The one bartender who was a guy was really really rude. Kept asking me for my ID when I showed him multiple times. He was really rude and I kept telling him multiple times after he checked my Id multiple times that I wasn't even drinking and that I've been sitting here waiting for friends to be done to leave. Will not be back here again. Not worth it. I can go down the street to chickies and Petes and have a better time. Very rude. Not happy and a waste of $50 to even eat or get drinks in this bar. read more

While I live nearby I rarely come because the food is mediocre at best. It had been a while so decided to give it another try. I ordered chicken nachos to go after a couple of drinks. The chicken was grey, stringy and dried out. It tasted as if it sat in the walk-in uncovered taking on the essence of other decaying food. Been going to Chap's for the last 12 years or so. Early on it was for the Poker on Tuesday Nights (won a few times!!). Haven't been around as much since I moved further away, so I like to stop in when I'm in the area. Stopped in on Saturday because I remembered they have weekend Happy Hour from 2pm-4pm. Food was great, as always. I got hot wings, garlic parm wings, Potato skins and Mozz. sticks. Plenty of leftovers!!. I did notice Nachos are no longer on the happy hour menu :( . And you can't beat the draft beer specials. BUT, the point of this review is to mention the GREAT service by the Bartender Steve (name on receipt). Very attentive and always had a refill ready for my drink. I ordered the garlic parm wings first and had a few, then i ordered the hot wings and he made sure to ask if there was anything wrong with the garlic parm wings since i ordered another kind. I assured him they were great. He seemed to know the regulars who came in and what they liked. Once again, great service compelled me to write my 1st Yelp review. Two stars, simply because this place could be SO much better if it wasn't for the shitty service. We're here every Wednesday night for Trivia with Tom, which is a good enticement. The servers are great -- especially Megan, Mary Beth, and Serena, who all make an effort to get to know us personally and can anticipate our needs as well as cater to our special requests. The menu is pretty typical for a taproom/tavern, and the food is solid. The rotating beer menu has a good selection, and sports are always on, all around. You won't miss any game here! Wednesday night is Create your own Pasta night, which is nice starting at $6.99 (add-ons are extra), and there are usually a couple of app specials too. This is definitely more bar than restaurant for a Friday night meal with a five year old. The food was good, standard bar fare. However it was incredibly loud and understaffed. Our waitress had at least 6 other tables all in the area to the right of the bar. This space is for overflow from the dining area to the left of the bar which was full, but perhaps quieter. For a family though there are few booths in this restaurant at all. The space we sat is really intended for late night djs or other parties as it has a stage area and dance floor. My first time there. The spinach and crab dip was just okay. It would have been better just a little thicker with perhaps Parmesan or crispy bread crumbs on top. My mother got the chicken finger appetizer which was perfect for a 94 yo and she enjoyed them. The server basically blamed our group for showing up all at once (even though the coach TOLD them how many were coming). She gave us attitude the whole time. This place is a very reliable place to go for a good time. Everyone is super friendly, and the service is always at least decent. It's not the fanciest place or the most exciting bar I've been to, but I think it's a great local spot. The prices are always good and they have plenty of TVs and a couple of good bar games. I come in here at least once a week. It's a solid local bar that has a lot to offer. I've come here for family dinners, a date, girl's night, and to watch football games. With that being said, there's something for everyone here. I've never had a bad meal here. I'd even go as far as saying that this place has really good meals, aside from being a bar. I usually always get an order of wings, the boom boom sauce is great. Also, on the weekend the lobster bisque is very good. Great atmosphere! Me and my girlfriend sat at the bar for dinner. Great selection of beers. Had the carribean jerk wings, awesome! The spinach and crab dip were great too! The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. I had the steak and shrimp for my main course which is the only reason I can't give out a 5 star rating. Good beer selection, but don't order the "sharp provolone cheesesteak." Let me preface my comments by saying that I love hot food, use several varieties of hot peppers in my chili, love extra hot and suicide wings, and have never had any wings or chili that were too spicy for me! But, I can now say that I have had a cheesesteak that was too spicy for me. In fairness "hot Italian peppers" are in the sandwich's description. But, I think they had have added several whole habanero or possibly ghost peppers when cooking the meat for the cheesesteak to get that spicy. The menu should contain a warning about the extreme heat of the sandwich. I was looking for a tasty cheesesteak, not a cheesesteak that was so hot, it should have been in an eating contest! I've been here many times over the years and in general have been satisfied. I was prompted to post a review after happy hour last PM. We had the hummus appetizer. It was excellent! The recipe is a twist on the usual chickpeas. They use white beans which was a delicious change. The pita that accompany it, was slightly warm and soft, not mushy but soft. Very good! The carrots & celery were fresh and the scallions that top the hummus were crisp. A nice contrast to the hummus. Usually OK service. But this time horrible! We waited 5-10 minutes everytime our drink was EMPTY and then another 5-10 minutes to get another beer. This was a dead night with about 20 people in the entire bar and no excuse to literally walk by empty drinks and not ask if we are ok or if we need another drink. Also there was 8 people with 4 separate checks and 18% gratuity was added on so we couldn't give a bad tip if we wanted to. Now i know servers make their money on tips and i have only given one bad tip in my life and this would have been a second if the gratuity wasn't included. And i honestly think that's why Angel didnt pay us any attention because she knew her 18% would be included. I am not one to complain and hate writing bad reviews, but the service i had today was just flat out horrible. read more
