Attention: Improper Food Temperature Holding We were excited to see a Brunch Buffet come to Bremerton, since Covid it has been hard to find them anymore and we were excited to go check it out. However, they have some huge errors that they need to correct. I have managed multiple food establishments before and it always concerns me when I see unsafe food practices. This place is NOT safe to eat at for the Bruch Buffet as it stands currently. They did not have the canned heat lit underneath the Buffet containers, in fact one of the containers didn't even have one at all underneath it. I figured that it was a small error and they just couldn't see it. So I let the gal at the front know, she went and told the guy who was in charge of manning and refilling the buffet station. He said something that sounded like he was disregarding it. He never once went over to attempt to light them, check on them, and completely ignored them. We continued to watch as food kept coming out but no one was dealing with the issue of the food not being kept hot. There were people in line to get food so the lids remained off of the food, so the heat is coming out, there's no heat control from the bottom, the food is just quickly making it into the danger zone. Finally I went up again to talk to the front yet again, this time there were two gals up front. I told them again that no one had lit them, and that it's quickly becoming a severe food concern and a matter of public safety. One of the gals said, "Uhm, I think that someone is looking into this". They brushed me off and I could tell they were just lying to me saying someone was taking care of this issue... It's a fast fix, you just go over and investigate them, and light them. No one once had looked at them, they aren't "looking into this", this isn't an equipment malfunction, this is a basic requirement for Food sanitation to run a buffet line. By the time we left, no one still had come up to investigate or address the issue. This is extremely unsafe. It is disappointing that the reactions from staff also did not take this seriously. This shows me that they don't care about safe food practices in this establishment which is also a huge concern. I saw several people post online about the fact that they ran into the same concerns and issues today from service. Another person said they were told by a staff member "We went to the store and couldn't find more canned heat"... there are tons of stores with it. Fred Meyer down the way had them in stock. This just wasn't a concern for them, which is not okay for a food establishment. Proper protocol for a kitchen is if they realized they didn't have them, would have been to shut down the buffet for the day and cancel it until they could get the heat source working properly. Also the buffet started at 9am and the food wasn't fully out and ready for 30 minutes past that. It's a real shame because they have the potential to be a great place. We custom ordered omelets that tasted great, the food itself when it was hot tasted good. It lacked some seasoning but otherwise they have such great potential. However, they can't ignore proper food handling. They can't risk peoples health like that. Completely unsafe and unprofessional the way they handled that. read more

The facility is nice, the band was good. I've been waiting for a beer for more than an hour. I don't know about food, I haven't seen it yet. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that they still can't get staff. I hope the band is not getting a cut of sales. Finally got some food and a beer. Just some chicken strips and fries; it looked and tasted like real pieces of chicken not formed nuggets. The horseradish and jalapeño dipping sauces were very good. I liked the fries, they had the skin on and appeared that they were cut on site. They were nicely cooked, crispy outside and creamy inside. read more

This brewery actually surprised me quite a bit. We've been here twice, once for breakfast and another evening for dinner and both times we've had a decent experience. The duck sliders we had on their autumn special menu were pretty good. I feel like they were a little gamey at first but not bad overall. The sauce really took that flavor down a bit so it wasn't as hard to stomach for me. I really love arugula though so that also worked nicely. The beer is actually pretty good, had a nice porter (I think) and it was smooth and not too hoppy. The breakfast here was awesome though, the Croque Madame was perfect in every way and the vegan hash was nice, would've been better with some tofu. Will be trying the other menus read more

As of October 2023, the best thing I can say about this place is that they do indeed embody their brand name: "Chaos!" Quality, ambiance, morale, and the menu seems to have taken a deep nosedive after their peculiar (and seemingly queer-phobic) purge of most employees, as well as a reorganization of the dining room, pivot to table service, and some offerings. Beer quality seems to be consistent, which I can describe as "yup, that's beer." This place had a great vibe but now it is metaphorically acting like a middle-aged person who had a sudden freakout and is now having a mid-life crisis. I hope this establishment can figure itself out someday. Maybe the management can do some introspection while they're at it. read more

