I spent a couple of hours with friends old and new at the launch of Seasons Restaurant at The Balmoral Hotel. I can remember attending school functions here many moons ago!! My how the place has changed and is still undergoing a metamorphosis. On arrival we were greeted by a singer at the entrance and harpist in the foyer. We also had a choice of champagne, Moctail or sparkling water. In the newly kitted out 70 plus seater restaurant, we mingled and caught up with old friends and made some new ones. The odd celeb graced us with their presence like Tommy Bowe!! Loved the porcelain plate display depicting deer-in keeping with the "Seasons" theme of the restaurant. There was also a traditional Irish band playing. The menu was carefully devised by head chef Dave who hails from Cork. He has had tutelage from Paul Rankin in Roscoff and Michael Deane and now has the reins at Seasons. He had a range of canapés from the starter and main course menu. There was rancini, goats cheese, hake cakes, venison pie-my favourite!!, ham hock, duck and salmon. For dessert there was a selection of chocolate cake, shortbread, toffee sauce and chocolate balls. A perfect sweet selection. Our very own weather girl Cecelia Daly MC'd the speeches and first Mr Terence Brannigan from Tourism NI spoke then chef said a few words and Mairtin O Muilleoir wound up the formal proceedings. The investment in the Hotel is substantial and judging by the facilities and the restaurant and staff I am confident it will be a success. I would highly recommend you book a table in Seasons Restaurant because if the canapés are anything to go by the rest of the food will be of very high standards. Thank you Seasons for the invite!!

Where to begin with the Balmoral Hotel? OK, it's a hotel and has 42 rooms. For those just interested in a few pints, it has the affectionately titled Parlour bar. It's a small bar with the name referring to what used to be a small room, sort of like a sitting room I suppose. It's a bit of an awkward shape but it has a relaxed yet bustling sort of atmosphere - you can sit and have a quiet pint and take it easy, while the chatter in the background from other local patrons gives it that feel of a local pub. It also has a very nice decked patio. Then we have the Lady Anne Grill which has been a local favourite for years. Comfortable seating, spacious, relaxed, with some open booth to give a feeling of some privacy, while not being cut off from the other diners. It's a beautiful set-up, and the way the bar pleasingly curves in a convex manner to face the whole dining area gives the feeling of a much bigger, possibly grander, room. You can't go wrong in here with the peppered chicken or the lasagne served with garlic ciabatta bread and salad. The lasagne is always a hefty portion and tastes as lasagne should, and the garlic potatoes, are the perfect accompaniment. The menu isn't that big, and includes other favourites like burgers, fish, chicken curry, chicken stir fry, beef and guinness pie, but they do a good job with what they serve. Upstairs is the Glenriver restaurant where you can basically get everything that the Lady Anne serves, with the only real difference being that it serves steak and one or two other items that aren't available in the Lady Anne. The Glenriver is furnished in a more contemporary style, with those high-backed leather chairs, but I always prefer the more traditional style of places like the Lady Anne. There's quite a big bar in the next room to the Glenriver, that has a sort of lounge come reception area style to it, with comfortable seats and sofas and low tables, which is a great staging area if you're going to/coming from the restaurant, function room, or night club next to it. The night club part of it has entertainment from Friday to Sunday, with a quiz on a Wednesday. It's not the sort of night club n the traditional sense of a club in a city centre, but more of an evening entertainment venue with bands and the occasional DJ. Finally, (this place is big) is the function room/banquet venue - the Grand Ballroom. I was at a wedding here and they did an excellent job. I'm always interested to see how a venue handles feeding over 100 guests at the same time, and this place has it down to a fine art. The service and food were excellent - the Balmoral didn't miss a beat from start to finish. If I was doing this review on that wedding alone I would've rated it five stars. As it stands, a few minor minor niggles (like the restrictions of drinking in a small awkwardly shaped bar when it gets busy, or the slightly limited menu) prevent me from giving it five stars and saying 'as good ad it gets', but that phrase certainly applies to its execution of weddings.

Nothing i think, the place has no soul and the staff are extremely rude. Maybe new management could revive it but has a long way to go.

The location is perfect and within walking distance of a nice amount of stores and places to discover. I loved that I was able to see a beautiful church from my window and being able to open it slightly to allow the nice weather in was amazing as well! The hotel offers free water bottles (two) daily and the turn down service was amazing to have when we came back in after a night out having some amazing food. The prices for the hotel were pretty decent and the amenities I got from staying here were pretty nice as well! They offer breakfast buffet but it is on the higher end so I went to explore the local areas around the hotel! The place was super clean as well and everything was kept up to date and looking fresh! A wonderful hotel and one that I will be staying at again if I ever get the chance to visit Belfast again in the future!

