Took my mum here to the restaurant after she had a scan at the hospital. I asked for the littles…read morefood to come out first - came out last. Service was slow, and bordering on rude. We were told on the way in we could eat at the bar or restaurant, with a kid I wanted to eat in the restaurant. Went in to the restaurant and the lady tried to force us in to the bar. The food was nice enough. Good sized portions, tasty - mum loved her fish and chips. But after a lengthy wait to flag someone down for the child's ice cream and the bill I had to walk up and pay, child lost patience, not even the bribe of ice cream worked. Even when I checked out (at the front desk cause they only have one card reader) the girls had a talk between themselves and ignored me. Service and personality is everything. This place has none.

Not a bad hotel! On arrival the receptionist was a little off-ish (doesn't quite have the…read morepersonality for front of house) but rooms are spacious, with big comfy beds. All very clean and tidy. Won't be reviewing the breakfast which is included in the price (£85 a night) as leaving early doors for work! Seems very quiet so should get a nice sleep! Also sat down for dinner. Menu is good with plenty of choice - all appealing. Quite pricey though. I went for the chicken balti which was good - plenty of veg and tonnes of chicken! Rice also good with a lime and pear chutney. Only let down was the naan which was very shop bought! On to pudding! I shared the apple creme brûlée with cinnamon doughnuts and caramel ice cream and the pecan and choco brownie with coulis and vanilla ice cream. Amazing and also massive portions I've come away completely full! Would recommend if have to stay in area but as on work trip and not much atmosphere couldn't give it more than 3*

What a wonderful hotel!! The staff is excellent - welcoming, helpful, cheerful. The list goes on…read more When we needed a taxi, they would call on our behalf. It didn't matter how many questions we asked or how many times we bothered them , they always responded kindly and professionally. When we came down late for breakfast, they sat us on the ground level and ordered upstairs and brought it down for us. Overall, a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this establishment

We were delighted to find that the Sunday carvery lunch has re started. It's been a long time since…read morewe were last there. We were brought to a table but still queued for our food. The food was quite good, but another £1 has been added to the cost (now £12) for a main course - probably to cover for the extra costs arising from Covid - and at £4.20 for a pint of Guinness and the VAT relief until January next - they might do well but price hikes are risky as customers may feel sore. A second lock down though would be disastrous. I hope now with Covid that the owners will very soon find a plumber to re - introduce hot water in the wash rooms and find an electrician to turn up the heat on the air hand driers. They might even have a word with the lady who dishes out the vegetables to be a little less mean with the portions, particularly with another quid being eked out as she's been tight fisted for a very long time now as I recall noting this in a review a year or more ago. The service was ace especially the staff who tend the tables they are all really a brilliant bunch. The servers make it 5 star, the food quality is three star, the extra £1 hasn't brought about any higher quality and the vegetable portions are two star so about 4 star on balance.
