I would NOT recommend anyone to go here for Invisalign treatment. When getting my attachments removed Dr. Chantry and his staff used the wrong type of burr and created permanent divots in two of my teeth's enamel. The level of care was rushed and the doctor didn't have enough time at certain moments. I can never get this enamel back. My teeth have to be bonded or repaired. At the time they didn't inform me of this mistake. Now I have to go to another dentist to get this issue fixed. Please please please think about going to an Orthodontist instead of a dentist that works with Invisalign. I regret my choice now and I'll have to live with my enamel damage for the rest of my life. read more

Still a great office. Dr Chantry is friendly and knows what he is doing. Staff is also very kind, and work well with my insurance and keep me updated on any changes. I've had a decent amount of major work done, and it's been painless for the most part:) read more

They cancelled my appointment even though I confirmed. I have a newborn and arranged care so I could go. I will be finding a new dentist.

If you have insurance, I would double check with MULTIPLE staff here to see if your insurance would actually cover your services. My insurance apparently only covers 2 cleanings in one year regardless if my insurance renews or not. This is not what the staff told me. The staff here kept telling me to schedule an appointment since they claimed my insurance would cover the expenses as soon as my insurance renews. I'm here 6 months later, receiving bills telling me that it isn't their fault that I was falsely informed by their own staff. Take your business somewhere else. They count every single penny from you. From now I will be taking my services to a different dentist. Little tip for the business owner: make sure all of your staff truly understands how insurances work instead of trying to pull money out of all of your patients. read more

WOW. Where do I even start with my HORRIFIC experience here? I got a cavity filled in Oct. 2015 and chose this place because it had good reviews and within my insurance coverage. The experience itself was fine, nothing spectacular, and I definitely did not find Dr. Alvarado particularly friendly. 2 1/2 months later, my filling cracked out of the blue. I called them up and after some negotiating, Dr. Alvarado's office [I had moved out of the area by then and could not go in directly] agreed to compensate me if I visited a different dentist in my area. So the following week, I visited a reputable dentist in my area and got the fractured filling fixed. I sent them the bill, and that's where the sketchiness begins: The dentist I went to ("Dentist B") got a call from Dr. Alvarado's office, and they were asking a bunch of questions about me. Then they hung up and called again pretending to be an interested potential client asking about fillings and prices, etc. I know this because Dentist B recognized the girl's voice (her name was Jessica, I believe), immediately felt sketched out, and called me up to let me know that Dr. A's people were acting very strange over the phone and that they were concerned. On top of that, Jessica never called me back in spite of saying she would, so finally I had to call them back. Her response? "Oh. You need to send us a detailed report of why they had to fill it." WHAT? I am honestly so shocked because this place had such great ratings and turns out, they're just a real sketch-fest underneath that fake "professional and friendly" attitude. On top of that, Dentist B told me that for a filling to crack like that (and he said it was real, real bad) is HIGHLY UNUSUAL. His words were "not impossible, but very rare," whereas Dr. Alvarado's office made it seem like it's a common occurrence. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. If you have a problem after they take your money, THEY WILL TRY TO SCREW YOU OVER. I am in the process of reporting them to the Dental Board of California/ADA and will not stop until everybody knows how horrible this place is -- especially considering how it seems like a large majority of their client base seems to be Davis students. It's just so, so wrong. Ugh. read more

This is an office that clearly values nickeling and diming patients over actually treating and maintains them. Today I called to cancel an appointment following a courtesy call I received from the office an hour earlier. The young woman on the other end of the phone, Christa, notified me that there would be a $50 charge for the cancelation. While the entire issue may have been entirely fault for not reading what I was signing on the office's cancelation policy, it is utterly disturbing that the office would be willing to lose a $2,000 procedure over a fee and argue with a paying patient over $50. Regardless, this office is unpleasant and I wish I had listened to the Yelp reviews before having been treated here. read more

