sticky and was obviously overprocessed. I mentioned this to the woman and she said just 2 inches needed cutting off and it would be fine. (lies!) She denied that it was damaged and wouldnt listen to me. She kept viciously combing it and I just kept watching chunks of hair breaking off and falling to the floor. Im not sure if shes ignorant and didnt want to admit her mistake, or if she really knows that little about hair that she couldnt see it was overprocessed and damaged. Please please please STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON! I realise now it wasnt worth trying to save money by getting a discounted treatment, in the end I spent more buying deep conditioners and products in attempts to salvage what was left of my hair than i would have if I'd just gone to a good salon and gotten a good brazilian keratin treatment done. Id even rather have frizzy hair right now than what I've got, at least it would be long and healthy!!! I hope this helps at least one person from making the same mistake as me and if you have any more questions or want to see photos of the damage after and what my hair looked like before just message me(if thats possible on here?)
