I attended a wedding at Titlow Lodge this last Saturday. While the wedding was amazing, and yes,…read morethe venue is beautiful, the lady from Tacoma Metro Parks who was there was atrocious. As a guest, I've never been made to feel so unwelcomed by a venue. To give a little background, the wedding was scheduled to take place at the venue from 4:30 to 8pm. This woman came out every ~20 minutes, in her Metro Parks cardigan, after the ceremony took place to stand in the doorway and glare at everyone, then turn around and stalk off. I had just finished having a slice of the wedding cake when the lady came out, went into the area where the food was still set up, and started to move around all the dishes the guests had brought. She'd glare out at the hall where everyone was sitting, eying every table, hands on her hips. She was so unsettling that a majority of the guests started to leave. It was 6:30, I had only danced to one full song and was half way through dancing a 2nd time when the Tacoma Metro Parks woman, who was coming out far more frequently at this point, had one of the parents of the couple come out and ask who had brought what so she could clean up. This was at 6:30, and the reception wasn't supposed to end until 8pm, (I learned later that they had the lodge til 9pm so they could do cleanup AFTER the reception ended at 8) but the Tacoma Metro Parks lady was dead set on putting a damper on the festivities! I had to stop dancing to go over and point out my dish because she wouldn't let up. I tried to dance again, but the Parks woman had the parents go around and take all the table cloths off the table. What few guests she hadn't chased away started to leave. A handful of us tried to stick around until 8. I found out later from the bride's maid that the Tacoma Metro Parks woman was constantly interrupting the photo shoot and set up before the wedding even began. While the lodge and grounds are lovely, I cannot, at this time, recommend this venue. If you do book it, I would suggest being very sure that you make it clear you want the venue representative to not be present.

I visited here upon a birthday invitation for my son's friend, so I can only comment on my time…read morehere as a guest. His friend's family reserved a private room for the birthday event, and I was thankfully able to locate it with the assistance of an employee. The service seemed decent. Orders were taken at a timely manner with food quickly being brought out and serving plates/trays cleaned up promptly once everyone was done grabbing food from the table. I really liked the cleanliness and décor of the place. Has a calming ambience with all the ocean vibes. I was not expecting duckpin bowling (I didn't do any research before coming here) but it seems ideal for a casual time. No one was really taking the bowling seriously since it was more of an event to get together, eat, and chat, so the duckpin bowling is good for all the kids to just bowl for fun and all the adults to chatter in between. I had some pizza, it was good enough (not cheesy enough for my preference but the taste was adequate). A fun time overall. I'm not inquiring about the price though lol looks a bit too fancy for me.

The 2 stars are only because the staff was nice and the place is clean. However if you have ever…read morebowled before, DO NOT come here. This is the fakest bowling alley to ever exist, everything is wrong. Came here to practice my bowling technique and it is impossible to do. Here is a list of things I wish I knew before coming: 1. Pins on strings. Not my preference- still manageable but makes for a different experience. 2. When booking online, it says shoe rentals included. There were no shoes. Make sure you wear shoes you feel comfy bowling in. It will affect your game. 3. Lanes are not oiled or properly marked!!!! This is the most important part of bowling otherwise you are just shooting blind. The balls were just going every which way regardless of how good your throw was!! 4. The space before the lane was wayyy shorter than a standard bowling alley making it impossible to do a proper approach!!! It took a whole game to adjust. I'm sure this place is fine to come for the arcade, laser tag, or other activities. But if you are expecting real bowling, you won't find it here!!!

Clean facility, rooms, and common areas. Nice people working there…read more A few things to be aware of: 1. In the quest to save money on electricity, the hotel has installed brilliant blue-white LED lights in most room lamps and all bathroom fixtures. Terrible idea. Why is this mentioned? If you're waking up, it's great -- but if you're trying to get some sleep, that frequency of visible light screams "WAKE UP!" Even though you're feeling tired, the light unavoidably wakes up your brain and body. Terrible idea. Hint: put warmer (white light shifted toward the red end of the spectrum) in the lights in the bedroom, and perhaps (if equipped) an overhead light in the loo, so your guests aren't robbed of sleep. Did I mention that this is a terrible idea? Minus one point. 2. The parking slots are on a slight incline. Why does this matter? There is no brake on the luggage carts, and if you're there alone (or solo-loading the bags onto the cart), it's exciting to have to chase the cart as it rolls away -- toward other cars. Unload your vehicle at the hotel entrance, or risk your 50-pound suitcases meeting the nearby expensive-to-fix Mercedes or Beemer. 3. The breakfast buffet: very unexciting. The coffee? Mehhh. Condiments? Almost non-existent. The few dollars in the tip jar? Find a Starbucks or Peet's.

They were totally fine with me changing the dates a couple times, and they did everything we wanted as far as setting up tables and chairs the way we asked. Aside from the staff, the venue is absolutely incredible. The view is a million dollar view that you would never expect from a venue as affordable as this one. I would have paid double the price just for the view, honestly. I heard so many guests go on and on about how beautiful it was and it just made me so happy! The inside of the building is very unique as well, and it was a great space for the size we had and the setup we had planned. They have two conference rooms that can be used as get ready rooms, a full kitchen and plenty of parking. There's also space in the courtyard outside for a bar, tables and we set up lawn games as well. I can't say enough good things about this venue, and I'm so, so glad I chose to have my wedding here!
