Having forgotten to bring a hat, my husband and I stopped in here to find him one. Walking in, we were completely overwhelmed with the selection. This shop offers something for everyone. Baseball caps, sun visors, cute kitty sunhats for kids, classic fedoras, "Kentucky Derby" and Sunday best style hats, Steam Punk headwear and accessories. The sales associate who helped us did a great job listening and understanding what my husband was looking for. He dialed in on a couple selections, and gave a fantastic recommendation. He even elevated the choice by adding a feather for the brim, something we wouldn't have thought of. The price was a bit expensive, but worth it. My husband wore it every day we stayed in NOLA, and it has quickly become one of his favorites. If you are looking for a simple hat to keep the sun out of your eyes, or a statement piece, Chapel Hats is the place to go! read more

I was visiting New Orleans and needed a hat to go with my outfit for a nice dinner. I knew I could find one somewhere but this place stood out in my searching. Located in the French quarter, so parking can be challenging but relatively likely to find somewhere decent. There's tons of interesting stores, street entertainment and just beauty in the buildings all around. Now for the store.. it was moderately busy but the crew were well up with the pace to answer any and all questions along with keeping premium customer service. There wasn't a patron that walked in that wasn't greeted, even when I was being rung up for my 2 hats. Speaking of hats, there is plenty of variety. Not only in style but in price points, there's something for everyone's budget. They have a good amount of mirrors in the store to prevent you from running around to see your reflection and if the hat is a keeper. I found my 2 hats quick and didnt need to convince myself it was money well spent. I knew off the bat, these hats were exactly what I was looking for. I recommend this place and the game ball goes to miss Barbara. She rung me up and seemed to have the entire store under control. Fully focused on her job and patient with all. read more

I have been intending to write this review since January, when I was voisiting New Orleans for a convention. I did not think I needed a hat, but my friend wanted to go into Chapel Hats. I bought a hat and have worn it almost every day since! The young woman who worked there was so helpful! She picked out the perfect hat and added a feather to it, which really sets it off. I get so many compliments on it, with people asking where I got it. Thank you to the lovely staff who helped me find my favorite hat! read more

Another shop located in one of the more touristy sections of the French Quarter in the small retails shops overlooking the Jackson Square Pedestrian Mall... But this is a legit store that has some great product And yes, the store is all hats but not like the baseball caps and beanies you'd find at your typical mall hat store... no, these are beyond those hats. They have novelty hats like Steampunk and themes like high hats and hats that are great for unique events (that only NOLA can host). Stylish fedoras, newspaper hats, large brim hats... and they are name brands too. I ended up being impressed by a particular flat hat from Brixton Hats; prices are up there but nothing too excessive from what we could find from visiting some online stores. All in all, it's a cool shop that the staff will encourage you to try hats on and there is no pressure to buy anything... they'll help you get the correct size without that extra push to buy something that can't be sized properly or doesn't make you look good. read more

I came to NOLA from Albuquerque. Barbara was immensely helpful picking out my hat. She is very charming and fun to chat with. She's a major babe in my book. She was a LOT of fun, I could have spent the day hanging out in her store. She even helped me pick out a feather. I can't wait for the hotties to check out my new chapeaux. read more

Went and to replace my favorite hat blown by the wind today . Barbara and Kelsey welcomed us in with a sweet smile ! Gave us ample time and helped us with various sizes. Added bonus was showing us how to pack our hats for traveling back home. Great place! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here during our recent trip to NOLA. We were enjoying a nice afternoon near Jackson square and stumbled across this store. I'm extremely sensitive to the sun so he suggested we go in and see what types of hats they have. For the record, I wasn't hopeful that I would find anything simply bc I have a big head lol and I have lots of hair (locs) so it's always hard to find good looking hats that fit. Boy was I wrong! Ms. Barbara and Ms. Tracy were soooooo helpful, welcoming, and just such a joy that we left there with 3 hats for myself and one for my boyfriend (and he's not a hat wearer). We even went back the next day and purchased 3 more for his mom. I'm absolutely in love with my hats and the customer service, I had to make it my business to leave such a great review and post these pics. Thank you ladies for the incredible customer service ! read more

Michael helped me choose the best chapeau (a rolled-brim topper). Fun visit, knowledgable staff, great selection.