Used to be a pretty decent place with excellent events and absolutely a haven for the queer community. Good selection of beers and pretty decent food but overall the biggest thing they had was their amazing staff and events. Those are now gone. The owner fired the entire staff via text after the employees found out their credit card tips were being swiped by the owners. Locks were changed and they were barred from getting their own personal property. This is no longer a good place for the queer community nor does it put on those great events and I can't speak for the staff anymore as they were all fired at once. read more

We tried Chaos for the first time in December 2023 and were unfortunately really disappointed at the time. We tried a pizza with chicken on it and it was actually the worst pizza I can recall having. I can't even remember what it was, but maybe a white pizza? It had all of the ingredients that should have made it delicious, but it lacked any flavor. I tried adding fresh onions at home to help but it was just pervasive. Most importantly I think it was missing salt. I saw a Facebook post that they had a new owner operating as of yesterday and I was thrilled. I really want to love this place. The inside is beautiful, I love to play pool, and it's walking distance for us. So, we decided to try it for dinner tonight. I ordered a new item (chicken skewers) and my husband ordered an old item (a BBQ burger and fries). Unfortunately, one plate came out about 10 minutes before the other so my husband was done with the burger by the time I started on my meal. The bartender/server/man doing all the jobs explained there was a huge order placed ahead of us and I totally get that. But this gets to the point of my review and the feedback that I hope Chaos takes: please fix the food. It's still bad... perhaps chaotic? My chicken skewers were so overcooked and unseasoned (it would be too generous to say underseasoned) I couldnt finish them. The yogurt sauce they came with was delicious BUT I shouldn't need to drown a bite of anything in sauce to make it palatable. Weirdly enough, the whole meal again lacked salt. Especially my skewers and my husband's fries. The fries came unsalted and crispy to the point of some being too hard, and when fries aren't salted right when they get out of the fryer, there's no shot of any salt sticking. Especially not when their table salt is coarse, so it just bounced off the fries. Chaos food reminds me of having Thanksgiving dinner with my grandparents when they cut salt (and already didn't season things) out of their diet for health reasons. I really want to be a regular here because the location and the people seem wonderful, but without better food I won't be going back. I really hope they see & take the feedback because I've seen other forum comments with this same sentiment. Edit: there were also a lot of flies and one offed itself in my water. You don't have to have this problem in your restaurant/bar. And I read some other reviews that mention feeling stared at upon entering and I reiterate that feeling. Even a simple sign saying "take a menu, seat yourself, and order at the bar" would be a better experience than walking into what feels like an interrogation by the regulars at the bar. read more

Love this place for dropping in with our kids during the weekday. Afternoon and evenings both are family friendly, there's something on the menu for everyone and we get to play pool as a family. My teens love that there's stuff to play on the jukebox. Great service and friendly! 10/10 would recommend. read more

Great first impression. Stopped in to try their beer on our way to dinner. Greeted by a very friendly and informative staff member as we walked in. We were told to sit anywhere and he referenced the beer menu on the wall. While it is a limited selection, they had a session IPA that we decided to try. Beer was delicious and made me wanting to try more on my next visit. The menu looked great as well and I zeroed in on the schnitzel. He also showed us a pizza as he was delivering it to another table and that too looked tasty. Again, only stopped in for a beer, but I'm excited to make it back very soon to sample the food and more of the beer. There was a Belgian Golden Ale that caught my eye on the menu. Came back with my neighborhood kids on a whim when out to the nearby convenience store. Want snacks?! Let's see??!! Best fries I've ever had, same server and I apologize being horrible with names. But he politely shooed the young girls off the barstools and was incredibly patient. The burger was amazing, too! I'll be back for those three pool tables and I'll bring my cue. I visited the Chaos Bay Brewing Company earlier today and I was blown away by what I saw and experienced! Wish I could give them 6 or 7 stars because they deserve them! Chaos Bay Brewing Company (CBBC) set up shop in the old McClouds place up on the hill at the intersection of Perry Street and Sheridan Way. The place is tastefully decorated, brightly lit, with a good atmosphere not to mention they make and sell their own beer! But their menu is the real deal! First off, all of the menu selections come with a clear description of the items that come with any particular selection- unlike other restaurants whose menus simply say "Salad" or Burger or Fish. My fiancee and I ordered the NXSW Salad with roasted chicken, so we expected a salad with small cubes of refrigerated chicken! How simple! We ordered one salad and were charged for only one salad- unlike other restaurants of late that charged us for two menu items when we specifically requested one item split between two patrons. And, as an extra bonus, they brought the salad out in two plates (bowls actually) and each salad was very tastefully and delectably splayed in the bowls. Their salads are very well priced between $12 and $17 depending on the specific ingredients, and not to disparage other restaurants, the names of their salads reflect the type of ingredients included in the salad! Imagine that.... naming a salad by the type of ingredients that go into it! Genius! read more