This place is the first Dental Center that I first went. Since I made an appointment, this place knew me have UC insurance. I was just asking for a teeth cleaning, they required a full-teeth check up before cleaning, which costed $250 without telling me the price before doing it. Worse, after the full check up, I was told I need to do a deep cleaning that was $1250!!! FOR JUST A TEETH CLEANING! I AM JUST A UC STUDENT! Additional to the X-Ray for my wisdom teeth, I was charged more than $400 without doing anything!! Now I can't afford my copayment for removing my wisdom teeth that have to be removed by not having enough coverage because you! I am just a student with insurance!!! Shame on you!!! I will definitely suggest all my friends keep away from your center!! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Alvarado for almost 3 years. Her and her staff are the most friendly I have ever had at a dentist office... and I have been to a LOT of dentist is Davis AND Woodland. Most dentists have made me worry and feel that there are issues with my teeth and I may need this or that (when really I totally don't!). But Dr. Alvarado has always just focused on keeping my teeth as healthy as possible. She is also so very caring when helping my little girls get comfortable with the dentist. The staff is so helpful they always help us schedule back to back appointments for my whole family! There have also been times that I bring my two little girls even when they don't have appointments and the staff has always made them feel welcome and entertained (I've NEVER experienced that ANYWHERE btw). And although I've been meaning to write this review for quite a while it was tonight that really showed the kind of dentist Dr. Alvarado is. My step daughter had suddenly experienced extreme tooth pain.. so much pain that she wanted to go the ER. I called Dr. Alvarado (WAY) after hours and she responded IMMEDIATELY. She talked with my stepdaughter and calmed her down and scheduling her as soon as she could get in the office in the morning. My step daughter called me and was so happy and relieved that this was even possible! I would say this is the most caring dentist I have EVER know-- and recall, I have been to A LOT in Davis and Woodland. Dr. Alvarado is a great family doctor. In the past she split her time between two sites which for anybody I'm sure is tough to manage (and maybe contributed to these past poor reviews??). I am so excited I found her when I did and that she is now full time at the Davis office! read more

One of the best dental care services I ever experienced. My first impression of this place was everyone is friendly and nice. They're very professional and they provide great service to their patients. I always enjoy talking to the staff at the front desk. Very helpful and insightful. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs dental care. read more

Be aware of services not required, i.e. 1) redoing fillings that were just done a few months ago by a reputable dentist, 2) informing the patient (me) of periodontal treatment that he said he could perform but checking with my periodontist the treatment was not necessary nor needed 3) stating that he does braces and set up an appointment for a consultation. Did someone forget to tell him he's a general dentist? If I needed my bmw fixed, I wouldn't go to a Volkswagen mechanic. Still not sure - Check with the California Dental Board, it just might open your eyes read more

We have been going to dr Alvarado for a few years and can't say enough great things! Such a wonderful practice!! Great dentist and staff :) read more

Since moving to Davis 2 years ago, this is the only dentist office I will go to. Everyone from the receptionists to the dental assistants, to the hygienists are super nice and friendly. I love that they have appointment times at 7 am so that I do not have to take any time off from work to get my teeth cleaned. Alyssa has been the RDH that has taken care of my cleanings the majority of my visits and I cannot say enough good things about her. Even though it is so early in the morning, she always chats with me and makes the experience so pleasant. She even remembers what I do for a living and asks about it - despite there being 6 months between the visits! She answers all my questions and provides tips and advice for how to keep my mouth, teeth, and gums clean, healthy and cavity free. I seriously look forward to going to my appointments! read more

I've been coming here for about 7 years! Started when I was in college because they offered a free whitening tray and I've been coming here ever since! The girls are so nice and help you feel at ease, yet very professional. Dr Alvarado, is fast, informative and very gentle. I come here and I can sit back, close my eyes and relax (I have a 1 year old, so anytime I have to lay and close my eyes is great, even at the dentist!) I've received a root canal, cavity fillings, and a retainer here. I once also lost my retainer and they offered to make a replacement at a discounted cost! They are awesome! If you make an appointment several months in advance, expect them to cancel a few days before. This happened to me 3 out of 3 times I have had an appointment here. read more

