A happy camper

I finally visited the famous Char-Grill while at the Ole Raleigh shopping center. Service here was excellent but the food wasn't impressive. I would think with the name " Char-Grill" the hot dogs would be grilled and not similar to that of being boiled. Disappointing. The fries & Cheerwine were excellent but that's all she wrote folks. Nothing to write home about. The

TLDR: They shorted me an order of Fries. Check your bag before leaving! I ordered online, which has a Combo Option: Burger, Fries, Drink. Added a few other things and a second order of fries. Seems like they aren't used to the online Combo because they only gave me one order of fries. They way the printed order displays is different than the regular slips they use for in-house orders, probably causing confusion with the cooks. The bun for my burger was wet and soggy. Notice how the Yelp rating for this specific Char-Grill location is at least a half star lower than the other locations? There's probably a good reason for that...

I got a cheeseburger without the bun and it was PERFECT!

My husband has been here a few times already after a co-worker (highly) recommended it. So we came here for Mother's Day dinner after playing at Laurel Hills playground. Seems like a simple old-fashioned burger joint. Menu is limited to burgers, dogs, grilled chicken sandwich, BBQ sandwich, fries and shakes. To order, you fill out an order slip and put it in a slot. Wait time was not too bad. Might have seemed longer to me because I had an antsy 18 month-old waiting with me. The food was great! My husband and I got burgers and our kids got hot dogs. The burgers were delicious! I didn't try a bite of hotdog- the neon red color kind of took me by surprise but the kids seemed to enjoy them. The fries were hot and crispy! For 4 meals, it was around $25! Not bad! We'll definitely return!!!

You can't even call in to check when they close because they leave the phone off the hook until closing time.

CowBar is a great option if you are ever craving a burger in the North Hills area. The burgers are…read moremassive and very juicy filled with high quality ingredients. Service could be better, but it's not bad. Decor and the bar were very cool and well designed parts of the restaurant. We ordered the Alabama Slammer and Classic Cheeseburger with truffle fries. We received regular fries at first, but were able to get what we originally ordered (truffle fries) after talking to the servers. If you order the truffle fries, make sure to grab a fork or extra napkins (or both)! Eating them gets real messy. Overall, a nice, casual burger spot in Raleigh with great fries.

Located in the newer section of North Hills, CowBar is a more sophisticated rendition of their Morgan Street Food Hall location. Very similar with maybe a few extras, you order up front, get a number, self-service soft drinks and condiments in the back and wait for you eats. Pick up your meal at the counter and it's time to eat! I did their popular truffle burger with fries Italiano and OMG! The burger was amazingly tender, rich and delicious. Tender grilled beef, smoky Gouda cheese, caramelized onions and truffle flavoring throughout. The skin-on fries with shaved parm, rosemary and garlic made for the perfect side. While the bar is not open yet, it looks like CowBar North Hills will have some beers and drinks to go with your burger. Overall I am super happy with what I experienced at CowBar. While the food is a touch pricey, it's totally worth the money and a better option to dine here, versus a crowded, noisy spot. Enjoy, Raleigh. You may have the best burger in the Triangle with CowBar!

We paid $17 before even stepping foot on site. Not the restaurants fault but something to note that affected the experience. I ordered the Italian fries, regular fries, and nuclear burger. The Italian fries are delicious! Would 100% go back for those. The regular fries were well done and crispy--very good in my opinion but not always everyone's cup of tea. The nuclear burger was decent--not worth the price in my opinion. While I loved the sriracha ketchup it was smothered in the patty itself was flavorless and left me wanting more. There were no other orders working or waiting, the staff was walking into the dining area and socializing. Eventually, someone else ordered and got their food while my food was still sitting there. Finally, somebody called me over and VERY awkwardly passed it over to me, extending the tray, then holding onto it and pulling it back some after I had my hands on it while looking into my eyes with a sad expression on their face. I felt like it was pretty ignorant. Overall, It was really disappointing and a little disturbing. This has been my total go-to spot for years, but I'm not interested in coming back after all of that. The food isn't THAT good, and this just ended a weird and distasteful night out at the Morgan Street Food Hall. Sorry, but No Thanks.
