My original move time was at 9am and by 9:30 I called to find out what the delay way and I was told that team had a vehicle problem. I was informed that a second team would come and would give me a call when they were en route which they did and arrived at 12:45. They brought a third person even though I hired 2 but because of the delay they added an additional person. The job was complete at the 2 hour timeframe that I needed. Alex was apologetic for the inconvenience and his team was efficient and courteous. Four stars because of the delay but I would recommend them. read more

Carlos Maldonado & Mario Rodríguez were excellent. They showed up on time, came prepared, and got straight to work. They were efficient and coordinated. No wasted movement, no confusion, just a clear system that made the entire unload go quickly and smoothly. Carlos & Mario handled everything with care, especially the heavier furniture and more fragile items. Nothing was damaged, and they were thoughtful about placement, asking where things should go instead of just dropping everything in one spot. Beyond the work itself, they were professional, respectful, and easy to communicate with throughout the process. Moving is usually stressful, but they made this part of it feel easy. When I used their services, they would disappear for long periods of time. Intentionally stretching out the time to load my belongings so they could charge more. I would find them over and over; smoking, on their phones, or just gone. Then when they unloaded, they charged me way over the bid quoted. They were so good the time before when they initially moved my belongings into that appartment. So I was stunned when they started threatening for the additional amount. read more

I used their services about 4 yrs ago. The main thing that put me off was how they kept making comments about receiving a "good" tip. If they did their job correctly they shouldn't be worrying about what kind of tip they are going to receive. Nobody likes being pressured to leave a tip. read more

I was so impressed by the 2 gentlemen who came to move me from San Antonio to New Braunfels. They were very nice, helpful and did a tremendous job packing my things and were very careful and took care of my fragile things they were moving for me. I would recommend them 100%. read more

I requested a quote for a local move and the person in charge Todd raised the price by at least 30% from a previous distance move, this time he was a jerk and stated that if I didn't like it to go somewhere else? What kind of service is this? He's over charging, and has a lousy attitude with the customer. Will not recommend, also they don't care about covering the furniture or padding it, I ended up with dressers, book case and dining table scratched and they of course do not want to take responsibility, I also think that they took a gadget needed from my vacuum cleaner because I never found the part. read more

I have nothing but excellent comments for Chapa's Moving Service. I will absolutely use them again on my next move. The company did a great job both before and during my local move in the McAllen area. Before the move, we requested a change in the move date and they were more than happy to accommodate us and moved us on 1-days notice. The crew they sent (Marco and Hery) were as good as anyone who has moved us previously. They both worked hard the entire 9 hours it took to move us. There were very careful of our possessions and they were meticulous in piecing the truck loads in order to get our entire household moved in 2 trips. They could have easily gotten a 3rd trip out of us had they not been able to load the truck with minimal wasted space in each load. read more

Would give them 0 stars if I could. This is for the San Antonio area- We used them back in September 2020 to move us from a previous home to storage and then from storage to new home on January 26, 2021 so not sure when it happened. After starting to unpack we found numerous things scratched, dented or missing parts so not sure which move it happened in. When I called about it, was told to submit a claim which they have 30 days to response. No "l'm sorry" or anything. All our items were in excellent condition and 4 years old or newer. Now we have a master bedroom dresser with scratches/gouges all over top, a dining table with scratches, a end table with chuck of wood knocked out, a Samsung front end loader washer and dryer which there was only 1 small scratch on top of washer before it was moved and now both have numerous scratches on them and a dent. A couch that's not even 2 years old has legs missing, the handle from my husband's lawn mower was removed and parts are missing, the metal ends that keep mattresses from sliding are missing from our split king adjustable bed frame. I have submitted a claim with pictures so we will see what happens but probably nothing. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone nor will I ever use again. UPDATE on my claim; received a letter in mail 02/27/21 that claim was denied. Apparently I did not purchase additional insurance that I was not even informed about and their workers stated that all of our items had pre-existing damage which are LIES. Like I'm sure they would remember a move back in September 2020. All our items that they messed up were in perfect condition before move, no dents or scratches. Our couch was missing legs and the lawnmower they took the handle off of it was missing parts so apparently I guess my husband was mowing without a handle and we were sitting on the couch without legs according to them. Pretty good, the main negative was that I felt they were rough on my stairs, slamming the dolly on each step up and down. It took them 4 hours, which was was a reasonable amount of time for the most part considering the stairs. I think the movers were tired from the job right before mine. I guess it was a hoarder or something. The price was good. The truck was huge. Man who answers phone could sound a bit nicer. read more

Waiting 60 days to write this review. Was too p****** off to do it before. We hired six men and two trucks for an in-town McAllen move. Towards the end the crew started hinted that each of them were due a big tip due to heat. Since they were not done yet I did not offer a tip at that time (I do tip big for good service everywhere). All of a sudden their whole attitude changed. They then damaged (including stripping screws by cross threading) furniture putting it back together. They gouged walls. They chipped flooring. I then was shocked to see two of the crew rolling a safe (approx two feet x two feet x two feet) end over end instead of picking it up. You can image what it did to the files and valuables inside the safe. When I said something they just walked away leaving it in the middle of the family room. I finally sent them on the way even though they were not done to our satisfaction. I then hired a couple of sons of friends to help the next day. When I called to complain I was told to leave name and number. No response. Never again. Stay away if you value your furniture. Stay away if your value your home. read more

Fantastic! For the price you pay for the Chapa movers, you expect muscle and not much more. But these guys knew their business. They worked quickly and efficiently -- as we expected from the other review. But best of all, they packed our truck so tightly that nothing shifted on our move. When we arrived, nothing was broken. These guys are extremely effective and professional. They rescued me when I got caught up in a long distance moving scam last summer, came quickly, didn't charge much ($100 for 2 guys) and stored my stuff for several months. Then when I was ready, they made it very easy for another L/D mover to come and get it, coordinating closely with me. purchased furniture from a store that does not offer delivery, they called chapas, they were rude over the phone, hung up on store associate several times. They delivered items from a 10 minute drive....that took them 1 hour in total including unload and setup...and damaged my expensive furniture. At the end they ended charging us 100, instead of the 50 original fee quote. unprofessional-did not even apologize for damages...acted like it was like that when we got it.