The worst customer service I have experienced. First of the dentist herself very kind and warm. Yet the receptionist and all the ladies in the front were the worst. Starting from when I first called! Yes I get it I may sound young and you may experience students calling a lot but I am no longer a student and I am a working professional. So do not treat me like a child that doesn't know what the difference between student insurance. The first time I walked in the ladies in the front gave me the rudest attitude because they were chit chatting and I needed to check in. They didn't even want to hold a conversation with me. They did not even give eye contact. Why be in the customer service business of you don't care about the customers ? Then once I was done with my dentist and had to check out again the same rude attitude. Then I missed my appointment and I called back to apologize then they kept saying you will get charged next time after every sentence! Yes I understand very unprofessional and time wasting but it's unprofessional to take you frustration out on the customer. So I get it I'm not welcomed at this dentistry and WILL NEVER come back and WILL NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone I know or my coworkers. ***UPDATE 5/3/18 They (chantry) told me I had three cavities and I needed to do a deep cleaning. I have not been to another dentist until today. Got my x-rays and gums checked. NO CAVITIES and only needed a basic cleaning. read more

This office needs to be audited. They are always claiming one price before work gets done, and then when you go into getting it done, price is always higher. My sister knows one of the ladies in the office, and when I expressed my frustration about this, she laughed and told me straight up that they are sneaky and take whatever they can from people. Stay away. read more

Worst Dentist EVER!!! Dr. Chantry likes overcharge people. I needed a internal tooth bleaching and he charged me $500 (I didn't know other wise, nor I didn't get a second opinion). Two years later my tooth was changing color again. He wanted to charge me again $500. I finally went to another dentist for a second opinion, come to find out that my root canal was not sealed correctly (root canal was done by another dentist). Dr. Chantry failed to even notice this. When I went to a root canal specialist, he charged me $250 for the same bleaching procedure Dr. Chantry did for me. There is more to this in regards to a crown, but I wont even go there. All I have to say is, I could of had a $1500 bill and I only paid $500 for everything with another dentist. I would give him 0 stars. Dr. Johnson on 5th street is THE BEST!!!!! read more

Rude receptionist. Has attitude problem. I feel like the atmosphere is very cold and unwelcoming.

They are going to find a way to overcharge you no matter what. The new way now is the "deep cleaning". Months after my visit, they still send me billing statements with no description but, of course, with an explicit balance due. If this professionals are your first option, I strongly advise you to seek for other dentists. read more

Was ripped off. I had jaw pain and came in for Dr. Alvarado to tell me my wisdom teeth were coming out when I already knew they were coming out I could feel and see them! They charged the exam as a consultation to the insurance company, and my next real consultation at an oral surgeon cost me $95 because insurance only covers 2 consultations a year!! That exam was such a waste and all they did was look at it, tell me what I already knew, and refer me to this oral surgeon. Had to pay extra at my first exam for special X-rays for looking at my mouth when other dentist offices tell me they won't charge for X-rays at all! Cheap looking office and furniture too. Really regret coming for the first exam and then being suckered into a useless second exam. There are better dentist offices than this one! read more

All the worst experience that you can imagine happened on me. Treating patient very rudely. Even tried to finish the surgery when she noticed that I'm feeling the pain and clearly not numb, she asked me to stand it. Does not communicate with the patients. I need to go to other dentists within one month after the surgery because this Dr. Alvarado is not doing her job. Waste of money. read more

I have been to Dr. Alvarado for routine dental exam/xrays/cleaning twice and my impression is that she just wants to make money. She hardly spent any time at all with me and I do not believe she did a thorough dental exam. She filled a cavity once and it did not have a smooth surface and I could feel rough points constantly for at least a week after the procedure. The hygienists who did my cleanings did not do a thorough job either (for example: they never flossed my teeth after cleanings). I do not trust her or this office with my oral health. I will never return here. read more

Today was my second visit, and I was just as impressed as I was the first time I came in. The amenities make you feel welcome and comfortable with complimentary coffee and snacks. When I came in, I got a goodie bag filled with dental hygene items that saved me a trip to CVS! Additionally, the staff is very friendly, professional, and helpful. I felt I got a very detailed thorough cleaning, and to top it off, the doctor came in to check in on me and answer any questions I had. I've been to many dental offices and Dr. Alvarado's has definitely been my top choice. read more

Bad customer service. Very unprofessional. Save yourselves a headache and go elsewhere.