I was born in Belfast and have never been back (I grew up in America). I was greeted with such warmth and friendliness by the staff here. My room was very trendy looking and comfortable. I wish I stayed here longer, but I was only in town for a couple of days. Some nice perks: The staff will call drivers to come pick you up and take you where you want to go. There is an umbrella in the room, which I ended up using because it was raining outside. The downstairs bar and eatery was amazing as well. I enjoyed the food and drinks. I took full advantage of the delicious room service for breakfast. I want to bring my husband here when I return to Belfast! Exceptional experience.

When we arrived at the apartment I was a little grossed out at the elevator and hallway, but it got worse when I walked into the apartment. Huge cobweb over one of the beds. The bat h room had stains on wall, dented bathtub surround, and possibly mold around the bath/shower. I immediately started looking for other accommodations. I went to front desk who showed me two separate rooms which I didn't find much better than the apartment. The clerk was not about to lose the reservation so we ended up getting two executive rooms which were adjoining rooms. It was better than its other options there, but still had issues. Water stains on ceiling, tiles on shower stall missing, hole in bathroom wall (I stuffed it with tissue). Best if all I had numerous guests which came into my room and died. Moths were coming in from the air vent (I think). The only reason for 2 stars is the staff seemed very nice. I would not go there again. They did give me the same price for the 2 rooms which was much appreciated.

The building is located near a small cluster of pubs, restaurants and fast food outlets. Check in was not the best... After driving for several hours to Belfast and arriving late-ish and hungry the gentleman manning the reception didn't greet us with a smile and chose to take an incoming phone call prior to giving us our keycard. Understandable that at that time the reception is only manned by one person but placing the caller on hold for a few moments to see us sorted wouldn't hurt. Being the first impression for the property its ultimately important (and hardly expensive) for the receptionist to smile for guests. I did however manage to get half a smile out the man the next morning. The common areas of the hotel appeared to be more recently updated than the rooms and corridors, however many furnishings were worn. The corridor could do with a lick of paint and renewed carpet as the existing fittings are well worn/marked. Room furnishings were a bit plain and not like those advertised on the website. Beds were comfortable. No air conditioning (in our room anyway) - not a problem in December but consider this if you are staying over summer. The bathroom was fine, with a good strong shower. The water saving tap on the sink was a bit ridiculous as you need to run the tap for about a minute for the water to get warm. Breakfast included the usual hot options of full Irish with cereal, yoghurt, fruits and breads. Tea and brewed coffee supplied to the table by friendly staff. Overall an OK stay, the property could do well to make some updates to furnishings, and perhaps some extra training for one of the reception staff. Parking is 5 quid overnight which is a bit much considering street parking is available all around - however we were given free parking validation on checkout which was a nice gesture. Free WiFi is also available and was accessible from the rooms as well as the common areas, with the occasional drop out. I've stayed in much better 4-star hotels elsewhere so the money I would probably try somewhere else next time to Belfast.

Having lived in Belfast for all my life, but never having actually been in to this hotel, I…read morerecently went for a work function, and really liked it. It's a lot bigger inside than you realise, with various function rooms and an expansive lounge and bar/restaurant area, serving those staying in the hotel, and business folks and travellers passing through. The reception staff were very helpful, and the function I attended was well sign-posted and easy to find - there was a constant supply of tea and coffee, pastries and muffins, as well as orange juice and water. The food we had was lovely too, piping hot and tasty, and we were given a full three courses for lunch - unusual for an event like that, I thought. All in all, the hotel is pleasant and inviting and seems well run and professional. I can't speak for the hotel rooms, but the main areas of the hotel were all clean and well-maintained. There is plenty of parking for patrons also.

But it was such a small room the beds were too close together and we had to walk sideways in between the beds. There was no dresser so we had to live out of a suitcase on the floor for a week. The walk in shower was nice with a rain shower and separate handheld. The water temperature was super hot. Way too hot and room would fog up. Because the shower is open to the door, the door had major water damage and was swollen and couldn't be closed all the way. The door jam was also had water damage. Aesthetically unappealing. The restaurant was very nice and the food was good. The staff were super nice about food orders. Enjoyed the meals. Some of the staff (front desk, restaurant and housekeeping) were very nice and others not as much. But overall the nice staff outweighed the not as nice staff.
