I will post this review on Friday We got married in la mon 18th of may this year and this is our honest review. We siged upto our wedding just before christmas, so not to long to prepare. Our wedding co-ordinator was friendly and helpful on the day, offered us a free coffee ect. Importantly to us, we asked will there be any better deals in the new year and if there would be any discounts at the upcoming wedding fair. We where told there is no new packages and they do not offer any offers on the wedding fairs. This was false information givin to us, as there was a new package and a promotion for signing up on the day of the wedding fair. We did however change our package (this was before the wedding fair) And made to think to we where lucky because they did a midweek package (Monday-Wednesday) for us on a Thursday. They kept repeating this. However the discounted package included Thursday's anyway so this was irrelevant. They offered a package for £40. Ours was £61 Basing this on 60 guests is a difference of £1200. Only difference for us was that you don't get the limos included? So that was a big price difference, felt like the robbed us. Then on the day of the wedding fair they had freebies for booking on the day, a choice of 2 free rooms... Or menu upgrade to trio of deserts. As mentioned above, we where told they dont offer discounts at wedding fairs. This blatant lie ruined the build up to the wedding and sucked the fun out of it. It was also really annoying we needed to get the insurance liability certificates sent over to them... Alot of experienced vendors said they they have not had to do this for any other venue. Moving onto the day of the wedding. Credit where credit is due, went without a hitch (except food) All our vendors had no issues in the day and both co ordinator and master of ceremonies did everything as instructed. The big let down was the food. We paid an extra £3 for roast beef per head. (£180) just to have the choice alone. Then £3 for everyone who selected roast beef. THE ROAST BEEF WAS HORRIBLE. i remember looking along the tables to see no1 eating this... I wish i was being dramatic, but the quality was so poor. On par with supermarket beef. 1 scoop of mash.. Toddler size. And the veg was not cooked great either. I asked alot of guests about the beef also and all agreed it was rubbish and so tough. Anyone who had the chicken seemed to enjoy the meal though. Me and the wife who spent thousands for this dinner... Did not eat it. La mon should refund me all roast beef upgrades due to the lack of quality as most restaurants would do... However because of how they lied to me about the wedding fair promotions... I'm not going to hold my breath. (i will update this review should they hold their hands up) We also asked for kids cheese pizza and they served pepperoni pizza.. Kids didn't eat there pizza either. Also sent pizza to a child that had severe allergys la mon were told that he had allergys prior. On the day there was one thing that angered me. During the time we are asked to leave the room while they "flip the room" I took my drink upto the room to put our 2 year old to sleep. There was a lady standing by the door on some kind of massive power trip? She had 3 of my guests sitting in a hallway drinking there drink (one of which was disabled, then said to all of us about not allowing drink into the rooms or out of the rooms. (drink i bought at the bar) I get the reason why. But then i was threatened that the bar will be closed if any guests have drink upto or down from the room. What a great touch and amazing thing to say to someone who just spent thousands on food and room hires and filled 13 other bedrooms for you and im sure made the bars a few thousand. Thats one of the most unprofessional people i have come across im assuming that she may hold a managers position. Our bridal suite was lovely to be fair.. Comy bed We ordered room service.. And offcourse, it was a stone cold breakfast!! If you love a headache, bad food, power tripping managers. And cold breakfast And dont mind being lied to about offers...... Then la mon is the best venue around. Shout out to chris our master of ceremonies though, he was awsome on the day!

