If I had to use one word to describe my experience with Going GreenHouse, it would be deceptive…read more I'll start at the end and work my way back to the beginning. We had become increasingly dissatisfied with the service we were receiving. Because we were out of town for most of September, we skipped a couple of scheduled cleanings and planned to reconsider the service in October. During this period, Going GreenHouse changed how they notified us about upcoming cleanings. Previously, they had consistently notified us by text message. They instead sent an email notification, which we did not see. I did not realize there was a scheduled cleaning until the day before it was supposed to occur. At that point, I decided we were done with the service. I immediately texted and called Going GreenHouse to cancel. I was then told that I had missed their 48-hour cancellation deadline and that I would be charged for the cleaning. They ultimately charged us approximately $250 for a cleaning that we did not want and, as far as I can tell, did not receive. What is particularly troubling is that Going GreenHouse told me that we had opened the email notification. We had not. They offered to provide evidence showing that the email had been opened, but despite charging us, they never provided that evidence. That experience was frustrating enough on its own, but the company's cancellation process made it worse. Customers can access their account through a link provided to confirm an appointment, but the system allows you to confirm an appointment without providing a comparable online option to cancel it. There is also no straightforward online option to cancel the recurring service. To make matters worse, we were never required to sign a contract or agreement establishing these terms. Yet when we attempted to cancel, the company relied on a 48-hour cancellation policy to charge us for a service we did not want. Looking back, this experience also changed how I viewed the service from the beginning. When we initially signed up, we received what appeared to be a very strong sales experience. The company sent what I would describe as its "A" team to sell us on the service. Once we became customers, however, the quality and consistency of the service declined. Initially, two cleaners came to our home, but over time that became one cleaner. We also became increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of the cleaning and the amount of time spent on the job. Ultimately, we are out approximately $250, and Going GreenHouse collected that money despite us attempting to cancel before the scheduled cleaning. I cannot speak to the company's intentions, but the way this situation was handled left me feeling that the company prioritized collecting a cancellation fee over providing good customer service. Changing the notification method, relying on a cancellation deadline that was difficult to meet, claiming we had opened an email when we had not, and then charging us without providing the promised evidence left a very bad impression. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Going GreenHouse. There are plenty of cleaning companies that I would expect to handle customer communication and cancellations in a much more transparent and straightforward manner.
