It fulfilled the legal definition of fried chicken. Nothing transcendent happened. No angels sang. It was the culinary equivalent of a firm handshake. The biscuits were trying. The fries showed up out of obligation. Everyone did the bare minimum and clocked out emotionally. Then I reached the register. I have never felt more like I was personally ruining someone's day by giving them money. The cashier had the energy of someone forced to work as punishment by a judge. Ordering food felt like interrupting her lifelong mission to hate everything. I've gotten warmer hospitality from airport security. I wasn't greeted. I was tolerated. Every word out of my mouth was treated like an unpaid bill. I asked for sauce and you'd think I requested a kidney. The silence was aggressive. The eye contact was a hate crime against joy. We asked a server after 40 minutes where our order was, then the owner comes out and asks us to give them a little grace and offered us a dessert. I'm not sure what the server told her but we were not upset at all just wanted to know what was taking so long as did the twenty people sitting around us. It was really unusual that more than one had the same order number on their table. So service gets a poor rating. Now about the food, nothing special.