Amazing hats here. Different period styles, low costume fun to very high end sofisticarse styles. Something for everyone. They have a huge selection of removable facinators on headbands as well. You can try on everything, they don't mind and are very helpful folks. The whole family found something they loved to ware to the races read more

Love this place!!! Barbara was a big help! I walked out with two hats for me and one for my husband. I am not typically a hat wearer but the ones I bought are adorable. This place is very reasonably priced as well. Not knowing how often I will wear the hats I did not want to spend a crazy amount on them. This place has me wanting to buy tons of hats! Until next time New Orleans....... read more

I was in New Orleans this past summer and saw a hat that I liked, but didn't want to travel with it. I took a business card to place an order later. Six months later I visited the website, but the hat I had seen wasn't online. I called and was greeted by the most pleasant salesperson, I later learned her name was Michelle, I had ever dealt with on the phone. I explained to her what I had seen and she told me that everything in the store wasn't online. She said she would look and send me some pictures. She sent three pictures and it was the hat I had seen earlier. I placed the order and because my experience was so pleasant I added a second hat to the order. About 10 days later I called to check on the order and another amazing salesperson answered my call and after a couple minutes she found my order and told me it had been shipped and should be here in a day or two. This salespersons name was Barbara. Thank you Barbara! read more

We stopped in looking for a very specific hat that someone regretted not buying on a previous trip. Those particular hats were sold out, but we did find a comparable one for a great price. The selection is awesome. There are a few of SO many types of hats! Prices vary from inexpensive to quite spendy; however, the hats are good quality and worth the money. The woman who waited on us was really friendly and had a great sense of humor. read more

Staff was helpful and kind...until we decided to leave, and hadn't purchased anything. Then the one woman turned cold and mean. It was actually hurtful -- she made a sarcastic comment about the "pull" sign on the door when I was trying to open it. Too bad, as my husband needed a hat and was considering coming back later. Maybe they are under a lot of pressure to sell, but this doesn't justify treating a customer like that -- and I am a kind and polite customer! read more

Went here with a group, with one person set on a particular hat. This shop not only had the bucket hats, the person from our group was looking for, but also had a wide array of hats from men's to women's and even to children's. Like other reviews the prices varies depending on the hat, but my group and I found that most hats were reasonably priced. ($20-40) Overall great shop and something to look at if you've never been inside a hat shop before. read more

We found Chapel Hats while just exploring the Jackson Square area in Nola. It was a fun place to explore with lots of fun and beautiful hats. As someone who lives in Kentucky where you NEED to have a hat for Derby, this was a great store. Hats of every size and style, you will find something to suit all your hat needs. read more

Avoid this store. There are plenty of great hat stores in Nola but not this one. Staff is rude and condescending. When we returned a hat they wanted to charge us an extra $10 for the box since it is "only $5 with hat purchases." Seemed petty since I had bought two hats on another receipt the day before. We gave them back the box since I was not keen on spending more money to carry a box advertising their store. read more

It's a small shop with big ideas on hats. They have some awesome steampunk designed hats in here. They have large hats and little tiny hats for the ladies. Plenty of variety in size and style. The lady working was very friendly and helpful too. My mom bought a miniature hat here to go with an Easter outfit. read more

In the same location Shushan's once was, Chapel is mostly dedicated to hats now. They have a very large selection of ladies hats, a bit of steampunk and a a large assortment of Bailey's packable fedoras. I love this shop. They have some really great interesting hats, wonderful service, and they believe in quality. I found this wonderful hat that was just my style but it was a bit too big for me.
