I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Cary Family Dental, especially Dr. Wooten, has stayed on my mind, and I felt like I needed to share it. I switched from my previous dentist over 3 years ago. While the dental work was good, the experience had started to feel transactional, more focused on what else needed to be done and the cost rather than care and compassion. Every visit made me anxious. I always felt like I was getting a report card and somehow never getting an "A." Eventually, I just stopped going. And if you know me, that is SO unlike me. I'm a "get it done" kind of girl and pretty tough, but when it came to the dentist, I was over it. My husband and son had been going to Cary Family Dental for years and kept encouraging me to go. I finally made the call, and from that first appointment, it felt different. My hygienist, Melanie (I hope I got her name right! ), was amazing. She was thorough, caring, compassionate, and immediately put me at ease. She's also been with the practice for many years, which tells you something. Then I met Dr. Wooten, and I truly cannot say enough about him. Right before the 4th of July weekend, I needed a crown on a tricky back molar. After the office had closed for the holiday, my temporary crown came off. I called the emergency number expecting I'd probably have to deal with it until after the holiday. Dr. Wooten called me right back. He was literally about to leave town for his own holiday weekend, yet he came back to the office to redo my temporary crown because he didn't want it coming off again and ruining my weekend. I felt terrible that I was delaying his travel plans. He was only concerned about making sure I was okay. That is the difference between simply receiving dental care and feeling genuinely cared for. The following week, he placed my permanent crown with the same kindness and attention to detail. Do I suddenly LOVE going to the dentist? Let's not get carried away. I still have anxiety. But I know I'm walking into an office where I'm going to be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. After putting off the dentist for far too long, I finally feel like I've found "my people." Cary Family Dental is where my family goes, and now, very happily, it's where I go too. Dr. Wooten, thank you for going above and beyond when you absolutely didn't have to. It meant more than you probably realized.

She took her time and was thorough and it was just a great feeling overall. Dr. Lowery had the same vibe and took her time and explained everything. She was honest and open about my teeth and really made me feel good about my home care. Since it was my first appointment it ran a little long, so I had to schedule another appointment for a cleaning. But, I am so glad that I did as I will be able to come back and see their staff again. They are on their 3 or 4 dentist within the last several months. All of the hygienists from the previous owner has resigned. They were highly qualified/skilled hygienist and very professional. My first cleaning appointment was last week, and they were so kind to me and considerate of the fact that I'm 35 weeks pregnant. Normally they need OB clearance to do x-rays but they said it was no big deal that I didn't have that; we can just wait until the next checkup to do those since I'm due so soon. They also made sure to not lean the chair back to be too flat, which made it more comfortable for me. The receptionists were also very kind and polite, something I'm not used to anymore after living in the New England area for about 7 years. My appointment was with Dr. Howard and what a super nice and gentle dentist he is. Dr. Howard made me feel so welcome and he was so easy to talk to and didn't make me feel nervous a bit; and I'm usually very nervous going to the dentist. The entire staff were so friendly which is hard to come by these days. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Howard, you won't be sorry and you won't mind going to the dentist anymore!

I went to this practice after a family member recommended it. The initial evaluation and cleaning were good. However, the fillings were not. I had four fillings performed -- two front and two back -- and each of them had issues. One of the fillings on my front right side popped off a few weeks later, and when she fixed it, a chunk came out later that day while flossing. She never checked the contacts before I left, which left me with a broken filling and a gap that constantly trapped food. One of the back left fillings wasn't sealed properly and started to really hurt. When she redid it, the filling on the next tooth broke off and left a ledge. I never had a problem with that tooth before, but it eventually started to smell terrible when I flossed, and the floss kept breaking on the ledge. The dentist who fixed it confirmed that bacteria had gotten into the broken filling, causing the odor. The other fillings also caused the floss to tear and made flossing really unpleasant. I went back multiple times trying to resolve this and even brought my own dental materials since nothing was working. They never used them because of protocol, which I understand. When I asked the other attending dentist for a second opinion, I was told verbally that this was the best they could do and that I should just live with it. This conversation was never documented in my patient notes, as I later confirmed with the office manager. I ended up going to another dentist who fixed everything, but it cost me $1,200 out of pocket. The dentist who corrected the work told me directly that the filling material used was very cheap, that the work was substandard, and that I was ultimately taken advantage of. When I contacted the practice to resolve this privately, I was told it was my choice to seek care elsewhere, and that was the end of it. I'm very disappointed with the quality of work at Night and Day Dental and the way my concerns were dismissed at every turn. I would not recommend them to anyone who wants to take care of their teeth.

Being a Black male, that upset me, and I did not react at the moment, but after thinking about what she said and how she said it, it needed to be addressed. Because she is a medical professional, I would expect her to be a professional; shame on her. I've been there before, and the practice itself was great; the staff was great, from the receptionist to the young lady who prepared me for the unprofessional Dentist. One bad apple does not spoil the whole bunch, but she needed to be reminded that she is a professional and what comes out of her mouth has an impact. I really hope that the owners of the practice address this person and protect their good business. I'm not telling you not to go there, but if you do, I would only have professionals working on me.