Visiting my son and daughter in law in Bremerton. They post this place on facebook at least once a week. So when I got here they decided this is where we should go for a quick drink. Definitely a local pub... beer is their claim to fame (it's a brewery). Personally I'm not beer drinker, but the hadmany choices. The also have a full bar and a few signature drinks. I tried the Gin-ger Rickey. Made of Crater Lake Gin, fresh squeezed lime juice and a splash of ginger beer. A refreshing drink. We shared an order of fried zucchini which was pretty good. Didn't have chance to try their hot dog with cream cheese... sounds awful, but my son says its delicious. Maybe we'll go back before I head for home. We came in the other night and it must have been an off night. We had three servers. Two women, one who was going off shift and one oncoming. Then a man who seemed to maybe be a manager? The first woman we had was nice and attentive, but she wasn't there long as her shift was ending. The woman who was helping us after was rude. We all stopped at some point during the evening and commented about how she talked to us. She made us feel like we were an inconvenience. The man was kind, and helpful, but it didn't quite make up for the woman who was also still waiting on us. The food was ok. It must have been an off night in the kitchen. I got the Kip and Fritz and while it was good... the gravy was one lump in the middle and I found just a tiny few bits of cheese. Having had poutine many times, this wasn't high on the list. My Shepard's pie was wonderful, but pretty greasy. The biggest problem was my friends Ruben sandwich. It came to her burnt. Really burnt. The top was black enough that she checked the bottom, which was charred beyond what I have ever seen before. It makes you wonder why they didn't stop at some point and say that maybe it shouldn't be served. She asked to have it remade... and it was(and she liked it when it came back out). They also admitted that they burnt it one more time before getting one that could be served. I get it. Things burn. But know enough as both kitchen staff and servers to know when something shouldn't go out to the table. I can't say for sure if we will give it another try or not. read more

So, this place isn't bad. I ordered off Uber eats and haven't been inside restaurant. I'm sure I'd probably like it. So all I can really comment on currently is the food I ordered which was good. I ordered Shepard's pie which tasted good I'd maybe not order it again though. I feel I paid way to much for it. Again it was tasty but I would describe more as a cheesy hash brown with ground beef. It was kind of dry. Nothing like a traditional shepherds pie had. Which I actually like that is was different. Anyway I am looking forward to coming in and having a meal. read more

This place was so good! Last time I was here I wasn't able to try much since they were out of some stuff but this time I was able to enjoy dinner here. For drinks I had the coconut porter which had an excellent coconut flavor and wasn't too heavy. For a starter we went with the stuffed mushrooms which were so delicious. I opted for the blue cheese burger and it was so yummy. The burger itself was cooked perfectly and came with hand cut fries which were incredibly addicting. Of course we had to go for dessert once we found out that our waiter actually made the carrot cake and we weren't disappointed. The cake was moist and flavorful with a tasty cream cheese frosting. Overall, this place was a delicious stop for dinner, I would highly recommend a stop here since it is probably one of the best places in Bremerton for dinner and drinks! read more

