I have enjoyed visiting chaps while in town visiting family for many years. I visited twice on this trip home to have meals and catch up with local friends. First day had blackened fish tacos. They were flavorful and good. Second visit was a 4pm visit. Very disappointed they didn't have happy hour. I still had a beer and salmon with double broccoli (no pilaf). It was all very good. Beer selection is great... but lacking happy hour, I was not enticed to relax for a second beer.

Food is above average. Nice clean place to hang and watch a game. Plenty of taps to keep a craft beer drinker interested, and a pretty good take out selection. One of my personal favorites in the area. Chaps is a place for good food, cold beer, sports tv plus family friendliness.

Nice size dive bar. They have a nice size menu and ample parking in their parking lot. I ordered only appetizers and they were all good. I tried my friend's wings with boom boom sauce and mozzarella sticks which were also tasty. I ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread and cheesesteak egg rolls. Although they were tasty, there could be some adjustments. The buffalo chicken flatbread could use more hot sauce and blue cheese/ranch. The cheesesteak rolls could also use more cheese. Service was excellent!

I placed an order over the phone for a large white seafood pizza - light on the spice. When I arrived, AN order was ready and when I went to pay she told be "$12.95". I knew that was not right so I asked. She said "yes - white pizza". I said "no" and restated the correct order. She spoke to a gentleman and he came and said "we can make a new one but it will take 15-17 minutes". I said "ok - fine". As I sat and waited, no one spoke to me or offered me an apology. When I was told the pizza was ready, the server verified I was a large white seafood light on the spice. I answered"yes. thank you. anything else?" she said "did you order anything else"? I said "no, but I was hoping for an apology and perhaps an offer of anything for the mistake and inconvenience". She said nothing. The guy behind the counter that spoke to me earlier asked her to verify it was the correct pizza as there was a second box on the counter and she confirmed. As I was walking out, I looked at him and asked "no apology? no offer to discount? no free garlic bread? anything?" He said "what do you want?" I said "I shouldn't have to ask." and walked out. All he said was "OK. Have a good night". I have been ordering this pizza from you for over 20 years, especially during Lent, (I live around the corner) and this was the first time I had an issue. But to be dismissed the way I was for what clearly was your mistake and there was no attempt to smooth it over and make it right was extremely disappointing. You should have done better and I SHOULD NOT have to tell you that! Thank you for listening, That was 4 weeks ago and still nothing.

Peyton at the host stand was super helpful getting us situated. Our server Jen was AMAZING!!! She was attentive, friendly, and honestly went above and beyond. She checked on us consistently, made sure everything was right, and even doubled as our photographer. Gabe also helped run food and was just as attentive. The only downside here: the mocktails lacked flavor, but Jen made sure to address it right away. food: Korean tacos & tuna crispy rice - 9/10 some meat was chewy but the flavor was there. My taste buds were happy! Braised short rib hash - 10/10, super tender meat, great flavor (just wish there was a little more hash) my cousin enjoyed this over hers Steak & eggs with truffle fries - 10/10 Crab Benedict - real lump crab, great flavor 10/10 but they need to watch the poached egg, it was runny enough Chicken & waffles - 9/10 Shrimp jambalaya - 7/10, a bit dry, but they quickly added more sauce when we mentioned it Truffle fries with aïoli - 10/10, must-order Beignets - 10/10, "chef's kiss"- soft, sweet, and definitely worth getting We didn't go deep into dessert beyond the beignets, but those alone were a hit. Between the atmosphere, the service, and most of the food hitting, it made for a really enjoyable brunch. If you haven't been yet, go, you'll enjoy the experience.

After we left him, the two of us were literally starving. On the way home, I drove through Audubon Shopping Center for a place to get a bite. I saw the bar and "bingo!" Ale House?!?! What could be better than a beer and a sandwich? There were about ten regular customers at the bar, and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. My daughter and I decided to sit at the bar rather than at a table. When my daughter mentioned it was my birthday, I was surprised and felt very honored that just about everyone wished me a Happy Birthday. We sat next to a couple and got engrossed in a great conversation. We ordered our beer and a menu special: a prime rib sandwich. Oh, wow, it was mouth-watering and so delicious! I savored every morsel of that sandwich! The Audubon Ale House is a bar's bar. By that, I mean that it's an actual bar that doesn't pretend to be otherwise. Having passed it by on numerous occasions without a second glance... hiding in plain sight strikes…read moreme as the perfect semantic descriptor for this rather intriguing eatery. Tucked away within the precincts of the Club at Shannondell, a public golf course, Chadwick's is a hidden gem that is certainly well worth discovering. Locally owned and operated, the restaurant not only offers patrons a casually comfortable environment in both the main dining room and the cozy bar area, but also a menu of classic American fare filled with a variety of provocative gastronomic eye-openers. Yes, the usual suspects are present and accounted for. However, the kitchen has a tendency to team them up with a number of unusual and curiously compelling accoutrements. Which, needless to say, makes for some rather interesting - and thoroughly enjoyable - dining. Consider, for example, the Sweet Jersey Corn Flatbread. Most diners have encountered flatbread in one form or another and realize that the ingredients may vary greatly, depending upon the individual restaurant and/or whims of the chef. Here, as the name indicates, one of the slightly unusual features is the inclusion of kernels of roasted sweet corn. Old familiars like tomato and mozzarella are cast in supporting roles, with crumbles of crisp bacon contributing additional flavor and texture. But the pièce de resistance is clearly the irresistible splash of chipotle crema, which succeeds in generating just enough heat to push up the "wow" factor by several significant notches. Chadwick's Chophouse Salad (pictured) is yet another interesting variation on a favorite theme... The mixed greens and grilled chicken are certainly straightforward enough. But then things take a surprising turn with the addition of items such as dried cranberries, candied pecans, hickory-smoked bacon, apple slices, goat cheese, and white chocolate. Unusual? For certain. But also deliciously addictive... with a sinfully seductive white-honey vinaigrette providing the perfect complementary finishing touch. My dining companion and I were fortunate enough to share the two above-mentioned items during a recent luncheon sojourn; and I freely confess that we were more than just a little impressed with the kitchen's adventurous innovations. However, should you decide to put in an evening appearance - with menu entries such as Bacon-Wrapped Meatloaf, Potato and Horseradish Crusted Salmon, Marry Me Chicken, and Slow Braised Mojo Pork - I'm certain that your taste buds will be equally inspired. The dessert menu, if you'll pardon the pun, is short and sweet. There are just four possibilities; but, in their own way, they are just as titillating as many of the items that have preceded them: Honey Jack Daniel's Bread Pudding, Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie, Dubai Chocolate Torte, Brandied Cherry New York Cheesecake. As I have undoubtedly noted in previous reviews, any mention of peanut butter on a dessert menu is an immediate draw... and Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie (pictured) is certainly no exception. That being said, however, incorporating proper peanut butter taste into cakes, pies, and pastries is definitely something of a "sticky wicket." In other words, problematic. So problematic, in fact, that in my years of reviewing various and sundry peanut butter-laced desserts, I have, for the most part, been consistently disappointed. Fortunately, that is not the case here. The taste of Chadwick's Peanut Butter Pie is subtle, yet exceptionally pleasurable. Ditto the texture... which succeeds in gently caressing the palate rather than overwhelming it.