Wanting to make the most of our stay, we left our things off in the room and made our way straight to the bar for a liquid lunch! The drinks at the bar were reasonably priced and it was lovely to be able to sit there and relax. We didn't order anything from the menu when we were there as we'd had a large lunch before we arrived, however we did take a look at it, and there was loads on offer and it sounded lovely. I saw a lot of food going past for other tables, which looked and smelled fantastic. I also saw a number of people having afternoon tea which looked really posh, I will definitely try that next time! The room we were staying in wasn't like the rest of the hotel, which is super stylish and classy - I will admit that it was a bit dated, but it did the job, it had everything I would have expected and the beds were really comfortable. We did have an issue when we stayed, where we were woken up by noise during the night due to a malfunction with the heating system, however when we reported this, the management at La Mon really went above and beyond in their response and to resolve this with us - we were really impressed! Last but not least, we had breakfast before we left the following morning. Usually I'm not overly excited about hotel breakfasts. This however was nothing like I'd ever had before, the cooked breakfast, which was served as a buffet, was cooked to perfection, with free range eggs, and good quality meat. Oh, and proper baked beans! This is unheard of for hotel cooked breakfasts. It was so good, I had to go up for seconds to make sure I wasn't imagining it :) Very much looking forward to returning to La Mon soon.

They seem to go for quantity rather not than quality. I was really impressed by this spread of canapes at a charity event I was at. That and the fancy set up made everyone feel very appreciated. The staff are very helpful. The car park is a let down. Being on a hill is not good when in heels or if you are elderly or have a disability.

I would highly recommend The Stormont for any business that want host a professional event. The conference facilities are excellent, I was attending an event with Invest NI and we were treated to nothing but exceptional service from all the staff. The sweet bowls and water bottles table were kept filled at all times - it's the small things you remember and these little things could help to keep your customers happy or gain you extra orders! Having everything (Rooms, conference facilities, Restaurant, huge car park and Gym) in one place also is a huge benefit as it cuts down on the logistical nightmare for event attendees and hosts. The scenery isn't bad either - a five minute walk from Stormont Park and Parliament buildings - two great photo opportunities for visitors

I was a little apprehensive about the service we would get as in the past it was never known as an upmarket hotel, but everything was spot on and indeed it now has 4 stars. The staff went out of their way to help us set up our conference rooms, ran and got anything we needed and made sure that all the catering was exactly on time. I stayed the night before the conference and my room was really nice - plenty of room, TV and better than average furniture, bathroom and bedding. Much better than I was expecting. Breakfast the next morning was tasty and nicely presented and the Ulster Fry was grease free. Morning and afternoon breaks and lunches were good too. - freshly cooked tasty food, and lots of it. Afternoon break included fresh cream pastries which went down very well too. The Park Avenue is a lovely hotel where the staff deliver excellent service. The weekend break at £90 per person for 2 nights, breakfast and 1 dinner is outstanding value so give it a go.

For context the restaurant was fairly empty, ( I can now understand why). I was seated in a dirty chair. I ordered a drink which arrived in a dirty glass. I complained about the glass and my coke was promptly returned in a clean glass (so promptly I was suspicious that the original drink was just decanted into another glass). The waiting staff were lovely, but the food service was agonisingly slow given the empty restaurant. The meal was okay, however the dessert of Banoffee was hard and unappetising. The coffee I ordered with it was served in a cracked cup. I only noticed it after I had drunk the coffee (gross). I complained regarding this and requested that these items were removed from the bill. I have never complained online about a restaurant and it's testament to how bad the experience was that I have taken the time to let others know that this is not the place for a celebration.

So we waited in the lounge for 30 minutes before finding out that it was another guest's son. We had to guess which room was ours so we took an empty one. We were told that the owner would be there at 1830, we waited and they didn't show up. The next morning we were awoken by a shrill fire alarm that lasted a good five minutes. When we went to shower the bath was filled with pubic hair as was the floor. To make things worse we were charged with a £30 cleaning bill and not even our room was cleaned. The kitchen smelt of out of date cheese. It was so bad we couldn't even make tea. We were told that there was a hair dryer, but it was one hair dryer for the whole hotel. It also smelt of burnt rubber when turned on and kept turning off on its own. The wardrobe was fragile that we couldn't use it. As for the location it was in a run down part of Belfast and was 30 minutes walk from the city centre. Additionally it was in an extremely loyalist neighbourhood. I personally do not care about this but it bothered my boyfriend as he is a catholic. As for the bill, it was just as expensive as going to an actual hotel in the city centre so in future we will go there and I advise you to do this as well.