Breakfast at a brewpub in Manette. If you're coming here expecting parking, you're doing Manette wrong. If you're coming here expecting fast food, you're doing Manette wrong. Many people come to Manette as if they're going to WALMART. Don't be like those people. Be prepared to walk a bit, or just leave your car at home because the buses here are just about perfect. Saturday morning, not the evening, and not on a weekday, is the time to come to Der Blokken. Come for breakfast. The basic breakfast is just $5. The deluxe breakfast is just $8. But try some of the bigger breakfasts. I went for the Red Eye Biscuits and Gravy, which was two eggs, hash browns, biscuits, and sausage gravy so rich and thick you'll want to use those biscuits to soak up every drop. So much! So good! Owner Tim is really personable and took my order himself. Service? The waitress only had to ask me if the food was good. Tim took my order to the kitchen and brought it out. This is why you go in the morning. No one thinks to go to a brewpub in the morning. No, I haven't tried the beer. Doesn't even matter. Come here for the food, it's awesome. Beer is just a bonus. After a morning spent standing in line down the street at Sabatouer Bakery waiting for that perfect loaf of old-world rye bread, breakfast at Der Blokken caps off your Manette experience. Very friendly and charming staff in a very friendly and charming setting. It's off the beaten path in a town that for a lot of us is itself off the beaten path. Getting out to the quiet side of Bremerton feels like a bit of a haul, even for me--and I grew up in the south sound. But once you get here, you find a place that's completely serious about serving you good beer and food in a relaxed, informal, welcoming setting. It might have been built as an auto garage--concrete floors, roll-up doors. There's a nice dining room that you can tell is a dining room mainly because there are tables and chairs there. Past them, there's a bar. Off to the side, it's all big beer-making machines. Turn the other way, bathrooms. So, head for a table or the bar. The staff are so warm and friendly. Seattleites, brace yourselves: you'll make actual small talk with other humans. You'll even enjoy it. There are 5 taps given over to house beers--all worth drinking, so if the style is in your wheelhouse, belly on up and order one. There are about 8-10 guest taps, all well chosen, all west coast, mostly Washington. The food is fantastic pub grub. I had a hot pastrami sandwich and immediately wanted seconds--not because I was still hungry, though. Came with warm german potato salad, which is...what potato salad should be, at least the way they do it here, anyway. The bite of pizza I had was pretty awful, just cheap cheese, spongy crust, and canned tomato sauce. But the soup was delectable. And the dessert was out of this world. The bartender strongly recommended the ravioli, though we had plenty of food without getting into noodles. Later, she said "no, actually, your dessert wasn't a double. That's the normal serving size. Any dish where we're not limited by bread of buns, we try to make the serving size really generous." They definitely succeed at that. I'll absolutely be back for more beer and food. Der Blokken Brewery was a fun pit stop for lunch on yet another brewery run! The service was very friendly and that was a plus! I got the Red Ginga Ale. From the name it sounded like that there was ginger in it. If there was it was not too noticeable. Otherwise the Red was pretty good! I really enjoyed what I had for lunch here! I got an amazing Meatball Sub sandwich which was huge and tasted great! I will definitely keep that yummy sandwich in mind! The carrot cake for dessert sounded good but they were all out of it. So I found this place a while ago while lost in Manette and finally went back and tried it with the BF recently. We were both starving and happend to arrive during happy hour. This was a good thing since we ordered several items off the HH appetizer menu and got to try a bit of lots of items off their menu. The BF had some Shepard's Pie and it was a huge portion for the HH menu. He enjoyed it throughly. He also gave the bangers and mash a go. He devoured it and thought it was a great deal for the price. I tried the poutine. The gravy was a bit of your out of a can tasting, but that didn't stop it from being delicious. I also tried the sliders and they were tiny, but yummy. They had a mustard/relish type deal on them and that was surprisingly good. The bread they came on was fabulous. The best part of my sampling of food was the wings. I'm not really a wing person but they were delicious for some reason that night - maybe they're always that good or maybe it was a random craving I was fulfilling. I had them with the Honey BBQ sauce and they were absolutely delicious. Being that this place is a brewery, the BF and I each tried one of their beers they had on tap that night. I tried the Stout and though I'm not a huge Stout fan, I still enjoyed it. The BF, the IPA drinker, gave that a go. He thought it was pretty good. They tried to lure us into some sort of fabulous sounding dessert, but sadly, we did not have enough room after our feast of appetizers. Also, I believe they now do HH all night on Tuesdays.
