These guys have done BIG jobs for us for years. They chipped in place about an acre of cedar and left us with a great bed of mulch that prevented undergrowth from coming back too quickly. Then, they hauled off every tree that fell across another piece of property (about 1/2 acre) during the last ice storm. The guys are thorough and keep the price VERY competitive. They trimmed trees without moving my potted plants. I pulled up to a pile of branches on top of a 3-4 foot succulent plant I had saved from my wedding day. Next day I also found flowering plant in its own pot completely chopped in half that had 2 bright red flowers. It was hidden on the side of my step out of visibility despite it previously sitting on the steps. It would have been very easy to move those plants. As soon as I pulled up and started moving everything, one guy helped and apologized. But, I am a little upset that it took my initiative to move them for someone to become aware and considerate about it. I rent, so i had little to say about hiring or timing of everything. It was a shock. My neighbors also expressed annoyance about them leaving stuff all over their yard without asking. read more

I had a huge tree come down in a wind storm. The removal had a high chance of damaging either the fence, carport or my roof. It was a job requiring surgery like precision to avoid this potential damage. The guys from Chango's did an amazing job! They were professional and very careful. They also went above and beyond in the cleanup after. I was very impressed. The price was painful because whoever saves a bag of money hoping to spend it on tree removal? Do not use this company. They do a horrible messy job and ask for their money and disappear. They Cut down my two trees and did not kill the roots. Now the roots are sprouting all over my front lawn. I tried contacting them, left messages and texted and they DO NOT reply. Beware of this company. They are not honest and do a horrible job. read more

I set up an appointment, and he didn't call or show up. I called that day about him failing to call or show up for the appointment. He apologized and asked to reschedule, to which I said OK. Guess what happened? He didn't show up or call again. I am done with this company. I'm amazed how he can stay in business with so many no call no shows. Fast, AFFORDABLE and professional. We arrived home one evening to find we had a 40 foot cedar fall in our yard, which ended up hanging across the street once all the way fallen, all but blocking traffic. Called several places....soonest arrival would be days away. Changos was there in less than 12 hours from the initial call, and had it completely out of the way in less than 1 hour from arrival! I can't say they'll win any OSHA awards for their personal safety practices; bravery is in no short supply with their crew. It was like cirque du soleil with chainsaws! Truly amazing and leaving me truly grateful some time later, especially since I avoided a fine for the tree blocking the road, all thanks to Changos. Winners in my book! read more

Have used these guys for the last five or six years. They are responsive and do the job completely. They have taken great care of our beautiful oak trees and helped us get rid of some bothersome and dying cedars. Do the whole job including stump grinding. Any problems - just let them know and they will return to make it right very quickly. Love them. Just like to share the friendly and accurate service, we'll knowledge, fair prices and clean...

We've used Carlos and his crew (aka Chango's) 3 or 4 times over the last 6-8 years. Most recently, we had then out to trim 6 medium sized trees, a bunch of smaller trees, and a large bush. They do work cheap and fast, clean up nicely, and they always make sure we're happy with the work before they leave. I also like how, if you have specific request(s), they will trim how you want, even if it's not "usual". We've tried other, more heavily advertised tree services in the past (you know, the ones with "certified arborists"), they didn't do any better than Chango's. read more

Chango's Tree Service did a great job removing from our live oak tree, a large branch that was overhanging into the street, and putting too much weight on the rest of the tree (which couldn't be effectively propped-up, because it overhangs the driveway). While here, they also trimmed a large branch from a cedar tree, that was interfering with a red oak in our back yard, as well as an overhanging tree that was making it hard to enter the driveway. They did all this quickly, with excellent clean-up, and a very reasonable price. read more

The price was right, $300 to remove 2 dead and one live Hackberry tree. HOWEVER, the mess that was left took me 2 hours to pick up. I came home to what looked like a horrendous storm had hit my front yard. Bark, sticks, debris, trampled plants. Inexcusable! So disappointed! When I expressed my dismay, Carlos apologized and said it wouldn't happen next time. There won't be a next time. read more

This company does not return calls. They do not show up for appointments. I took off work (time is money) to handle some tree issues with them. Total flakes. I called them and they acted like they did not know who I was or that we even had an appointment after I waited an hour and they never showed. My advice: try to find someone else. There are a million tree companies in Austin. I say, No, No, No. I understand getting busy and distracted but how hard is it to pick up the phone and call and say "Sorry, we are going to be late" or "Sorry, we will have to reschedule." So, find someone else for your tree work! read more

The owner stopped by a TreeFolks volunteer sapling planting event with his little daughter and helped out. So nice!!

The only reason I give these guys one stars was because their prices were very reasonable - however, along with that low cost came very bad service. After the consultation, we told Carlos that we wanted to go ahead with it, but we did not set a time or a date for them to come out and do the job. When I got home from work a few days later, I found all of their trucks out in front of our lawn - they gave me NO head's up and were cutting down our large tree out front. They drug all the brush and walked all over our neighbor's lawn, causing the lawn major damage not to mention the damage they did to our own lawn. They left trash around the house and didn't clean up any of their mess. After he grinded down the tree stump, he left all of the tree shavings (or mulch) all over the yard and Carlos told us he wouldn't be cleaning any of it up! He also said there was nothing he could do for our neighbor's damaged lawn! I would not recommend using this tree service again! read more
