Molly exceeded my expectations and had a professional manner on the phone. My booking was easy, quick and stress-free. Lovely experience overall, and I am excited to stay!

I really think this hotel should be better than it is. I also think that it isn't a big ask to…read moreexpect it to be much better either. It's been many years since we've been here because we found the food fairly poor. We had no reason to go back until we booked massages in the rented out spa there via a Groupon deal. We arrived early so we decided to have coffee. I wouldn't order food. So I ordered a flat white and a cappuccino (£4.80) and I say with certainty that what I had served up was not a flat white. Not even close. It was poor tasting too. This is what I mean about my recall of my experience in this place time and again. I was hoping for a great tasting coffee. I had paid for a great tasting coffee. I wanted to be impressed but yet again they really just confirmed my old memory offering the least effort, with little attention to detail yet the maximum charge. The service was haphazard and somewhat slow. I wasn't offered a loyalty card despite them sitting on the counter. Mind you this place is open a long time and the reception area was full of customers so they aren't short of trade. Maybe that's why they are complacent. Finally as my iPhone was near out of power I asked at reception for the loan of a charger. I explained that we were there for massages and would be there at least two hours. The friendly receptionist said she had just one so I had to leave my phone at reception to be charged; it was like handing over a limb. I didn't want to do it but if I hadn't done so I'd be left with a phone with no power. Not surprisingly we are very unlikely to return at all.

This is about the bar food. My wife and I have stayed here a few times and we recalled that the bar…read morefood was fairly ok. So we went here and both of us had battered fish one with champ (mashed potatoes with spring onions) and one with chips (£8.50). Both were served with a smear of mushy peas and a small salad. The cod was superb, it was fresh and a good portion with a lovely light crisp batter. The mash was pretty good and while the chips were ok I suspect they are pre made and bought in. Really home made would have added a star. We had beer and a sparkling water. The service was ace and we had comfy seating. It's important to remember the price here as it's good value; I've been charged as much and sometimes more in a takeaway. Another tip; battered cod and chips with fino sherry is amazing. Try it sometime.

Am I being filmed??? This was my first impression of this…read moreplace, surely it was a setting for a remake of Fawlty towers.... Like nowhere else I have been (in this life, when i was a 1920s burlesque dancer in my previous life I would have frequented places like this all the time) Where can I begin, its a higgledy piggaldy mish mash of rooms added on to other rooms, hidden staircases, faux doors and a dizzying arrangement of floral patterns. Everywhere. I really mean everywhere, I cant imagine WHERE anyone would go during the last half century to get floral dinner ware. Food is like a seaside bed and breakfast, luke warm and miserable, service slow and not overly friendly. I would usually recommend this sort of place to Grannies and Granddads, but it doesn't even make it near the quality of a place that i would bring somebody i liked. Not to be repeated or recommended

We were told on the way in we could eat at the bar or restaurant, with a kid I wanted to eat in the restaurant. Went in to the restaurant and the lady tried to force us in to the bar. The food was nice enough. Good sized portions, tasty - mum loved her fish and chips. But after a lengthy wait to flag someone down for the child's ice cream and the bill I had to walk up and pay, child lost patience, not even the bribe of ice cream worked. Even when I checked out (at the front desk cause they only have one card reader) the girls had a talk between themselves and ignored me. Service and personality is everything. This place has none.

All very clean and tidy. Won't be reviewing the breakfast which is included in the price (£85 a night) as leaving early doors for work! Seems very quiet so should get a nice sleep! Also sat down for dinner. Menu is good with plenty of choice - all appealing. Quite pricey though. I went for the chicken balti which was good - plenty of veg and tonnes of chicken! Rice also good with a lime and pear chutney. Only let down was the naan which was very shop bought! On to pudding! I shared the apple creme brûlée with cinnamon doughnuts and caramel ice cream and the pecan and choco brownie with coulis and vanilla ice cream. Amazing and also massive portions I've come away completely full! Would recommend if have to stay in area but as on work trip and not much atmosphere couldn't give it more than 3*

Yesterday was a sad, sad day. A milestone in my dining…read moreexperiences. I still have not gotten over the shock of the whole thing.... ????? I WAS UNABLE TO FINISH MY MEAL HERE. Why, I hear you cry, poor food? Nope. Cold dinner? Nope. A bug in my spuds? Nope. You will never guess.... The portions were just too enormous even for a large bellied hippopotamus like me, actually I think the whole thing was a trick of some kind, conjuring gone haywire?? Maybe a fairytale like the magic porridge pot that kept overflowing with porridge...well the spuds just kept on coming, never in my greedy piggy wiggy life did I leave such a size of spuds left on my plate. Sob. Is it all over for me? Have I turned into one of those people who say 'Oh I just eat 2 squares of chocolate at a time'......2 SQUARES?? Feckin lunatics. This was a great dining experience, you had to wait just the right amount of time so you know the food if cooked fresh and it arrived in all its humongous glory well presented, hot and delicious. I had the salmon with champ, carrot and parsnip mash with garlic buttered prawns, very tasty indeed. The boss opted for the Downshire burger (half a cow) and chips with a massive pile of salad on the side. Phew! It was well worth the visit. The other BIG plus in my book is a clean bathroom, and this place had the wonderful aroma of mild bleach as soon as you open the bathroom door, this cannot be beaten in my book in public restrooms, cleanliness is next to Godliness my mum used to say (usually when scrubbing my two dirty paws with carbolic soap) A great spot for a meal, centrally located on the main Street in Banbridge and free parking behind.

The room rates were reasonable - i think it was about £80 per room. The bar and night club part of this hotel are very popular with the older 20 -30 year olds in this area. The nightclub is free entry before 11. The bar prices are reasonable and not really too different from anywhere else in the town. There are rarely special offers on alcohol. The food is also lovely, however the last time i had food here was about 2 years ago. Would recommend for a night out.
