    Cantina interior, New Mexico vibes
    Tina M.

My husband and I have been looking forward to this cantina opening for months, walking in front of it several times over the past year, witnessing the various stages of construction and decoration necessary to transform the defunct clothing store that occupied the space into a restaurant cantina serving drinks. Finally, it opened up this week, and we had a chance to try it! First, I gotta say that the ambiance is really cute. It's decorated like a desert style joint, reminiscent of many New Mexico venues we have experienced while road tripping. There are standing tables, booths and chairs, and there's also a patio for those who enjoy their drinks and bites outdoors. Speaking of drinks and bites, the menu, while simple, has options for pretty much all (or most) diet types. Drinks with and without alcohol, various delicious chips and dips, and bites like quesadillas, are available to order. My husband had a margarita while I got a virgin drink called the Rebecca. We had the chips with pepitas and also shared a mushroom quesadilla with pickled vegetables on the side. Everything tasted great! Nothing was out of place. The dip was amazing, and so was the cheese in the quesadilla. Prices were also fair, neither too high or too low, just right. Goldilocks would have been pleased! The owner, Austin, explained that in order to keep his drinks consistent, he prepares weekly at the cantina very specific pre-mixed refrigerated recipes that baristas can easily use without deviating from the established norm and quality. He wants his patrons to always have a good experience and never have to worry about getting a bad drink. All ingredients are also fresh, and the little kitchen in the back seemed clean and tidy. We're really happy to see Lockhart's downtown square flourish. We hope this cantina will shoot up in popularity so we too can keep enjoying its offerings!

Interior stone walls transcend you back to that period of dirt streets, horses hitched out front, & America coming into its own. In the heart of historic downtown Lockhart, this live music venue also offers scrumptious food options from its restaurant as well as ice cold brews and elevated cocktails. Can't beat a Sunday Funday brunch with live music, drinks, and food.

We happened upon a bar that had a teller of comicdic stories and his helper and thought this to be perfect. The name of said bar was The Pearl and the storyteller a Mr. Daryl Felsberg. We ordered our alcohol. My wife and traveling companion got me a white chocolate Martini, it came with a pearl and a cherry. and I got her a cocktail called Emily Morgan. Both were very good. The service was friendly but only two people running the whole thing and one was the owner or manager who was mostly the greeter. She was friendly but the main bartender was doing most of the work and while impressive I felt sort of bad for him. The set up is you can sit at the bar, then there is a walkway all in a line from the door. When you enter bar is on your right. To the left are tables of various sizes. Right in front of the stage is a table with two comfy chairs. Right past the bar is a small seating nook with comfy chairs. Not a bad overall setup. Bathrooms are through another set of doors. No food but there is a popular pizza place nearby and you can bring that in to eat. The comics were both funny. We bought a CD and T-Shirt from the main guy. The one thing that did go wrong was the stage lighting. It just randomly would switch colors, brightness, sometimes turn off completely. This was their first comedy show there but they have live music so not sure what happened. You got your own water from a glass dispenser which was not the only place that did this. It was a pretty popular option. We also had a shot of peanut butter whiskey. The overall price wasn't bad. It was a nice place, they had live music coming after the comic but we had other plans. This was our only visit to The Pearl on this trip but it was a pleasant rest stop for weary traveller's in need of quenching our thirst and merriment.

Does it have a simple yet elevated menu? ALSO YES! First I was like alright dive bar. Then you realize it is an upscale dive bar in a sort. Drinks come out of a cooler filled with ice OR are perfectly crafted in front of you. We started by sharing the recommendation of the DEVILED EGGS (5 pc) with the Korean Chili Crisp. Was a curious as it seems like a dive bar?You betcha. Was it maybe the best deviled eggs I've ever had. Absolutely! Get these for sure! Then we shared the JOJOS "Seasoned Potato Wedges" with Boom Boom Sauce. The crunch and flavor of the potatoes was spot on. The boom boom sauce is house made and has a lovely kick to it. We couldn't eat them all because our next item came... We both had a SMASH BURGER: Double Double, Beef Patties, American Cheese, Boom Boom Sauce on a Potato Roll. I am going to say when I want a smash burger this is what I am thinking of. This is what I want. The only thing, some days I may want just ketchup and not Boom Boom sauce but that is by day and mood only. Damn they did good! I'll be back. I will need to eat all of this again!

It's been around since 2018 so most folks know where it is by now. Heads up, you no longer have to use their app to make a reservation. Simply do so through Open Table and that's when you'll get the entry code. So glad it's no longer a members-only spot as well. The basement location gives anything but a basement vibe. When you enter, you'll see the infamous black paint on white walls mural but then you're transformed into something more. An elegant and elevated high-end speakeasy that transports you to what life in speakeasy settings must have felt like in the days of olde. Who doesn't love being greeted by a tasteful, giant, fake bear with welcome cocktails? The low-lit space brings a feeling of warmth, secrecy, romance, and mystery. You absolutely get the feeling you're in a special and secret hideaway space. From the refined wallpaper to hand blown glass lighting fixtures to the lush and velvety sofa seating, you are truly immersed in the vibe. It brings a feeling of noir and romance with even sexier drinks. Being seated in one of the nooks is my favorite and just really adds to the overall experience. If you follow my reviews then you know I often refer to excellent cocktails as liquid works of art. And, in this case, it's like the most exclusive, high-end art gallery of liquid masterpieces. Cocktails with branded cubes, top tier alcohol and other ingredients from around the globe make for a worthy piece of drinkable art. It doesn't end with cocktails! The mocktails are equally as beautiful and delicious. I highly recommend the cocktails and mocktails. Service is exactly what you would expect and want it to be in this environment. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than average but you're paying for art, atmosphere, and experience that is beyond wonderful.