Chantry dental is top notch , I had an emergency when my tooth broke and they fit me in ASAP and accommodated my work schedule every step of the way . Everyone is super friendly and professional from the front office to the dental assistants and of course the dentists . Even though I live in Vacaville , they will defiantly be my dentist of choice . read more

First the good: I chipped a small piece of tooth and needed it fixed. Despite having never been to a dentist in Davis before, I was able to book an appointment quickly, and even though the cap she put on fell off in a week, she put a new and better one on quickly and for free due to her error which I thought was really nice. Now the bad: When I went to get my chip fixed, despite being very clear on my issue, had no record of me needing anything but a new client check-up where they took x-rays and started looking at my teeth and told me I had THREE CAVITIES in between my teeth. I was surprised and disappointed in myself considering how seriously I take my dental hygiene and having never had cavities in between my teeth before. I decided to hold off on getting all those teeth drilled, which included a $380 deductible on my part (not in a vet student's budget) given the many extra "indispensable" add-ons not covered by my insurance. I ended up seeing my usual dentist in LA during spring break in which he looked at my teeth and the same x-rays she took and reported that he saw NO CAVITIES at all. Dr. Alvarado tried to destroy my perfectly healthy teeth. As a fellow member of the medical field, I do not want to believe that she does not have the patients' best interests at heart, but based on some other similar reviews it seems pretty clear that I'm not the only one who's been pressured to have drastic dental work performed, possibly under false pretenses. read more

I have been to this office three times now, and I have always found them professional, helpful, and kind. I had an exam, a teeth cleaning, and a filling for a cavity. All three were handled efficiently and with minimal discomfort. There is tea and coffee as well as protein bars and waters in the waiting room (which made me feel very welcomed), and they do what they can to make you comfortable and happy. Dr. Alvarado is very nice, and answered all of my questions. AND she went to the best school in the nation, UCLA, for both undergrad and dental school. Go Bruins. I would recommend going to this office. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Alvarado for over a year now and I can not complain. She is an excellent dentist who does a fantastic work. The dental hygienist are also knowledgeable and do great work. All of the staff in this office are super friendly! The waiting area has lots of chairs, magazines, free gum, snacks, and coffee! I have my tooth filling done here. The process is smooth and comfortable. The people here are very kind and nice!

Dr. Alvarado and her staff are extremely nice and helpful. She is the main doctor in the office. However, I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Dr. Chantry the last time I went in, who is from the Elk Grove office. He was extremely rude to me, so I am never going back there again. If you must go, make sure that you see Dr. Alvarado not Dr. Chantry. read more

I needed a root canal which is never fun. I called Doctor Chantry's office and they got me in in two days at 7am before work. Doctor Chantry had doubts if he could save my tooth. I asked him to please save my tooth as it is a molar and I need it for chewing. He went the extra mile and the extra time to save it. I am very thankful to him and his staff who were so thoughtful and kind. If you are looking for a really good dentist and staff call Doctor Chantry's office. You will not be disappointed. Thanks again you guys are the best! read more

I found Dr Alvarado and her staff excellent. I have received a number of procedures - a filling and crown - and have absolutely no complaints about the work or experience. I also appreciate that they accept UC SHIP and are not nearly as expensive as others in Davis. As with all Yelp reviews, I am skeptical of the objectivity of the few low rating below. read more

Just talk about my last tooth filling done here. The filling inside does not align well with my teeth, and it did not take long before it started detaching from my teeth. My teeth became sensitive to temperature after the surgery. I thought it is a temporary thing, but it is still sensitive after 2 months. I had teeth filling done elsewhere before, nothing like this ever happen. I am unhappy with this piece of work. They took customers carelessly. Besides, every time I came, they tried to sell me some products during the examination. I will never come back. read more

I had come in late to my app. But I was taken care of immediately. They have great service and the people at the desk were very kind. They really cared about you getting comfortable in the waiting room. The chairs were comfortable and they had great free complimentary coffe, hot chocolate and granola bars. Jeffery Chantry (The dentist I had seen) was very kind and broke everything down for me in a easier way to understand while he also gave me many options for my teeth. My visit to this dentistry was very wonderful. All in all the service was great, people there were kind and I can't wait for my next visit! read more
