The best restaurant in Juneau. The drive is well worth it. And, even though the signs advise you to be patient for your food, I've never had an inordinate wait. read more

Good food but they never answer their damn phone. Makes take out impossible. And oh to make it even better - you can drive out there and then they'll tell you they're "not doing takeout today." And of course Coconut Thai is not open on the weekends. Just another Juneau business that doesn't want your business. The 20 people in their "dining room" is already more than they can handle. read more

The best Thai food I've ever had and by far the best service. It's well worth the wait in line and is a must visit when in Juneau.

Came to Alaska on vacation and decided to stop here for lunch. It was really good! The portions are large so one entree is enough for two people. We had the green curry chicken and shrimp pad thai and they were both wonderful! read more

Chan's Thai Kitchen was a place I heard people praising their food. I came to find out for myself with my own tastebuds. I'm not a real fan of Thai cuisine, but the people of Juneau really must not have traveled to Thailand or do they think Chung King and LaChoy to be good Chinese food as well. I just didn't find the food here very good nor would I return nor recommend it, disappointing, way overrated. I like the Pad Thai visiting Thailand, this missed the target for me at this place. read more

really good food. nice employees. old decor and seating but comfy. if they are busy you wait, but worth it. day 1 in town we ate dinner there. we were sat at table immediately, and ordered within ten minutes. waited for our dinners about 25-30 more minutes. we went again for lunch day 4 of being in town and ordered our food within five minutes of walking through door and had awesome food ten-12 minutes after that. in total we tried a couple curry dishes, shrimp pad thai, and garlic shrimp. eat here, but don't act put off if you wait 30-40 minutes for your food. go in knowing it is worth the wait. read more

What a joke. We sat at the table for 45 minutes after ordering without even getting our iced tea. 3 employees walked passed us constantly and never once went to check on our food or drinks. We finally asked for the teas which they brought us. Another 10 mins go by and we ask about our apps. They said they misplaced our food order. So they let us sit there an hour without checking on our food. Our bill was most likely over $100 worth of food too! We left and guess what, they didn't even care. Terrible terrible service, will not be returning. read more

Holy this was great. I've always heard of this place and from time to time I want to fly to Juneau just to eat there. If i remember right each dish is made from scratch. This could be a restaurant I would consider dinning at for my last meal. read more

First, I disagree with reviews that complain about waiting. We had no unusual wait. Our group of three had spring rolls, squid curry, phad tai with chicken, and beef in oyster sauce. The spring rolls were about the best I've ever eaten. Large, crisp on the outside and filled with delicious veggies. My wife reported that the squid curry was fantastic and my grandson loved the noodles with chicken. I was a bit disappointed in the beef dish. I tasted the other two dishes. I have visited Bangkok dozens of times over the last couple decades and have eaten at everything from the best Thai restaurants to street vendors. The food at Chan's lacked a certain taste of Bangkok food that I find hard to describe. The food in Bangkok is more fragrant with fresh spices and has a lighter taste on the tongue. Oh, I also ordered some prik nam pla which is green chili in fish sauce. I wanted to adjust the heat myself. Chan's sauce was perhaps the hottest I have ever had, but after a few doses, I could tolerate it. It really added to the experience. Request it, if you go and can take 5 star hotness. The restaurant itself has little atmosphere. The service is very good. Chan's is located about 10 miles from downtown Juneau at Auke Bay which is a very popular marina for fishing and touring boats. Due to some harbor construction, the view from Chan's has been greatly improved with spectacular views of the harbor, boats, and distant mountains. Not all table have the view. In sum, this is an excellent restaurant with great food that somehow misses the five star level because it seems to lack certain flavors that are found in Bangkok restaurants. Lemon grass?? We will return. read more

I have no idea where these folks learned how to cook Thai food as none of what they served would be considered Thai food anywhere else other than Juneau Alaska - if you are Jonsing for Thai food - go to Safeway and get the ingredients to make it yourself. You will satisfy that craving but coming here - no you will be extremely disappointed. read more

Green Curry and the Thai Tea is the best in town Just wish didn't have such weird hours read more

Chan's Thai Kitchen is one of the best restaurants in Juneau. The food is excellent every time and the staff is friendly and helpful to first-timers. The view is spectacular, especially on a sunny day. I highly recommend the cashew chicken!! Though the wait may be long at times, it is worth it. read more

After reading all of the "hype", Chans Thai was a bit disappointing to me. I suppose it could be that I'm lamenting a bit about the loss of all of my affordable ethnic restaurant choices from the lower 48, or perhaps it could be that Chans is just OK. There is no direct competition in Juneau, so it's easy to be the best this way. Onto the food. My husband & I split an order of coconut chicken soup (otherwise known as Tom Ka Gai). My only complaint is that is could have been hotter (temperature wise). It was also much whiter in color then I've had in the past, but even though the color disturbed me a bit, it was tasty, and spiced just about right, and chock full of mushrooms & chicken. We also split an entree of basil chicken, which comes with jasmine rice. It was good but nothing extraordinary. Each dish was $12.95, and we just had water to drink as they do not have just plain old iced tea. Overall, Chans offers mediocre Thai food with good service, but personally, I probably wouldn't wait in line for it. If you want to try Chans, you might try getting there as close to opening time (current opening time is 4:30) as possible, as a line starts to form a little after 5 pm. On a side note, I found it very odd that the restaurant is only open from 4:30-8:30 and that they do not have take out. How is it even possible to stay in business this way? read more

This restaurant is a dump - dirty and crowded. It is the only thai restaurant in Juneau - so with no competition, everyone thinks it is wonderful. It is only ok. Nice staff. read more

Probably my favorite place in Juneau! Always get the same thing. Egg Rolls, (which are to die for), Chicken Green Curry and Chicken Pad Thai.. Sometime there is a little wait, but we just leave our phone number, go upstairs to Squirez and have a drink while we wait.. Definitely worth the visit! read more

Honestly, if half a star was possible.....nuff said. I won't digress, if I don't tell this horror story it won't go down as a true review. This was true "service with a shrug." People need to do something they love. What's going on in this place. My beef Penang gave me the craps for 2 days. I awoke to my roommate chucking his guts. Shall I continue? read more

They truly do not answer their phone for take out. The ambience is horrible and the food is good. Worth the wait? Meh.

Always a waiting line for tables. They have signs posted stating that they cook your food when you place your order, so it takes longer to get your meal. But it is well worth the wait!. BFF & I meet there often. She's had everything on the menu, but I keep going back to my fav coconut curry dish. Everything is so fresh and delish. read more

The vegetarian pad thai was fantastic, but skip the thai basil. Still, an awesome restaurant and so surprising to find outside of Juneau!

Best pad thai I have ever had! Cashew chicken and yellow curry are also fantastic. This place is a must in Juneau!

Best Thai restaurant found to man...I lived in Juneau 18 years, moved to Washington DC then to FL and have not found anything to compare..I returned to Juneau for a visit after being gone four years and made this restaurant my first stop..they actually remembered what dish I always ordered....top notch food as well as waitress! Can't wait to return. read more

The two stars are because the food is good. I did not give them any more because the service was terrible and the restaurant itself is very VERY cramped. I was there with my boyfriend and we didn't order very much... It took over an hour to get our food and the place wasn't even very busy. This place is also OVER PRICED for the whole experience. read more

This is the best Thai food town. Be prepared to wait to get a table as it is usually packed every night. Worth it though
